This article provides an overview of some of the work The British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) members and staff are engaged in. Behind the scenes there are so many essential tasks to perform as a charity, employer and specialty association, but most members have little or no knowledge of the day‐to‐day activities of the organisation.

The treatment algorithm for metastatic prostate cancer has changed more in the last decade than in the previous 50 years. Testosterone suppression has for many years been the gold standard for men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer. However, randomised studies have now shown that escalation of therapy beyond testosterone depletion results in profound and clinically meaningful survival benefits. This review aims to summarise the latest advancement in the field focusing on treatment of newly diagnosed hormone‐sensitive prostate cancer.

Data from internet‐connected medical devices could provide the means for the next revolution in medicine. Health care apps accessed through smartwatches and other digital devices can improve access to a range of services and provide valuable health insights. However, there will be challenges in analysing the huge quantities of data generated as well as issues of ownership.

Testosterone deficiency is increasingly common and has significant health implications, but it can be challenging to diagnose and treat. Here the authors present a summary of a recent update to the British Society for Sexual Medicine (BSSM) guidelines on male adult testosterone deficiency.

Physical activity is likely to be beneficial for male sexual health, with some evidence suggesting it could be as effective as pharmacological therapy for certain aspects of male sexual dysfunction. More evidence of efficacy of physical activity in sexual dysfunction is needed. However, insights into possible mechanisms linking physical activity with improved male sexual function may give doctors confidence in recommending it for their patients, while waiting for more robust clinical trial evidence.
