Introduction: Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare neoplasm that may present sporadically or in the context of a genetic syndrome. Diagnosis and management are challenging due to the lack of consensus on the optimal management strategy. Case report: We report the case of a 51years old male, diagnosed initially with parathyroid carcinoma, and presented recurrence and lymph node involvement. Conclusions: Parathyroid carcinoma is a very rare cancer, that continues to pose considerable challenges in terms of diagnosis and management. The aim of parathyroid carcinoma therapy is not only oncological, but also to achieve biochemical remission. Surgery is the gold standard treatment of this entity. Future prospective randomized studies are needed to assess the effects of different surgical approaches on morbidity, mortality and oncological outcomes. Background and Objectives: Knee deformity associated with osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common complications reported to orthopaedic surgeons. Genu valgum and genu varum are the most commonly occurring deformities due to knee osteoarthritis. When there is progression in degeneration due to osteoarthritis, deformities tend to worsen and will eventually lead to reduction in cadence rate, hindfoot angle, range of motion in both hip and knee. Thus, this study is conducted to analyze these parameters like cadence, hindfoot angle, hip internal flexion, knee flexion, WOMAC scale and VAS pain rating scale between the groups of individuals with genu valgum and genu varum deformity. Methodology: A convenient division was made of a total of 80 knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients into two groups by measuring their medial tibiofemoral angle, namely genu valgum and genu varum. The patients were evaluated for various parameters including gait cadence, reduced knee flexion, hip internal rotation, hind foot angle, WOMAC scale, and VAS pain scale. The discrepancies in these parameters were analyzed between the genu valgum and genu varum groups. This study design represents a cross-sectional approach. Results: The Independent t-test was used to examine the results among the groups, with a significance level set at p ≤ 0.05. Considerable statistical changes were observed in cadence, hindfoot angle, knee flexion ROM, and hip internal rotation ROM, with corresponding p-values of 0.0006, 0.049, 0.002, and 0.01, respectively. However, no significant differences were found in the case of the WOMAC scale and VAS pain rating scale between the groups with genu valgum and genu varum deformities, as their p-values were considerably higher than the significance level (0.169, 0.948). Conclusion: The objective of the study was to gain insight into the biomechanical and functional condition of individuals suffering from knee osteoarthritis. Substantial differences were observed between the groups regarding cadence, hindfoot angle, knee flexion range of motion (ROM), and hip internal rotation ROM. However, when evaluating the WOMAC scale and VAS pain rating scale, both groups exhibited nearly identical values, indicating a lack of statistical significance in these outcome measures. Keywords: Knee osteoarthritis, genu valgum, genu varum, tibiofemoral angle, cadence, hindfoot angle, knee flexion ROM, hip internal rotation ROM, WOMAC scale, VAS scale.

Stroke affects approximately 15 million people worldwide every year and among those, between 55% and 75% of these survivors continue with motor deficits and reduce quality of life following the event. Balance impairment is a common consequence of a stroke, which can significantly hinder individual’s participation in daily activities, social interactions, and leisure pursuits and their ability to return to work. Rehabilitation is vital for minimizing post-stroke sequelae and facilitating the recovery of patients. Virtual reality is that allows users to interact with a multisensory simulated environment and receive real-time feedback on performance. In this case report we presented a 50-year-old patient diagnosed as stroke had left hemiparesis and having difficulty in maintaining balance and walking and enrolled in physical rehabilitation for 6 weeks in that we incorporated virtual reality therapy to improve balance and quality of life. Where he had positive results and recovered well. Keywords: Stroke, Balance impairment, Virtual Reality therapy, Physical rehabilitation

