Surgical Outcomes of Type 1 Tympanoplasty in Chronic Otitis Media in Paediatric Patients: A Prospective Study. 儿科慢性中耳炎患者1型鼓室成形术的手术效果:一项前瞻性研究。

Objectives: To observe the surgical outcome of type 1 tympanoplasty in paediatric patients in the form of graft uptake and audiological improvement. Materials and methods: A prospective study was done in which 40 paediatric patients in age group 6-16 years, diagnosed of chronic otitis media, were taken up for tympanoplasty under general anaesthesia. Patients were followed in post operative period at 4, 6 and 12 weeks for assessment of graft status and audiological evaluation. Results: In this study, we found surgical success rate in the form of graft uptake in 80% of the cases and audiological improvement in 75% of the cases. Conclusion: Tympanoplasty is safe and effective in children with adequate graft uptake and audiological outcome.

ABSTRACTUncertainty exists as to the role of placement conditions of filtered tailings on water retention behaviour. In this study, we measured 12 drying and 12 wetting soil water characteristic curves on two filtered tailings with various initial gravimetric water contents and dry densities. Filtered tailings at ≥90% standard Proctor maximum dry density maintained higher degrees of saturation under suctions between 15 and 600 kPa, when compared to loosely placed (80% compaction) filtered tailings. Productivity estimation of battery trolley mining truck fleets 电池小车矿用卡车车队生产率估算

ABSTRACTThe mining sector is facing an immediate challenge to reduce its carbon emissions. The movement of material with mining truck fleets is a critical factor in reducing emissions. As the industry gradually replaces diesel trucks with more environmentally friendly transportation systems, it is important to analyse new solutions. This paper presents a new type of mining truck fleet called the Battery Trolley system, which is a combination of advanced technologies, including a battery-electric drivetrain, autonomy, trolley assist, and energy recovery systems. Depending on the site-specific differences and technology adoptions, decision-makers have three Battery Trolley system configurations to choose from: dynamic charging, stationary charging, and dual trolley Battery Trolley systems, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages. One of the challenges of using Battery Trolley systems is their capacity and productivity. This study uses open-accessible project parameters and databases, with engineering assumptions, to create a mining scenario for both the dynamic charging and stationary charging perspectives. The study provides an equation to evaluate the Battery Trolley system’s mining productivity. Results show an incremental analysis of the Battery Trolley productivity as the trolley power increases from 8 MW to 32 MW in various Battery Trolley configurations. The study compares the Battery Trolley productivity for several open-pit mining applications, including copper, iron, and overburden waste. Effect of submerged curing on properties of cemented paste backfill 浸没养护对胶结膏体充填体性能的影响

ABSTRACTMine stopes are often characterised by near-saturate conditions from constant water inflow from the ore body. Although significant research has been conducted on mechanical properties of cemented paste backfill, there are limited studies on curing practices that reflect saturate conditions. This study examines the effects of submerged curing to simulate saturate conditions. The results indicate that observed dark grey colouration associated with submerged curing is similar to ‘greening effect’ observed in concrete material containing Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag. ABSTRACTThe Mohr-Coulomb elastoplastic model is extensively employed in geotechnical engineering. Despite the well-known nonlinear behaviour of granular cohesionless materials under a wide range of normal stress or confining pressure, the Mohr-Coulomb elastoplastic model continues to be largely used in geotechnical engineering, due to its simplicity and large availability in numerous commercialised software. Its application requires the input of a key parameter, named Poisson’s ratio. It is however a big challenge as its value changes with axial strain and confining pressure. In this study, the optimal Poisson’s ratio of granular materials for the Mohr-Coulomb elastoplastic model is determined by reproducing the experimental results of stress-strain relationships through numerical modelling with the Mohr-Coulomb elastoplastic model. The results show that the Poisson’s ratio μ0.02, corresponding to the slope of the volumetric strain against axial strain curve at 2% of the peak deviatoric stress can be used in numerical modelling with the Mohr-Coulomb elastoplastic model as long as the granular material does not exhibit dilation behaviour. When the material exhibits dilation behaviour, the Poisson’s ratio μ0.36, corresponding to the slope of the volumetric strain against axial strain curve at 36% of the peak deviatoric stress, seems to be appropriate in numerical modelling with the Mohr-Coulomb elastoplastic model. ABSTRACTCemented Paste Backfill (CPB) undergoes transient changes in stress behaviour during curing, influenced by geothermal gradient and cement hydration. This study explores CPB’s response to temperature variations in a semi-confined narrow wall, simulating mining stope conditions. The results revealed that arching effects restricts vertical expansion of CPB slurry leading to temperature-induced thermal stress that often exceeding total stress estimation. Temperature change at different stage of backfill resulted in different level of stress generated due to the material state. ABSTRACTAs relict features of coal mines, carbonaceous spoil, waste and tailing dumps remain susceptible to coal oxidation and thermal decomposition, together with spontaneous combustion. Modern methods for monitoring surface thermal signatures regularly include the use of UAV’s, equipped with suitably sensitive infrared cameras. Detection of sub-surface thermal anomalism includes Vegetation Index Monitoring and/or the use of in-ground probes.
