The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of various factors of business digitalization, such as digital procurement (DP), digital technology (DT), artificial intelligence (AI), digital social media (DSM), digital marketing and sales administration (DMA), on entrepreneurial growth (EG) in the handmade toy industry. This study also explores the mediating impact of managing the flow of the supply chain (MSC) between DSM and EG and the moderating impact of management with customers (RMC) on EG. In this study, researchers used a field survey method for data collection with a sample of 150 to validate the proposed hypothesis through convenience sampling from young handmade toy business owners from the State of Uttar Pradesh, India. For data analysis, this study used a partial least square (PLS)-SEM tool to check the validity and reliability of the suggested model. The study findings prove entrepreneurial growth is much more affected by various factors of digitalization, such as DP, AI, DT, and DSM. These factors have a significant impact on entrepreneurial growth. This study investigates young entrepreneurs' (artisans') entrepreneurial leadership in marketing, supply, and production exploration as the role of AI, DT, DSM, and TM has remained unexplored. The results suggest that the top executives should work on identifying and developing various factors that can boost the entrepreneurial growth of the handmade toys industry. This study is unique because no study has been done on the impact of AI, DSM, and DT on the Indian handmade toys industry. This study used the Dynamic Capability Theory (DCT), resource-based view (RBV) and extended the digital capability perspective.

This study investigates the role of decision-making as a critical challenge in the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, with a focus on the Algerian context. The first phase of this study involved the examination of several studies in the areas of ERP implementation, the decision-making process during ERP projects and its implications on the success or failure of the implementation. This was followed by the administration of semi-structured interviews with key members of the Cement Company of Ain El-Kebira (SCAEK), with the purpose of elucidating the impacts of the decision-making process on the failed ERP implementation. The study reveals that the centralization of strategic decision-making by the parent company (GICA) significantly influenced the implementation process. This top-down approach led to critical missteps, particularly in vendor and consultant selection, which failed to account for subsidiary-specific needs—ultimately contributing to project failure. This research underscores the pivotal role of decision-making—especially in early project phases—in shaping ERP outcomes. It advocates for decentralized, context-aware approaches to ERP planning and implementation, especially in multi-subsidiary structures.

This paper aims to identify and conceptualize the factors that facilitate the effective use of representational digital technologies for development (RDT4D) and the challenges faced by public service functionaries in developing country. Using inductive thematic analysis, the study also seeks to develop a framework for the effective use of RDT4D. The paper used an online qualitative survey design with self-administered semi-structured questionnaires to collect data from 190 users. The findings highlight several enablers for effective use of RDT4D, including transparent interaction, representational fidelity, management support, and verification, alongside contextual strategies such as blended-training for user communities and effective stakeholder communication. Conversely, barriers identified include representational infidelity, transparency deficiencies, human capital, financial and operational constraints, lack of RDT4D competencies, and insufficient stakeholder involvement. Additionally, novel barriers such as lack of management support, user training deficiencies, and resistance to change were observed. This paper uniquely contributes to the field by presenting a framework that introduces two new drivers and three new barriers to the effective use of RDT4D. Practitioners can utilize this framework as a component of their technology and innovation strategies to design and implement community-centered RDT4D effectively, and to test its applicability in various contexts. United Nations members and policymakers may adopt this framework to enhance the effective use of RDT4D.

This phenomenological study explores human-centric digital transformation within Industry 5.0, specifically focusing on family-owned SMEs in Sri Lanka. Despite their crucial economic role, these businesses encounter distinct challenges, such as succession transformation and the preservation of traditional values amid technological advancements. This study addresses the significant gap in literature regarding Industry 5.0 digital transformation in family-owned SMEs, particularly in developing economies like Sri Lanka. By exploring the lived experiences of a third-generation family-owned business, the study provides novel insights into balancing technological progress with the preservation of traditional values, contributing to a deeper understanding of digital transformation in culturally embedded SMEs. Using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), the research explores the lived experiences of ‘Aaseer Mixture’, a third-generation family-owned food and snacks manufacturing SME located in Northern Sri Lanka. Key themes identified through detailed interviews with family members include ownership insights on digital integration, empowering family-centric digital evolution and digital integration for business strategies. The study reveals how family dynamics and intergenerational differences impact decision-making processes related to digital transformation. Emphasizing the need for inclusive strategies that consider the intersecting circles of ownership, family, and business, the study develops a new human-centric digital transformation model tailored for family-owned SMEs. This model balances technological progress with the preservation of core family values and traditions, offering valuable insights for navigating digital integration. By highlighting the necessity of embracing digital technologies to maintain relevance and attractiveness to future generations, the study contributes to the literature on digital transformation in family-owned SMEs, especially within developing economies.

Sustainable family business performance has a complex relationship with knowledge transfer and knowledge sharing, as well as the mediating role of digital transformation and innovation capability of family businesses. This study examines these dynamics within family businesses in India. Data was collected from 259 family businesses using a survey method, and the analysis was performed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings show positive and significant relationships among most variables, except for knowledge transfer and digital transformation, which showed a positive but insignificant effect. This weak correlation can be attributed to several factors, such as cultural and value differences and a lack of integrity and trust across generations. This study provides valuable insights into the benefits of digital transformation for policymakers, practitioners, and family business owners, emphasizing its importance in the context of an emerging advanced economy.

