Background: To explore the optimal dosage of heparin in peripheral arteriovenous automatic synchronous exchange transfusion therapy for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia.

Methods: A total of 185 neonates received peripheral arteriovenous synchronous blood exchange transfusion for hyperbilirubinemia were enrolled from pediatric department of the Ganzhou People's Hospital between January 2018 and June 2020, which were randomly divided into four groups. On the basis of exchange transfusion, different dose of heparin was pumping at the bleeding site of artery (A: no heparin; B: 100 U/h heparin; C: 200 U/h heparin; D: 300 U/h heparin). The indexes of exchange transfusion efficacy, including total bilirubin conversion rate, indirect bilirubin conversion rate, hemoglobin concentration, the platelet number and APTT value was measured before and after therapy. The sites of artery puncture, the sites and rate of vascular occlusion were counted and analyzed.

This study examined the impact of two questionnaire characteristics, scale position and questionnaire length, on the prevalence of random responders in the TIMSS 2015 eighth-grade student questionnaire. While there was no support for an absolute effect of questionnaire length, we did find a positive effect for scale position, with an increase of 5% in random responding over the course of the questionnaire (in both the shorter and the longer version). However, scale character turned out to be an unexpected but more important determinant. Scales about students’ confidence in mathematics or science showed an increase of 9% in random responding, which is double the impact of scale position. Potential mechanisms underlying the confidence case and general implications of the results for questionnaire design are discussed.

Abstract In the current study, we used latent profile analysis to investigate the Dimensional Clinical Personality Inventory 2 capacity to discriminate psychopathy traits in a sample of adults. Participants were 628 adults from the general population recruited by convenience. Our latent profile analysis recovered two groups: Psychopathic Tendencies and Empathetic Tendencies. The psychopathic tendencies group scored higher in all the IDCP-2 factors comprising psychopathy features. Although our study has sample restrictions, we found evidence for using IDCP-2 factors to discriminate people with low and high levels of psychopathic traits. We discuss the theoretical and practical implications of our findings.

This study aims to assess student motivation to provide valid responses to the PISA student questionnaire. This was done by modeling response times using a three-component finite mixture model, comprising two satisficing response styles (rapid and idle) and one optimizing response style. Each participant’s motivation was operationalized as their probability of providing an optimizing response to questionnaire items. Overall, the model offered a good fit to the data. Results indicate that most responders were motivated to optimize, with a slight decline toward the end. Further, results showed a positive effect of questionnaire-taking motivation on PISA performance, suggesting a positive relationship to test-taking motivation. In conclusion, response times can be valuable indicators for assessing survey response quality and may serve as a proxy for test-taking motivation.

AbstractIn this study, we illustrated an application of the confirmatory mixture IRT model for multidimensional tests. We aimed to examine the differences in student performance by domains with a confirmatory mixture IRT modeling approach. A three-dimensional and three-class model was analyzed by assuming content domains as dimensions and cognitive domains as item groups. We estimated the item performance differences among the students through structural parameters. There were 463 students from Turkey and 880 students from Canada who participated in the TIMSS 2015 4th-grade mathematics assessment. Results for Turkey indicated, students in Class 2 had better performance in knowing and reasoning compared to those in Classes 1 and 3. Students in Class 2 and Class 3 were similar in applying math concepts compared to students in Class 1. For the Canadian sample, students in Class 2 had better performance in knowing, applying, and reasoning compared to those in Class 1 and 3. Also, Class 3 students were better at applying domain than Class 1. Also, mean values were obtained for all content domains in the two countries. A study of Test-Taking strategies of Iranian IELTS repeaters: Any change in the strategy use? 伊朗雅思复读生的应试策略研究:策略使用有变化吗?

Abstract This study used Latent Growth Curve Modeling (LGCM) to examine the overtime patterns of the score and test-taking strategy changes in an international high-stakes standardized proficiency test. To this end, the test records of 178 Iranian IELTS repeaters were analyzed, using close- and open-ended questionnaires to measure test scores as a function of construct-relevant and construct-irrelevant test-taking strategy changes. Additionally, this study explored the accountable factors for the changes in the repeaters’ strategies. Results indicated a small and gradual increase in the test scores following an overall augmented use of test-management (TM) and a decreased employment of test-wiseness (TW) strategies. Along with contributing to IELTS validity evidence based on the repeaters’ scores, this study found multiple sources to account for the changes in repeaters’ test-taking strategies. Consideration of changes in repeaters’ test-taking strategies by IELTS instructors and test users may add to the validity of interpretation of test scores to the intended purposes of the tests.
