Looking from a pastoral care and counseling perspective, prayer as a ritual is a human response for God’s action. As a response, prayer presupposes a responsible communication with God as absolute authority in one’s life. If the communication running well, the pastoral function of prayer as a ritual enhance people well-being mentality and spirituality. Therefore, when doing pastoral care or pastoral counseling, pastoral caregiver needs to make sure that people have healthy communication with true God as the Ultimate Absolute Authority. For those reasons, a pastoral caregiver should understand about the theological principle in praying and have ability to use prayer as pastoral means for themselves and people who need their pastoral ministry.

Ronald H. Cram said “the radical dialogue is an appropriate religious education model in pluralism context”. He contended that the radical dialogue consists of the hospitality principles that goes beyond tolerance. Unfortunately, his argumentations have not been based on the biblical tradition. In this paper, therefore, I would like to propose soteriology of the cross in Paul’s letters as a supporting tenet for implementing the radical dialogue in religious education, especially in Indonesian pluralism context. Based on the principles of soteriology of the cross in Paul’s letters, Christian comunity in Indonesia will be provoked to implement the radical dialogue. In order to clarify how the principles of soteriology of the cross are approprieated with the concept of the radical dialogue, I will delineate an Indonesian pluralism context succintly and an appropriate model of religious education in the context respectively.

This writing is to explore the strategy of Christian mission of Kyai Sadrach. Sadrach was a Javanese who proclaimed the Gospel by the cultural approaches. Sadrach could spread the Gospel effectively and his cultural approaches were accepted by the Javanese people at the time. The writer mentions that Sadrach’s mission was the Christian mission that reveals God’s glory. To achieve the aim in explaining the strategy of Sadrach’s mission, the writer talks about the life of Sadrach and his spiritual journey. The Church needs to learn from the strategy of Sadrah’s mission in order for her to proclaim the Gospel contextually.

This paper discusses a conflict involving Paul and Barnabas in Acts 15:35-41. Stott argued that this conflict is a sad story. Nevertheless, based on the narrative interpretation exploring some narrative components in Acts 15:35-41, namely plot, time and place setting, characters, and narrative rhetoric, this paper is to show that the story of the conflict is not a sad story. Actually, the story is a part of Luke’s rhetoric in exposing that the work of the Holy Spirit was not be able to be resisted by everything and telling about the consequences of different models of leadership especially in recruitment for the sake of God’s mission as well.

Pentecostal theology considers toward the reality of political power from pneumatological perspective. Political theology of Pentacostal asserts that such a reality is also the problem of spiritual ethic. It is a mistake if such a reality can be analysised from the methodological approach of academic socialonly. To achieve the aim of this writing, the writer will use the theological thinking of Amos Yong who emphasizes that the demonic reality can not be understood if it does not embody into a concrete form. Yong’s theology will be related to the theory of Daniel Day William who says that the manifestations of the demonic modes can be explained through the destructive impacts seen in human’s life. The perspective invites the readers to realize that they inherited the values from the colonialization time and therefore they need to re-think critically the interpretation of biblical texts which are fulfilled by the values of colonialism. Daniel 9:1-27 talks about God’s hope that makes His people to experience God’s freedom. Based on the texts above, the writer makes reflections about its meaning and tries to apply it in the context of the Church in the present situation.
