This paper presents an investigation into the performance of system identification using Backpropagation Multi-layer Perceptron Neural Networks algorithm for identification of a flexible plate system. Details of the implementation and the experimental studies are given and analyzed in the paper. The input-output data of the system were first acquired through the experimental studies using National Instrumentation (NI) data acquisition system. A sinusoidal force was then applied to excite the flexible plate and the dynamic response of the system was investigated. A linear parametric model of the system is developed using Recursive Least Square (RLS). Furthermore, a non-parametric model of the system is developed using Multi-layer Perceptron Neural Networks (MLP-NN). Later a comparative performance of the approaches used is presented and discussed. Finally, the validity of the obtained model was investigated using correlation tests.

In this paper, the classification of five types of rubber leaf disease by using the spectrometer and SPSS are presented. There are five of leaf disease that have been used as samples which are Oidium secondary leaf fall, Fusicoccum Leaf Blight, Bird eye’s spot and Anthracnose. The reflectance of the infected leaves sample is measured by using MCS600 Carl Zeiss spectrometer. Besides, Aspect Plus, a universal spectroscopy program from Zeiss manages to measure the spectral regions of the leaves sample. Further analysis and justification are completed by using approximate statistical tools from SPSS. The results obtained show that there are strong evidences that these diseases can be discriminated from each other using a spectrometer.

This paper presents the design and development of high performance accelerating and optimization technique for accelerate the process of DNA sequences alignment. The scope of the paper focuses on memory and speed optimization by optimizing and mapping the DNA sequences data before alignment. This optimization technique is designed based on novel data compression technique in optimizing the numbers of data transmitted from computer to DNA sequences alignment accelerator. Consequently, the numbers of data per serial data transmission for alignment can be optimize and accelerate up to 400% greater than conventional DNA sequences alignment accelerator system. This technique has been design and implemented on hardware based acceleration device and targeted to Altera Cyclone II 2C70 FPGA and using 50MHz oscillator for clock source. The code is written in verilog HDL syntax using Quartus 2 version 7.2 and the simulation is verified using Quartus 2 version 7.2 simulator tools. As a result, the theoretical analysis, simulation and implementation result based on development and implementation of the proposed design on FPGA are presented and well organized in this paper. The comparative study based on theoretical, simulation and implementation results of this technique has been made to accomplish result of analysis.

In environmental crisis enterprises’ propensity to collaborate plays a crucial role. To understand the adoption of collaborative systems, it is of great importance to know about economical effects of collaboration itself. Decision makers should be able to evaluate potential drawbacks and advantages of collaboration: strategies may be seen as a mixture of cost reduction, product differentiation and improvement of decision making and/or planning. In this context information technology may help a firm to create sustaining competitive advantages over competitors. The most important factors affecting benefits of collaboration are market structure, kind and degree of uncertainty faced by the firms, their risk preferences and the collaboration propensity. We present a microeconomic model and use techniques from game theory for the analysis. A new paradigm is formally introduced, taking into account human factor, to see how biased agents can influence the aggregate behaviour within an economic environment.

Human activity recognition is an active research field in computer vision and image processing. This paper has been concentrated on the recognition between different cyclic motion activities such as running and walking. The proposed system consists of three major steps. Initially by using a single camera, in a variety of angles, the movement of the object is detected, and object silhouette is generated in each frame. Then, our proposed method for generating a skeleton of silhouette is presented. The skeleton is used to determine human activities such as running and walking. In the last stage, a rule-based classifier is used to classify the action.

This paper is a review paper focusing on the methodological development of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), a multi-factor performance measurement and improvement tool. Since its introduction in 1978, vast studies have been done on DEA, causing significant growth in its methodology and applications in the real world. The purpose of this paper is to provide a general introduction to DEA. The basic DEA models and some important methodological extensions of DEA, such as multilevel DEA models, stochastic DEA models, and fuzzy DEA models, are discussed in the paper. In addition, some current and future research trends are highlighted.

This paper focuses on modeling and identification of environmental climates inside naturally ventilated tropical greenhouse (NVTG). The NVTG climate model is an essential tool for developing the climate control system. A real-time wireless monitoring system for measuring prototyped NVTG environmental climates for chili plantation was developed. The variables to estimate the NVTG outputs variables namely internal relative humidity and internal temperature are external temperature, external humidity, irradiance, and wind speed. Modeling based on mathematical equation as well as using system identification (SI) technique is outlined. The paper also highlights on SI procedure namely data acquisition, identified model structure that represents NVTG using NARX and ARX model structures, parameter estimation technique, and model validation. Simulation studies reveal that linear and nonlinear polynomial models are able to model and simulate the NVTG performance.

This paper describes the first phase of the development process of this project. There are two phases involve in this research work. In the first phase, PROTUES simulation tools were used to design, study and analyze the proposed research work. Results from the simulation will be use as reference to re-design and develop the real-time hardware-based system. In the second phase, the hardware will be developed based on the study and analysis carried out in the first phase. The developed hardware will be integrated to a stand-alone source powered via photovoltaic technology. This will be an added advantage to this system because it will be able to operate without having to connect to the electrical network system. Furthermore, the system is integrated to light dependent resistance and negative temperature coefficient sensors to automatically operate the system based on the sensors characteristics.

It is essential the contribution of the physics for the society development. People always try to make things which help them have a better life. The great discoveries were realized with empirical methods, but nowadays the technology of the information, which seems to be one of the most efficient methods, is used not only in physics, but also in other research fields. The created web service connects the informatics technology with the physics. The simulation bases on the numerical calculation. Its purpose is to present some specific cases and practical applications for a collection of less frequent phenomena, by using the Java language.

In industrial process, pipes and tank may leak and sensors may have biased since corrosion, measuring noise and instrument faults exist. In order to maintain production and to prevent accident from happen it is crucial to develop reliable method of analyses of flammable gas release and dispersion. Relative mass release of the leakage is introduced as the input for the simulation model and the data from the simulation model is taken at real time (on-line) to feed into the recursive algorithms. The objective of this paper is to introduce a combination of advantages of different algorithm scheme into one learning algorithm. For this purpose, three models is developed, first using recursive least square algorithm (RLS), second using recursive instrument variable (RIV) algorithm and lastly using combination of this two algorithms. This paper proposed that, combination of two algorithms into one learning algorithm for predicting mass flow rate of a flow with leakage resulting in a better mass prediction error as compared to a model with single learning algorithm.