This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that are preventing the adoption of mobile banking in underdeveloped regions of Indonesia. A modified push–pull–mooring (PPM) framework is being used to propose a theoretical model providing valuable information for banks and the government. This information will help in formulating strategic measures to address the low adoption of this platform in the area. This research employs quantitative methods. The author gathers primary data from 362 respondents in West Sumba Regency by distributing self-administered offline questionnaires. SEM techniques are utilized to analyze the proposed model using AMOS software. The findings suggest that perceived convenience has the most significant impact on low mobile banking adoption, followed by low trust in government, perceived risk, high switching costs, habits, and low information quality, which are the least significant factors. Additionally, low innovativeness was found to have no significant impact on low mobile banking adoption. The focus of this research is to identify the factors that can hinder or facilitate mobile banking adoption in underdeveloped regions in Indonesia, which is different from previous research. It is important to investigate this because consumers in those areas primarily engage in cash transactions and wait in lines at ATMs for financial dealings such as transfers, payments, purchases, and balance checks, thus making the adoption of mobile banking difficult to implement in society. Additionally, this research utilizes the push–pull–mooring theory, which has been modified from its original concept to make it suitable for explaining consumer behavior related to low adoption behavior.

It is important to investigate this because consumers in those areas primarily engage in cash transactions and wait in lines at ATMs for financial dealings such as transfers, payments, purchases, and balance checks, thus making the adoption of mobile banking difficult to implement in society. Additionally, this research utilizes the push–pull–mooring theory, which has been modified from its original concept to make it suitable for explaining consumer behavior related to low adoption behavior.</p>\u0000 </div>","PeriodicalId":46610,"journal":{"name":"Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries","volume":"91 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2025-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144308925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Public institutions in Tanzania have been adopting an increasingly web-based system to enhance service delivery to citizens. These institutions have constantly employed various security measures to protect their information assets. Despite the security solutions invested, public institutions face challenges in appropriately identifying and selecting the information security measures (ISMs) to combat and mitigate security flaws properly. This study aimed to develop a new ISMs framework for enhancing the effectiveness of the ISMs implemented in public institutions. The study employed a survey method in which the survey questions were newly developed for this study. Questionnaires and documentary sources were used for data collection across three government institutions. Furthermore, the study employed SPSS to carry out data analysis. Additionally, the study employed the TOPSIS method to analyze the criticality of ISMs based on three (3) security objectives as criteria and a five-point Likert Scale. The findings from the study revealed that public institutions had sufficient technical and financial capability but lacked IT personnel capability. Furthermore, the study findings revealed that access control and cryptographic systems are the most critical security measures to reduce and mitigate security threats and risks. Based on the study findings, a new ISM framework guiding ISMs in public institutions was developed and validated. The study suggested the security framework developed to be adopted by public institutions and organizations of a similar nature to enhance, secure, and strengthen informational assets.

Problematizing the Determinants of Success of Interoperability of Information Systems Through the Lens of Stakeholder Theory and Enterprise Interoperability Framework

Although the success of information systems (IS) interoperability projects could be influenced by the actions of stakeholders, there is still a paucity of evidence on how stakeholders affect the success of IS interoperability projects, to guide practitioners when undertaking IS interoperability projects that involve multiple stakeholders. To fill this void, we conducted a qualitative study, in which two exploratory case studies were used to understand how different stakeholders affect IS interoperability projects, the nature of barriers posed by stakeholders to the success of IS interoperability projects, and the specific enterprise interoperability levels affected by the actions of stakeholders. Data was collected through stakeholders' workshops, project progress meetings, in situ interviews, participant observations, and document reviews. Among other things, the following were found: stakeholders with flexible organizational and technological structures tend to support IS interoperability more than stakeholders who lack these qualities; data interoperability is the level that is mostly affected by the actions of IS interoperability stakeholders, because most IS interoperability projects focus primarily on exchanging data. It was also learned that focusing on what happens after data exchange could increase the chances of success of an IS interoperability project. Theoretically, the present study problematizes the determinants of success of IS interoperability projects. Practically, we offer insights on how stakeholders affect IS interoperability projects and how to navigate the challenges presented by stakeholders of multi-faceted nature to the success of IS interoperability projects.

Beyond Pixels: How Instagram Shapes Candidate Images in Indonesia's 2024 Election

This study offers a novel contribution to digital political marketing research by positioning voter attitudes as a central psychological mechanism linking social media content strategies to candidate image (CI) formation—a relationship that remains underexplored in existing literature. Drawing on data from 544 voters and analyzed using structural equation modeling, the study empirically examines how Instagram-based campaign elements (content quality, interaction, and message credibility) affect both voter attitudes and candidate perception. The results reveal that high-quality content and credible messaging significantly enhance CI via attitudinal pathways, whereas social media interaction shows negligible impact. These findings challenge the prevailing assumption that interactive features alone drive voter engagement, emphasizing instead the primacy of substance and credibility in digital campaigning. By uncovering this mediating process, the study advances theoretical understanding of political persuasion on social media and offers practical guidance for more effective campaign strategy design.
