In this paper a triple wire medium is described as an isotropic negative dielectric permittivity medium. A numerical experiment was performed to validate the propagation of electromagnetic waves inside the wire mesh both below and above the plasma frequency. For a practical realization, a form of the triple wire medium using a planar technology is proposed.

This work deals with face detection with using of directly connected camera to signal processor Blackfin (produced by Analog Devices). This work consists of description of interconnection between monochromatic camera KAC-9618 and DSP processor Blackfin BF-537. An algorithm of face detection and algorithm for communication between camera and DSP are also included. First of them is based on using of backpropagation neural network. Camera is controlled by setting values of its registers via I2C serial bus. In addition, there is an overview of used neural network.

This paper is focused in the area of digital pre-distortion linearization of power amplifiers. It presents an adaptive system for simulation of digital predistortion algorithm with transmitter imperfection (amplitude imbalance, phase imbalance, DC offset, analog chain delay) compensation methods. These methods are presented and their performance is discussed.

In this article the determination of the time ratio of the optical wireless link (OWL) availability is considered. The possibility how to realize the bit error rate tester with El/Tl interface is presented. By means of this indicator we are able to establish the bit error ratio (BER) of the specific optical link and the percentage of link unavailability. We can determine these parameters for arbitrary time period. The influence of atmospheric attenuation on links parameters listed above is interesting. In this article the statistics of meteorological visibility for the year 2006 is also stated. With these data we can determine the percentage that the certain value of atmospheric attenuation occurs. Eventually it is shown that not only meteorological visibility is important for the OWL function.

This paper is focused on applications of the first and second Norton's transform in optimization of bandpass filters. Norton's transforms are practiced primarily in the final adjustment of filter design. An optimization procedure of filter synthesis can be based on different aspects and circuit requirements. The special design and optimization software for band-pass network was written in Borland C++ Builder 6, and that is discussed in the paper. This program allows the design of band-pass filter up to twentieth order with more repetition of Norton's transform in synthesized circuit including graphic and printing output.

This paper describes a method, which can be used for creating map of magnetic field. This method has a great usage in magnetic resonance tomography, when we need to get information about homogeneity and characteristics of magnetic field inside the working space of the MR tomograph. The main purposes of this article is describing basic principles of magnetic resonance phenomenon and mathematical method of Legendre polynoms. In the end of my article is experimental solution of magnetic field and models of magnetic field created by Matlab.

This paper deals with problem of digital group delay equalizer for various types of digital filters. Proposed method of equalization is evaluated for a set of digital allpass filters. Whole system is analyzed in Matlab environment. Genetic algorithm has been used to design group delay equalizer. In this paper, the method of genetic algorithm is applied to group delay correction of digital IIR bandstop filters. Three examples are presented to demonstrate efficiency of the proposed method. This genetic algorithm method is suitable also for basic types of digital filters with nonlinear phase frequency response.

The aim of this paper is not to bring a theoretical expressions and some new ideas in mixing theory, but only to show a simple wide band RF generator design with one mixing. The instrument is based on two integrated frequency synthesizers (ADF-4360-x) controlled by Atmel AVR microcontroller via integrated SPI bus. Wide frequency range is achieved by dividing ADF output signal by two using internal frequency divider, signal mixing and suitable switching. Frequency tunning is discontinuous (because of synthesizers), but ADFs are allowed to design frequency step of tens of kilohertzs. In this design, 1 MHz tunning step and (1-2837) MHz bandwidth are used. Simple output microwave lowpass filter (with 3 GHz limit frequency) and two microwave high-pass filters (with 1.7 GHz and 1.9 GHz limit frequencies) around mixer are included in generator design. Of course, microwave gain blocks, monolithic mixer and monolithic and discreet microwave switches are used in also.

Presented paper deals with description of a device intended for use in patient's head position monitoring after vitreoretinal surgery. Keeping the head in an optimum position during the post-operation period is crucial for the whole recovery process to proceed well. A device helping the patient in maintaining proper head position was developed. The design utilizes modern MEMS accelerometers and a powerful RISC microcontroller. The main effort led to designing a compact battery-powered device design capable of warning the patient in case of improper head position. Application of high-level programming language made the whole firmware development process as effective as possible.

Interest in active noise control has grown significantly over the past decades, successful industrial applications include active control of sound in headsets, in industrial ducts and in propeller aircrafts, to name a few. To extend the upper limiting frequency and attenuation zone of active noise control systems, one of the solution is to use a multiple channel active noise control (ANC) system with several secondary sources and error sensors. Multi-channel ANC also has application to a wide variety of problems in manufacturing, industrial operations, and consumer products. In this paper, recent developments in ANC technology are reviewed and the technical problems still standing in the way of widespread application are discussed. Current research directions are outlined and the future of the discipline is examined.
