The present study investigates the mediating role of psychological resilience on the relationship between authoritarian leadership and counterproductive work behaviors (sabotage, withdrawal, theft and abuse). The sample consisted of 227 male employee, mostly blue-collar, working in different sectors. Their ages ranged between 23 and 58. The results showed that psychological resilience partially mediates the relationship between authoritarian leadership and sabotage, withdrawal and theft sub-dimensions of couterproductive work behavior. Mediating role of resilience was not significant for abuse sub-dimension. These findings show that resilience is necessary to overcome the negative consequences of working with authoritarian leader. Hereby, these findings support literature that the psychological resilience ability is a crucial competency in stressful circumtances.

Small and medium-sized enterprises play an important role in developing the economies of nations as literature reveals. Through literature review and SME input, the researchers were able to identify several competencies that contribute to achieving Entrepreneurs Success. The statistical results show two most significant competency groups impacting the Entrepreneurial success: Human Relations Competencies affecting three distinct success dimensions: Ability to attract outside capital, Growth in Revenues and Growth in Customer Base. While the second was the Business and Management Competencies affecting three distinct success parameters: Ability to attract outside capital, Growth in Revenues and Providing Value Added Product or Service towards Creating an Entrepreneur Competencies Model.

In this study we critically review the employee voice literature and demonstrate the shift of voice arrangement from employee-oriented to organizational-oriented. We examine previous researches and theories concerning management and employee relation, and conceptual framework of different phases of the flow of employee voice in an organization. We illustrate the scales adopted to measure employee voice since 1983 and found that the scales used in literature are fundamentally measuring the traditional employee voice which lacks the ability to validate the overall dimensions of the modern employee voice. We conclude by discussing future research implication.

Construction industry is one of the important service sectors in Small and Medium Enterprises (SME). Construction industries are not “footloose” hence all progress that is made in improving the sustainability and performance of the construction industry benefit the region and countries they operate in. The aim of this study is to investigate the entrepreneurial skills of construction professionals in the built environment of the development of the service sector in Nigeria. This was achieved by establishing innovativeness of construction professionals, determining willingness take risk by construction professionals and the roles of human resource management of construction professionals actually contribute to the development of the service sector in Nigeria. In this study construction professionals were restricted to only those in the built environment, consist of Architects, Builders, Estate valuers, Land Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Town Planners. The questionnaire was designed based on open-ended format of the item used. A total of 304 questionnaires were sent out to registered professionals in the built environment in Abuja and Lagos towns were construction of the built environment is visible. 204 questionnaires representing 67% of the sample were returned and deemed useable. The data were analyzed using percentage, graph and linear regression for descriptive and inferential analyses, respectively. Study established that majority (83.8%) of the respondents agreed that entrepreneurial skills of construction professionals was statistically significant in explaining the development of the service sector in Nigeria. The study concluded that entrepreneurial skills of construction professionals contribute to the development of the service sector in Nigeria. The study recommends capacity building as this is paramount to development of the service sector in Nigeria through training, workshop etc.

When people obtains MBA degree, can he/she performs better in founding a firm than ones without it? If so, is it because of prestigious signal of MBA degree or because of acquired capability thorough the MBA program? In order to answer this question, we originally collected a survey of 1503 entrepreneurs in Japan via internet. We divide MBA degree effect on entrepreneurial activity into three effects; gifted talent, occupational experience and acquirement thorough MBA program. Gifted talent and occupational experiences of an individual enable him/he to entry a MBA program while this talent also enhance possibility to be a successful entrepreneur. When only these two effects matter on entrepreneurship, it leads that an MBA program signals that the entrepreneur is talented in nature and occupationally experienced but her/his capability acquired through the program do not matter on entrepreneurship. In our data, however, it is clarified that after controlling the effects of gifted talent and occupational experience, MBA still impacts entrepreneurship. This result implies that acquirement through MBA program positively affects on success of start-ups. This insight is useful for candidates of MBA program, who are also targeting to be entrepreneurs in the future and certificates that the program is worth to be invested for them.

Drawing from self-determination theory, this study investigated the influence of psychological need satisfaction as a determinant of entrepreneurship personality profile, thereafter a pre-determinant of entrepreneurial intentionality. Data was collected on a sample of 407 Chinese undergraduate students from four universities in Hefei-Anhui China. The results of structural equation modeling revealed that the satisfaction of each three psychological needs: autonomy, competence and relatedness was a significant positive predictor of entrepreneurship personality profile and altogether contributed to its variance. Entrepreneurship personality profile was a significant positive predictor of entrepreneurial intention at 67% variance. The study concludes with some theoretical and practical recommendations.

Although numerous studies have adopted social exchange theory to investigate the mechanism through which leadership influences employee voice behavior, few studies have placed their focus on the mediation of employees’ basic psychological needs. To address this research gap, this study adopted self-determination theory to explore how supervisor support encourages subordinates to engage in voice behavior. Furthermore, the moderating effect of impression management motive was clarified. This study adopted structural equation modeling and hierarchical regression approach to analyze 268 sets of data of a pair of supervisor and subordinate. The results revealed that basic psychological needs mediated the relationship between supervisor support and self-determined prosocial motivation, which, in turn, was positively related to voice behavior. In addition, subordinates’ impression management motive weakens the positive relationship between self-determined prosocial motivation and voice behavior.
