Abstract Understanding client variables relevant to clinical decision-making is a core feature of psychotherapy. The previous meta-analysis emphasized variables related to stages of psychotherapy, motivational stages of change, alliance, reactance, coping, attachment styles, and emotional stability in psychotherapy outcomes. However, a clinical measure that captures these empirically based clinical variances is missing. The present study describes the development and preliminary analysis of the Clinical Decision-Making Inventory (CDMI) in a sample of individuals engaged in a psychotherapeutic process. One hundred and twenty-three participants ( M = 20.28, SD = 5.80) engaged in a psychotherapy process, were assessed in a cross-sectional design. On one hand, the stages of psychotherapy, motivational stages of change, reactance, coping, attachment styles, and emotional stability were negatively correlated with symptomatology, cognitive fusion, interpersonal problems, coping mechanisms, and expressive suppression. On the other hand, correlated positively with metacognition and cognitive reappraisal. Attachment style and emotional stability predicted symptomatology. The CDMI showed promising results; however, more research is required to deepen the psychometric analysis.

Abstract In this study, we reported the effect of an online business coaching intervention based on the rational-emotive and cognitive behavior therapy coaching (RE-CBT coaching) approach that was tested to determine if it can improve college students’ financial risk tolerance and attitudes towards financial risk. The researchers used an open label, group randomized control design. During the study, fifty-four participants were part of the online business coaching group, whereas fifty-three participants were part of the control group. Prior to and immediately after the coaching program, as well as three months later, quantitative data was collected. Posttest data based on test of between-subjects effects revealed that online business coaching program based on RE-CBT coaching approach was significantly helpful in the improvement of students’ financial risk tolerance and attitudes toward financial risk compared to control group. Follow-up data based on test of between-subjects effects further revealed that the significantly helpful effects of online business coaching program based on RE-CBT coaching approach on students’ financial risk tolerance and attitudes toward financial risk were sustained when compared to control group. According to the findings, online business coaching based on RE-CBT coaching approach has the potential to enhance the financial risk tolerance and attitudes toward financial risk among college students.

Abstract Procrastination as an intentional delay of personal tasks in spite of anticipating negative consequences as a result is a widespread behavior, particularly among young adults. Previous research points to a reduction of procrastinatory tendencies across the adult lifespan; it is unclear to date which mechanisms underlie this decrease of procrastination behavior. Given evidence of fear of failure strongly influencing younger adults to postpone the start or delay of intended actions, as well as a possible decrease of fear of failure with increasing age, this study set out to explore a potential mediating effect of fear of failure on procrastination. A total of 197 participants, aged 18 to 90 years, took part in this study via online questionnaires. Statistical analyses showed that procrastination behavior decreased across the adult lifespan. Higher levels of fear of failure were linked to more procrastination behavior. A mediation analysis indicated that the relationship between age and procrastination was mediated by fear of failure. Results are discussed in terms of theoretical and practical implications.