Blood Pressure (BP) is the pressure of the blood flow which exerted against the wall of arteries when the ventricles contract. BP measurement based on guidelines is quality care and safe nursing practice. Adherence to guidelines reduces inaccuracies that may expose the patient to misdiagnosis and inappropriate care An infant may have a pretty common blood pressure of 80/45 mm of Hg, while that evaluation in an adult is considered low. A teenager may have a satisfactory blood pressure of 110/70 mm of Hg, but that value would be of apprehension in a toddler. Measurement of BP in children is more difficult than in adults because readings are likely to be falsely high in crying children, and an appropriately sized cuff may not be available. According to Paediatric resuscitation guidelines 2012, it is important to measure Blood Pressure while assessing a sick child to determine the circulatory and neurological status. Therefore, BP measurement based on guidelines becomes truly a valuable tool in screening for high-risk patients, early detection and control of hypertension, and prevention of complications. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: “A Descriptive Study to assess adherence to the standard operating procedure in blood pressure measurement of children above three years of age among nurses working in the paediatric unit at Pondicherry institute of medical sciences” OBJECTIVES: 1. To determine the level of adherence among the staff nurses in following the standard operating procedure in blood pressure measurement in pediatric patients admitted to the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences. 2. To identify the barriers in adhering to the standard operating procedure in blood pressure measurement. 3. To associate the demographic variables of staff Nurses with their level of adherence in following standard operating procedures for BPM. METHODOLOGY A descriptive non-experimental method was used to assess the level of adherence of standard operating procedures in blood pressure measurement of children above three years of age. The study was conducted in the pediatric ward, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, Pondicherry, in September 2019. Purposive sample method was used and the sample included 33 nurses. Each sample was observed three times using the observational checklist, which consists of twelve steps. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. Frequency and percentage were used to assess the adherence level in following the standard operating procedure in blood pressure measurement. RESULT The result of the analysis of data shows that the majority of 32 (97 %) were female nurses, 31(94%) had B.Sc. Nursing degree and the majority of 27 (81.8 %) had work experience less than 4 years. Out of 33 participants, 6 (18.2 %) had adhered to the standard operating procedure in blood pressure measurement, 27 (81.8 %) were not able had adhered at all times while checking blood pressure with Aneroid BP Apparatus. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a common inflammatory lung disease characterized by persistent respiratory symptoms and airflow limitation. There is compelling evidence that regular exercise can lower the chance of developing several chronic diseases. Although it helps in reducing COPD symptoms and improve quality of life, which is highly beneficial for COPD patients, there are still several reasons for barriers to adherence to exercise in COPD patients which further affects their health. Most COPD patients are typically compelled to minimize exercise and adopt sedentary lifestyles due to decrease activity related dyspnea and exercise tolerance. Relevant literature was obtained from platforms such as Google Scholar and PubMed. For thorough retrieval, the Boolean logic operators “AND, OR NOT” were applied. All pertinent keywords, mesh terms, and other index terms were searched for in relation to “barriers,” “facilitators,” “chronic obstructive pulmonary disease” and “exercise” which were then utilized to build the search strategy. This review found that exercise improved dyspnea, quality of life, lessened depression, enhanced cognitive and neurobehavioral function in COPD patients, and shortened hospital stays and COPD exacerbations. Many factors act as barriers of adherence to exercise among COPD patients, such as self, environment, health and psychosocial. While numerous factors such as positive feedback, support from family, self-initiation, etc. act as a facilitator of adherence to exercise among COPD patients. Keywords: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, barriers, facilitators, benefits of exercise.

The study was conducted to examine the prevalence and intensity of urinary Schistosomiasis haematobium in two Kona ward settlement of Ardo kola local government, area of Taraba State, Nigeria. The study employed urine filtration technique using polycarbonate membrane filters to detect Schistosoma haematobium eggs in urine. Standard culture techniques to isolate urinary tract pathogens with their susceptibility patterns were carried out. Questionnaires were administered to collect information on socio-demographic data on the children. A total of 1153 urine samples were collected and analysed for the eggs of Schistosoma haematobium, Out of 675 children infected with urinary schistosomiasis, the highest occurrence of bacteriuria (61.3%) was recorded in the heavy intensity (>50 eggs/10ml urine) while low intensity (1 – 50 eggs/10ml urine) recorded the lowest occurrence of bacteriuria (59.2%). Chi square analysis showed significant association between intensity and bacteriuria (χ2 = 309.5, p = 0.000). Spearman’s correlation coefficient for bacteriuria also showed significant relationship between urinary schistosomiasis and bacteriuria (r = 0.518, p<0.001). The percentage occurrence of E. coli in heavy ova intensity (>50 eggs/10ml urine) is slightly higher (56.9%) than in light intensity (55.0%). Occurrence of Klebsiella spp in heavy intensity is slightly above (24.9%) that of light intensity (24.4%). P aeroginosa and Proteus spp occur more in light intensity (24.9%) and (28.9%) respectively than in heavy intensity (14.2%) and (14.6%) respectively. Occurrence of S. aureus is significantly higher in heavy intensity (4.2%) than in light intensity (1.7%). In subjects negative for urinary schistosomiasis, occurrence of bacteria isolates follows similar pattern with Klebsiella spp occurring more (3.3%) than the other isolates. These findings indicate that the areas is endemic to urinary schistosomiasis and therefore prompt intervention in the study areas is needed. Few innovations in history have left such an indelible mark on people’s daily lives as the Internet has, representing a boundless and endlessly exciting frontier of human ingenuity and connectivity. However, its ever-increasing importance and variety of activities has led to its uncontrolled use, known as problematic Internet use. The relationship between problematic Internet use and psychosocial well-being, including loneliness and life satisfaction, has greatly attracted much research interest over the years, with consistently mixed findings. Therefore, the current study examined the effect of loneliness and life satisfaction on problematic Internet use. A factorial (2x2) independent measures ANOVA was used with a total of 200 participants, of which 125 were females and 75 were males aged 18 to 49 years (M=25.7; SD=7.27). The UCLA Loneliness Scale, Satisfaction With Life Scale and Problematic Internet Use Questionnaire were administered. The results revealed that there was a significant main effect of loneliness on problematic Internet use (F(1,196)=18.05, p<0.001). Similarly, life satisfaction significantly affected problematic Internet use (F(1,196)=13.1, p<0.001). However, the interaction effect of loneliness and life satisfaction on problematic Internet use, produced non-significant results (F(1,96)=3.46, p=0.064). The limitations of the study were also discussed. Further research is needed to explore the longitudinal patterns of problematic Internet use, including additional influencing factors, in order to facilitate targeted interventions and prevention strategies.
