In this paper, we explore the potential benefits of designing a dielectric resonator nantenna shaped in an equilateral triangular manner which is fed via a 1×2 corporate feed network. Utilizing full wave electromagnetic simulation software CST MWS, we demonstrated our proposed nantenna to work as a transceiver at optical C-band (1.55 µm) having a center frequency of 193.5 THz. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed nantenna exhibits an end-fire directional radiation pattern of 9.57 dB with a wide impedance bandwidth of 2.58 % (189 THz – 194 THz) covering the standard optical C-band transmission window. The proposed nantenna can be a viable candidate for applications used in nanophotonics, inter and intra network optical wireless communication devices, optical sensing and optical energy harvesting etc.

The touchless interaction has received considerable attention in recent years with benefit of removing the burden of physical contact. The recent introduction of novel acquisition devices, like the leap motion controller, allows obtaining a very informative description of the hand pose and motion that can be exploited for accurate gesture recognition. In this work, we present an interactive application with gestural hand control using leap motion for medical visualization, focusing on the satisfaction of the user as an important component in the composition of a new specific database. In this paper, we propose a 3D dynamic gesture recognition approach explicitly targeted to leap motion data. Spatial feature descriptors based on the positions of fingertips and palm center are extracted and fed into a support vector machine classifier in order to recognize the performed gestures. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the suggested approach in the recognition of the modeled gestures with a high accuracy rate of about 81%.

The automatic interpretation of human gestures based on the kinect sensor offers new opportunities for human-computer interaction (HCI) more natural and intuitive than conventional devices. Thus, Finger and hand gesture detection constitutes an active research axis because certain situations demand silenced conversation. In fact, visual explanation of hand movements and finger detection can be helpful to achieve the easiness preferred for HCI. It is a famed method to communicate with machines and it has been developed in many applications. In this paper we present a view of the current research. We will start by defining certain number of terms then by interpreting the main steps of system recognition gesture and fingertips tracking.

Energy consumption is a critical issue affecting the lifetime of WSN. It is observed that energy consumed for processing the data to transmit is considerably less than used in transmission. A number of techniques are proposed to solve this problem. Data compression is a promising approach to reduce transmitted data and inter-nodes communications over wireless channels. In this paper, we present a new approach to implement the K-RLE algorithm in WSN giving a trade-off between energy consumption and compression rate efficiency. Our solution called C-RLE is validated and qualified on a Cortex-M3 based WSN node and compared to the previous implementations of K-RLE. Experimental results show that proposed implementation preserves the performance of the K-RLE in terms of compression ratio. Moreover, it significantly performs better than the existing implementations of K-RLE in terms of energy consumption with a gain of 30.41%.

Arithmetic in GF(2n) finite fields in asymmetric cryptography is the key of an efficient cryptosystems implementation. Thus, cryptosystems based on algebraic curves such as Hyper/Elliptic curves (ECC,HECC) and Pairings need a big number of arithmetic operations. They required several GF(2n) inversions and multiplications which are the most time and area consuming operations. This paper describes a hardware architecture for computing both modular multiplication and modular inversion in GF(2n) finite fields, based on a Modified Serial Multiplication/Inversion (MSMI) algorithm. The algorithm is suitable for both hardware implementations and software implementations. The proposed design performs 8-bits, 16-bits, 32-bits or 64-bits modular multiplication or inversion. Our design was modeled using VHDL and implemented in the Xilinx FPGAs Virtex6. Implementation results prove that our MSMI uses only 219 FPGA slices, it achieves a maximum frequency of 150 MHz and it computes 163-bits modular multiplication in 4.21 µ secs.

The compression methods of images based on neural network and wavelet transform gives a limitation in the compression ratio and the reconstructed image quality. To improve the compression ratio without quality degradation of the reconstructed image, we add a phase of pretreatment before the discrete wavelet transform uses the principle of Weber-Fechner law which says that the sensation of the human eye to light is logarithmic. We quantify the image by using the Weber-Fechner law to reduce the entropy of the image before the compression.

Fluorescence spectroscopy based on immuno-fluorescence is a useful tool in medical diagnosis and screening for different pathologies, as breast cancer, atherosclerosis … Such a diagnosis, often achieved through a fluorescent labeling, is often obscured by a parasite signal associated mainly with some cells which are naturally auto-fluorescent. This paper proposes a computational method based on Singular Value decomposition which helps analyze the main components of an emitted fluorescent signal by a labeled artery. The aim of this analysis is to extract the pure spectra associated with the fluorescent sources and their relative repartition in order to detect and localize the cholesterol lesion. Computer simulations are presented to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method in dealing with overlapped source problem in a labeled artery.

Recently there has been an increasing interest in transformerless photovoltaic (PV) inverters because of their salient benefits such as lower cost, smaller volume as well as higher efficiency as compared to those with transformer. However, a higher leakage current will inherently flow from the PV array to the grid through the stray capacitance. The leakage current increases the losses as well as the conducted and radiated electromagnetic interferences (EMI). Therefore, leakage current minimization is a key parameter to consider for the design and control of such a type of transformerless inverters. To overcome this issue, a variety of modified PV inverters topologies have been proposed with the aim to minimize the variation of the common mode voltage (CMV) that is the main source of this leakage current. However, the evaluation of their performances in terms CEM criteria has never been done before this work. Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to carry out a comparative study between three recent single-phase PV inverters topologies in terms of common mode and differential mode conducted disturbances.

Although the database schemas are an integral part of information systems, the use of software product lines has been mainly studied for the production of executable code. The impact on data management and in particular the database schemas are poorly documented and little studied in the literature. The paper is an attempt to explore some of the issues of the modeling and implementation of the variability in the database through the use of disciplined approaches. We propose a variability management framework. Motivations for developing the framework are three-fold: (a) to facilitate the comprehension of the discipline, (b) to classify and compare existing approaches to managing this discipline and (c) to extract their insufficiencies to propose an approach that remedies these insufficiencies and resolve problems related to this discipline. Finally, we introduce seven different variability management approaches and their instantiation according to the variability management framework.
