The paper presents an original approach combining both testing and numerical modeling to analyze the dynamic behavior of on-shore wind turbines under vibration stress. In the first section, experimental tests are performed to examine the structural response of the three main components of the turbine (blades, tower, and nacelle). Afterward, a robust 3-D Finite Volume model is developed using ANSYS for free and forced constraints calculation. The purpose of the developed tool is to model and interpret reliably the transient and static operational modes. The model is then validated using the Experimental Modal Analysis Method (EMAM). Thus, after setting the boundary conditions and the mesh elements size, the modal parameters were optimized to adjust the model. An excellent correlation between «calculations» and «measures» is obtained. The analysis is developed by the help of a powerful computer capable to execute many modes and present the distribution of equivalent stress for each mode. Hence, the vibrational comportments of the blades, the nacelle and the tower are analyzed.

This paper presents performance comparisons of two graphical techniques for modeling and simulation of complex nonlinear mechatronic systems. These techniques are respectively Bond Graph (BG) structural approach and Block Diagram (BD) which is a functional approach. They are applied for the modeling of single wheel electrical vehicle. The BG model is elaborated under 20-SIM environment, while the BD model is developed using Matlab/Simulink.

This paper concerns the problem of converting High Dynamic Range (HDR) images into Low Dynamic Range (LDR) images so as to display the mapped images on LDR display devices. A fast, effective and flexible tone mapping algorithm preserving visibility, contrast and impression of the HDR real-world scene is developed. It is based on the Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT) decomposition reducing a large part of halo artifacts on the reconstructed LDR image. Before the reconstruction step, the approximation and details coefficients of the coarsest subbands are weighted according to a given relationship depending on the characteristics of the HDR image. The proposed tone mapping algorithm performance is evaluated in terms of visual rendering and HDR reproduction fidelity measured with the TMQI metric. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides interesting results compared to competitive methods available in the literature.

This presents a one step solution to compensate for the power amplifier (PA) nonlinearities and in-phase/quadrature (I/Q) impairments for concurrent dual-band radio frequency (RF) transmitters. This technique is proposed that compensate the in-band intermodulation (IMD) and the cross-modulation distortion (CMD) products in the presence of I/Q imbalance and DC offset imperfections simultaneously using the concept of injection in the baseband block. The measurement results for a concurrent dual-band PA class AB clearly prove the effectiveness and the superiority of the porposed approach in comparison with the state of art technique.

In this paper, a design of an autonomous hybrid power system combining a few components as solar energy, a backup system component based on proton membrane exchange fuel cell, namely Energy Recovery and two kinds of energy storage, one based on H2 gas production namely Energy Storage and the second specified by using an Ultracapacitor bank is described and modeled. The main goal of this work is to present and to improve the efficiency of such system using a smart energy management. This latter, based on multi-agents system modeling, used to ensure the smooth operation of such system dedicated to remote area application. The model is developed and tested by MATLAB/Simulink using mathematical and finite state models to follow the behavior of the proposed system. Hence, the simulation results clearly indicate and prove that the multi-agents control approach is a promising and effective method used for the control of the systems combining various energy sources.

the use of internet increases the chances for attackers to detect the information content during the transmission process between two parties. Steganography is a solution to pass messages between two parties in a secure manner. This work proposes a secure method to hide one or more images simultaneously inside cover image with the same size. This method used genetic algorithm technique to generate secret key and to select optimum mixing matrix values. This key will be shared between only the message sender and receiver to ensure that the data sources are kept secure and hard to be detected by untrusted third parties. The results show that the proposed method improves the capability of hiding more than one image process inside the cover image. Also, the proposed method increases the effectiveness of the hiding capacity, security level and robustness to certain attack.

Nowadays, many pedestrians are victims of road accidents. Several artificial vision solutions, based on pedestrian detection, have therefore been developed to assist drivers and reduce the accident rate. But most of the proposed pedestrian databases make it possible to test detection only in favorable conditions. The main goal of this research is to provide a learning and testing environment for the development of pedestrian detectors able to function under all weather conditions by day and even by night. This paper presents a new database, called Cerema, composed of 10 sets which include normal and degraded conditions (day, night, fog, rain). Image data will include detailed annotations for each set. Two common detectors are used to show the usefulness of our database, which are HOG and Haar. Finally, the results obtained on this new database will be presented to show the impact of adverse weather conditions on these two different detectors.

Usability is considered as one of the most important quality factors for commercial Web interfaces, along with others such as performance and security. However, most of usability evaluation methods for these Web applications do not support automatic measures. This paper addresses these issues through the presentation of an automatic evaluation model based on a systematic qualitative technique to validate the quality of commercially-oriented web interfaces. Thus, a case study was conducted to analyze and validate the feasibility of the approach by applying a quality model. The proposed model was based on four key usability items, which consists of 32 dimensions and 73 criteria. The results suggest that the main usability factors for commercially-oriented web interfaces are: appreciation of design, good quality of information, security/privacy of users and ease of use.

This paper presents two novel heuristic algorithms for the design of wireless access networks (QoS-HWNDA-1, QoSHWNDA-2) adapted in the case of QoS networks, which is the prevalent situation in the evolution of 5G technology. Emphasis was given to the design of CDMA based wireless networks and Fixed Wireless networks considering QoS architectures. The objectives of these methods are first to place a number of access points/base stations in a number of candidate sites and then to assign a number of fixed wireless terminals to the selected access points/base stations, while ensuring QoS requirements. Both methods are based on Graph Theory and they are essentially greedy algorithms. Except from capacity constraints, wireless reception characteristics are also considered. The algorithms are capable of designing medium and large-scale networks at polynomial time. Both algorithms were compared with a rival optimization problem through a series of tests. The results indicate that as regards design costs the performance of the proposed heuristic algorithms is very close to this of the equivalent optimization problem. The solution times for the proposed heuristic algorithms are smaller especially when the number of the candidate access points/base stations becomes large.

Programming multicore based Digital Signal Processors (DSP) becomes increasingly complex. This complexity is related to the rapid evaluation of Telecommunication and multimedia systems accompanied by a rapid increase of user requirements in terms of latency, power computation, consumption, etc. Workflow showed to be a successful approach for programming the applications based on multi-cores DSP platforms. The main goal of this work is the design of a hardware/software system in an automated manner. In this paper, we present our proposed workflow taking as entry point a MATLAB/Simulink application. This workflow allows an automatic transformation from a Simulink model to synchronous dataflow (SDF) model, followed by a mapping and scheduling steps in order to obtain the C code to be executed by each core within the designed platform. Our approach is based on the synchronous and hierarchical behaviour of both Simulink and SDF, aiming to simplify the generation of a compatible C code. We present also a performance analysis to find an optimal number of cores to be used for a configured MIMO OFDM LTE that we give as example.
