Halicoides is a diverse genus of Pardaliscid previously known from the Atlantic Ocean (North and SE), and the Pacific Ocean (SW and NE). This is the first record of Halicoides from off the Brazilian coast, SW Atlantic Ocean. Samples were collected with box core and/or van veen grabs between Espírito Santo, Campos and Santos Basins (19º–26º S), from shallow waters to deep-sea depths (29–3084 m), expanding the world bathymetry of the genus. Two new species is herein described, Halicoides campensis sp. nov., which differs from all Halicoides species by combination of characters as: gnathopod 1, carpus and propodus with sparse setae; pereopods 3–4, merus and carpus strongly robust; urosomite 2 with dorsal tooth tiny, but distinguishable; uropod 3, outer ramus bi-articulated with small article 2 about 10% the length of the ramus; and Halicoides iemanja sp. nov., which can be distinguished by antenna 1, primary flagellum with many long aesthetascs; pereopods 3–4, merus and carpus weakly expanded; urosomite 2 dorsally smooth; pereopod 5, dactylus as long as the propodus; uropod 3, outer ramus biarticulated with article 2 about 18% the length of the ramus. Based on the species described herein, the diagnosis of the genus is modified and a world key for all 14 known Halicoides species is provided. The present study is an effort in understanding and unrevealing the macrofauna from the Brazilian margin bringing new data on the family Pardaliscidae that was found in a wide bathymetric range of the Campos, Santos and Espírito Santo Basins.

The two riodinid taxa described by Rudolf Emil Mell were reviewed. Lectotypes have been designated for Sospita sobrina Mell, 1923 and Hipporion chauchowensis Mell, 1923. Abisara freda Bennett, 1957 syn. n. and A. freda daliensis Sugiyama, 1992 syn. n. are synonymized with A. sobrina (Mell, 1923) and Polycaena chauchowensis pallidior Forster, 1951 syn. n. is synonymized with P. chauchowensis (Mell, 1923). The adult and genitalia of the lectotypes and related specimens of the aforementioned taxa are illustrated.

A new species of Myxia is described from light collecting in Villa Blanca, Costa Rica. The new species possesses an unusual large areolet on the anterior portion of the vertex. Maximum Likelihood analyses based on the 18S rRNA gene, D9–D10 expansion region of the 28S gene, H3 gene and 5’ region of the COI gene support the monophyly of Myxia, with the new species nested deeply within the genus.

Coleophora elea Baldizzone & Huemer, sp. nov., is described based on specimens collected from the Peloponnese peninsula (Greece). This species is closely related to C. oriolella Zeller, 1849, but it differs in external appearance and in characters of the male and female genitalia. Additionally, the two species are genetically distinct as evidenced by a p-distance of approximately 4% between their DNA barcodes (cytochrome c-oxidase subunit 1). Adult specimens and the genitalia of both species are illustrated for comparative purposes.

The Indian Ocean coral reef mantis shrimp, Gonodactylellus demanii (Henderson, 1893), described from the Gulf of Mannar, southeastern India, was thought to range widely, from the northwestern Indian Ocean to the eastern Bay of Bengal, Burma. Reevaluation of G. demanii from throughout its purported range revealed that what was thought to be that species in the northwestern Indian Ocean represents a new species, formally named herein, Gonodactylellus celosinus sp. nov. Gonodactylellus demanii sensu stricto is now known only from the Bay of Bengal (southeastern India to Burma). The taxonomic issues within G. demanii have gone unnoticed until now because the original account was inadequate for recognition of the species and subsequent revisions did not revisit the type or topotypic material. Gonodactylellus demanii is figured alongside G. celosinus sp. nov. to facilitate their recognition.
Gonodactylellus demanii 与 G. celosinus sp.

Nearctic species of Incertella Sabrosky, 1980 are transferred to Microcercis Beschovski, 1978 due to the synonymy of the type species I. incerta (Becker, 1912) with M. albipalpis (Meigen, 1830). The ten species treated are M. albipalpis (Meigen) = M. incerta (Becker) syn. n., M. bispina (Malloch), M. dorsata (Loew), M. infesta (Becker), M. insularis (Malloch), and M. minor (Adams), [all are new combinations], and the four new species: M. laytoni sp. n., M. murphyi sp. n., M. johanni sp. n. and M. trifeminarum sp. n. A generic diagnosis is provided, as are species diagnoses and descriptions and a key to Nearctic Microcercis. Lectotypes are designated for M. infesta, and M. insularis. Incertella ovalis (Adams) is moved to Conioscinella Duda comb. n. Photographs illustrating the habitus of all species, male genitalia photos of most species, and scanning electron microscope (SEM) photos of specific features are provided. Material from Canada, the United States, and Mexico is recorded.
