Efficient image compression based on error value centralization by sign bits 基于符号位误差值集中的高效图像压缩

In the last two decades, there exist many high-performance prediction-based methods that use different coefficients of causal neighbors in order to exploit the relationship of spatial energy to produce a less error image. Besides, more and more researches focus on the accuracy of predictor; nevertheless, the predictor spends a lot of time on finding the best coefficients of causal neighbors. The objective of our research is to propose an efficient and implementable method to improve compression ratio, without increasing extra computation complexity. Here, we present an improved lossless image compression based on the prediction method, by the proposed application of efficient error value centralization by sign bits. The contribution of this paper is to centralize error values in a novel way to improves coding performance. Experimental results show that our proposed method achieves higher compression ratio than the context-based, adaptive, and lossless image codec (CALIC) method for the images with many details or slightly regular texture.

This paper presents novel sub-harmonic mixer topologies for W-band automotive radar applications in 65nm CMOS technology. Working principle and performance of three kinds of topologies are analyzed and discussed with physical layout and EM simulation. The simulated performance shows a double side band noise figure of 20.8 dB and a voltage conversion gain of -8.7 dB at an RF frequency of 79.0001 GHz and a LO frequency of 39.5 GHz. The dc power consumption is only 10.4μW.

This paper describes the design of a rectenna for batteryless electronic paper. The rectenna is composed of a one-sided directional flexible antenna and a booster rectifying circuit that is composed of a series resonant circuit and a Cockcroft-Walton circuit. The proposed one-sided directional flexible antenna has a bottom floating metal layer that enables one-sided radiation. The booster rectifying circuit has an output of 3.5 V DC for an input of 200 mV and a 50-Ω power source at 920 MHz.

On the performance of SVD estimation in Saleh-Valenzuela channel for UWB system 超宽带系统Saleh-Valenzuela信道SVD估计性能研究

This paper describes the performance of singular value decomposition (SVD) estimation techniques for multiband orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) of ultra-wideband (UWB) system in Saleh-Valenzuela channel modelling. The performance of SVD estimation is compared against LS and MMSE methods corresponding to zero-padded of a UWB system. The crucial limitation in UWB system is strictly low power transmission leads to many challenges in designing the system. However, most of the conventional channel estimation in frequency domain requires either pre-storing a large matrix or performing real-time matrix inversion, which should be avoided for UWB low complexity implementation. The intuition of this paper is to analyse further the complexity of SVD techniques against least squares (LS) and minimum mean square error (MMSE) estimation method. Consequently, this work implies that the SVD method gives an improvement of 3-5 dB if compared to the LS method while a significant complexity reduction of 57.8% as compared to MMSE methods.

This paper provides a study on a practical digital filter bank based on a conventional filter bank framework for the reconstruction of uniformly sampled signals from nonuniform samples. The digital filter bank structure is studied in an implementation and design point of view, and its reconstruction performance is compared with a least squares scheme.

Development of dual band digitally controlled oscillator using Fibonacci sequence in 0.18 um CMOS process 基于0.18 um CMOS工艺的斐波那契数列双频数字控制振荡器的研制

This paper presents a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) in inductor-capacitor (LC) topology with dual -band and fine frequency tuning steps. Using special Fibonacci sequence method and additional capacitor in the capacitor bank, this DCO operates two differential frequency bands and achieves finer tuning range than that of a conventional binary sequence DCO. The proposed circuit is implemented in 0.18 um CMOS technology and tested. It has a high-band frequency of 4.01-4.54 GHz and low-band frequency of 3.41-3.74 GHz. The measured phase noise is -119.3 and -104.5 (dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset) at carrier frequency at 4.54 GHz and 3.41 GHz.

Single and multiple relay selection for cooperative communication under frequency selective channels 在选频信道下进行单中继和多中继的协同通信选择

In this paper, a relay selection scheme for cooperative communication with amplify-and-forward (AF) under frequency selective channels is proposed. In the scheme, to tackle with the difficulty caused by frequency selective channel, the output SNR of equalization detector is used as the end-to-end SNR to order the relays. According to relay ordering, one or multiple relay can be sequentially selected out from N relays. The numerical results verify the method of relay ordering and show that the multiple relay selection scheme outperforms conventional optimal single relay selection scheme.

WAMbot: Simulation and modelling of a team of autonomous mobile robots WAMbot:一组自主移动机器人的仿真和建模

Simulation is an essential early evaluation tool for mobile robot research and development, and different stages of development have individual simulator needs. In this paper, we document details of two simulation tools that were developed for an entry into the MAGIC 2010 challenge, an autonomous ground vehicle competition. In developing the entry, simulators were used in two domains: problem analysis and solution testing. The problem analysis simulator was built using a commercial 3D game engine, whilst the simulator aimed at testing of the solution was built using a standard robotics library. By leveraging existing technologies appropriate for each domain, the task of simulator construction was simplified. The split allowed problem exploration independent of selected hardware, allowing for early simulation. These simulators allowed a team composed mostly of part-time volunteers to construct a complex distributed, multi-robot system and proved essential to our team's success in the MAGIC 2010 challenge.

In this paper, a new lattice Boltzmann model with a first order amending term is offered to solve the specialized Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation. The governing equation can be recovered generally from the proposed Boltzmann equation based on the Chapman-Enskog expansion. The numerical results agree well with the exact solutions and it verifies that the presented lattice Boltzmann method is suitable for solving the specialized Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation.

An improved zero-sequence directional element for parallel lines based on fast phasor extracting algorithm 基于快速相量提取算法的改进平行线零序方向元

The zero-sequence directional protection on parallel lines will mal-operate for zero-sequence mutual inductance. An inductance model for an internal fault is established and a model error function is defined on model recognition theory by analyzing the fault equivalent circuit. The model error is small for an internal fault while large and oscillating for an external fault. To solve the problem caused by the high-frequency components in the transient waveform on the set threshold value of the proposed method, the power frequency component is used for the model error function in this paper. A new phasor extracting method named fast phasor extracting algorithm is introduced to extract the power frequency component during the transient period. Simulation results from EMTP prove the high quality of the improved zero-sequence directional element and its validity to pick up speed to remove the fault.
