Autism Disorder is a developmental disorder usually noticed among children within the first two or three years of their lives which have a profound impairment in social communication and social interaction and restricted and repetitive behavior. The study was aimed to: Assess knowledge, attitude and practices of parents having children with autism Design : A descriptive research design was utilized. Setting: the study was carried out in outpatient clinic of autism at Al-Abbassia hospital for mental health and addiction and Helwan hospital for psychiatric and mental health. Subjects: the study sample was 60 parents of children of children diagnosed with autism from both sexes. Tools: data was collected by using four tools; Tool (1) socio-demographic questionnaire for the characteristic of the children and their parents, Tool (2) parent's knowledge scale regarding autism disorder and Tool (3) Attitude scale of parents toward their children with autism, parents , Tool (4) practices scale regarding caring of children with autism. Results : the study results showed that. Nearly more than three quarters of the parents had unsatisfactory knowledge regarding their children disorder. Slightly more than three quarters of the parents had incompetent practices regarding their children with autism. Conclusion: the present study concluded that , more than three quarters of the parent had unsatisfactory knowledge and in competent practices regarding caring of their children. Also, there was statistically significant difference between total knowledge score and the parent's socio demographic characteristics. In addition to, there was a highly statistically significant difference between total knowledge scoreand total practices score of having children with autism. Recommendation: Conducting a continuous practical training and health educational programs for all members of the families having children with autism.

Back ground: Autism is is an early neurodevelopmental disorder, which severely affects both parents and children, this disorder imposes great physical, mental, and social pressures on families, particularly parents, and affects various dimensions of their lives . Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of psychosocial program on stress and coping strategies among parents having children with autism spectrum disorder. Design: Quasi experimental design (pre - post-test) was utilized in the study. Setting: The study was conducted at psychiatry outpatient clinic in Fayoum General Hospital. Sample: convenience sample of (60) from parents having children with autism included in the study. Data collection tools: Data were obtained through three tools; I: A Structured Questionnaire sheet consists of three parts: socio-demographic characteristics about parent, socio-demographic data about child, and Knowledge assessment questionnaire, II: Parent stress scale (PSS). III: Coping Strategies Scale. Results: the study result revealed that there was highly statistically significant improvement after program implementation regarding levels of knowledge, levels of stress and levels of Coping Strategies among parents having children with autism. Conclusion: Psychosocial program has positive effect on knowledge, stress and enhance coping strategies among studied parents after program implementation. Recommendations: Conducting further researches on large study sample size in different areas to generalize the results. Also regular assessment and monitoring of the studied family care givers' strains and coping.

Background : Parents of children with epilepsy face enormous problem of caring is an enduring stressor and causes considerable amount of burden and reduce coping abilities. The aim of study: to evaluate the effect of psychoeducational program on coping strategies among parents having children with epilepsy. Research design : Quasi experimental design (pre and post-test) was used to utilize in this study. Setting : The study was conducted at the neuropsychiatry outpatient clinic at El- Fayoum General Hospital Sample: Convenience sample would be selected available parents having children with epilepsy. Tools : 1 st tool structured questionnaire format to assess the children and their parents characteristics as well as knowledge of parents about epilepsy 2 nd tool Parents burden scale to assess parents burden 3 rd tool coping pattern scale to to assess parents coping strategies toward their children suffering from epilepsy. Results : Revealed that, there was a highly statistically significant improvement in total good knowledge score that represented as (12.9% )& (74.3%) pretest versus posttest. there was a highly statistically significant improvement in total burden items that represented as(54.3±12.97)&(38.7±6.78 ) pretest versus posttest. there was a highly statistically significant improvement in total coping items that represented as(97.24±19.18) &(109.87±17.35)pretest versus posttest. Conclusion : Application of psychoeducational program for parents having children with epilepsy can help them in improving their knowledge and coping strategies to adapt with their burden. Recommendation : Periodic health awareness program and psychoeducational program about epilepsy for all parents having children with epilepsy in outpatient clinic

Background : Dental diseases have a detrimental childhood, as have an impact on self-esteem, eating ability, nutrition and general health. Oral health knowledge is an essential prerequisite for health-related practices. Aim of the study : The study aimed to assess knowledge and practices among school age children about dental problems in relation with residence. Research Design : A descriptive design used to conduct this study. Setting: The study conducted at El Shahid Amr Abdel Guyed primary school at Kafr Tohormos city and Nasr El din primary school at Haram city. Subjects : A purposive sample composed of (210) child aged from 10 to 12 years old. Tools of data collection: Two tools, Tool [I] Interviewing Questionnaire to assess children’ knowledge regarding dental problems. Tool [II] Reported practices checklist to assess children’ practices regarding dental care. Results: The study finding showed that 73.3 % of the studied sample had poor level of total knowledge about dental problems. Moreover, 46.2 % of the studied sample had inadequate level of total practices about dental care, and there was a strong positive correlation between school age children knowledge and their practice regarding to dental care related to residence. Conclusion: From this study it can be concluded that the majority of studied sample had poor level of total knowledge about dental problems and less than half had inadequate level of practices regarding dental care. Recommendation: Establish continuous educational programs for school age children to teach the proper practices for dental care.
