: This research article presents a comprehensive Exploration of the role of Islam in the socio-economic empowerment of the youth in Makululu community of Kabwe - Zambia. The aims of the study was to understand the Islamic context of youth economic empowerment, seek to know the strategies Moslems employed in empowering the youth and assess the benefits the youths derived from the empowerments. The study employed a purposively selected sample of 118 participants comprising 7 Muslim Leaders, 66 Muslim youths, 44 Non-Muslim youths and 1 NGO representative and used a combination of interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) as the foundation for data collection. A special aspect of purposive sampling strategy called the Exemplar of the phenomenon of interest was also applied in selecting a single significant case which was thought of having a wealth of rich information (key informant) required by the study. Transcripts of the interviews and recorded FGDs were analysed thematically for perceptions of the respondents on the role of Islam in the Socio-economic empowerment of youths. Findings: The study unearthed critical conclusion that Muslims do play a significant role in the socioeconomic empowerment of the youth in Makululu Community in particular, and Zambia in general. However, a few Non-Muslim Youths did not fully appreciate the impact of empowerment. This could be because Kabwe does not, as yet, have an Islamic Youth Centre for most youth to access information and support they need, as they do not visit the local Mosque. Appropriate recommendations are given.

: This essay analyzes Vladimir Nabokov’s Pale Fire through one common strand unifying the narrative of John Shade the poet and Charles Kinbote the commentator: the number two. Tracking how Kinbote evolves from an unskilled balancer of the number two to a successful one – just like the poet – this essay aims to provide backing to the literary theory that the commentator takes over the identity of Shade upon the poet’s death.

diverse. First, influenced by Marx, Adorno endorses the thought that, from a technological perspective, the unleashed production forces provide the possibility for men to engage in “contemplation without inhumanity” and are conducive to the substantial happiness of human Abstract: Adorno is frequently engaged in dialogue with Marx when examining the unleashing of production forces, which, in his writings, Adorno presents mainly in three contexts. First, Adorno affirms, from a technological perspective, that the unleashed production forces lay the material foundation for “contemplation without inhumanity”, which provides the possibility for human liberation. For this possibility to become a reality, Adorno states further, all exploitative systems must be eliminated absolutely. Secondly, Adorno cogitates on productivity in the interrelationship between production forces and production relationships. Based on his study of late capitalist society which he regards as “all of a piece”, Adorno argues that production forces have been reduced to a defender to preserve capitalist relationships, rather than performing a revolutionary role. However, as evidenced by the law of declining rate of general profit, the micro-foundation of the essential contradiction of historical materialism, the development of production forces remains the underlying obstacle that cannot be overcome by capitalist production relationships. Finally, Adorno criticizes Marx for not going beyond industrialism; while, he endorses the abolition of production for production’s sake and the primacy of practice. However, Adorno is guilty of the intellectual error of simply equating productivism, the primacy of practice, and industrialism.

sustainable development goals. Abstract: Public sectors worldwide have faced a performance crisis, with public employees being stereotyped as lethargic and bureaucratic and public agencies being seen as large, wasteful and inefficient. This has increased the demand for efficiency, leading to the adoption of Digital Transformation (DT) approaches from outside the public sector. DT is considered a path to efficiency, fostering innovation, inclusivity, and sustainable growth. However, human effort and accumulated knowledge drive the use of digital tools for organisations and nations to adapt to change. This paper aims to assess the impact of DT on employee performance in Zambia’s Ministry of Health Headquarters by establishing whether key technologies in DT have been implemented at the Ministry, their effect on employee performance and subsequent constraints and challenges. The study used a mixed-method approach; quantitative data were collected from 41 employees using questionnaires and qualitative data were collected from two key informants (managers) using interview guides. Quantitative data were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software and qualitative data were analysed using content analysis. The study findings revealed that the key technologies were implemented in the Ministry though in phases as the process was still underway. The digital tools implemented positively influenced employee performance in terms of tasks, adaptability and contextual but there were challenges and constraints such as connectivity issues, limited access to digital tools in isolated cases, inadequate resources and training. Hence the recommendation that since digital tools positively impact employee performance, there is need for government to provide the necessary tools, skills, resources, stable connectivity and training of employees in using digital tools.
