In this study, we explored the experiences of adult siblings of brothers who have been on probation or parole and the impacts on the participants' health and health-related quality of life. We conducted semi-structured interviews and focused field observations of 8 adult siblings. The major themes were siblings being primary support providers , feelings of existing in a perpetual state of unknown , and perceived needs and resources . These themes reflected the types of support that participants provided; the associated strains and instability perpetuated by the criminal legal system; and the perceived resources needed to mitigate the negative impacts of participants' experiences.

Cancer family caregivers dwell in an evolving landscape of ambiguity and in-betweenness, as "betwixt and between," in a space of unknowing. This space of unknowing exists within a transformational threshold of liminality, between what was known prior to the cancer and what will be known and embodied in the future. Theoretically grounded in Unitary Caring Science, this study used narrative inquiry alongside photo elicitation to cocreate cancer caregiver narratives and identify themes of liminality. Four thematic threads of liminality were identified as woven within and across the cancer caregiver narratives; stories of paradox, time warp, life disruption, and waiting in silence.

This cross-sectional study examined the effects of parenting stress, resilience, and social support on the retention intentions of married nurses with preschool-aged children in South Korea. Data from 150 nurses were collected through an online survey. The findings indicate that age, household income, job satisfaction, the presence of caregiver cohabitants, and resilience significantly influence retention intentions, explaining 30.7% of the variance. The results underscore the urgent need for healthcare organizations to develop and implement customized support programs targeting midcareer married nurses with young children, emphasizing resilience building, job satisfaction, and financial support.

The extent of the application of the Individual and Family Self-Management Theory (IFSMT) in research has yet to be determined. The purpose of this analysis was to review the use of the IFSMT in published research and evaluate posited constructs and relationships. Dimensions and categories of the IFSMT and the interrelationships were generally supported in the 77 articles reviewed. A majority focused on self-management of chronic conditions in the adult population. More research on the strength, direction, and interaction of relationships is needed. Defining and exploring social constructs, including race, ethnicity, and gender, should be prioritized in future IFSMT research.

The purpose of this paper is to examine philosophical knowing and practical knowing in the Science of Unitary Human Beings for the purpose of documenting evidence of their interrelationship in existing practice tools and practice methodologies that are based on Rogers' philosophical assumptions. We contend that identification of philosophical knowing and practical knowing in the Science of Unitary Human Beings illustrates the nature of each and exposes the importance of their interrelationship for future knowledge development.

The purpose of this article is to describe a model of chronic disease self-management that incorporates the complexity of social and environmental interactions experienced by people who self-manage chronic conditions. This study combines quantitative data from a large national research cohort and qualitative interviews to test and refine a self-management model. The self-management within a syndemic model depicts the contextual, psychological, and social factors that predict self-management behaviors and clinical and long-term outcomes.

Intersectionality allows nurses to be attuned to the many forms of social marginality present in society that ultimately impact upon health and well-being. However, while intersectionality is often named and well-defined in terms of the theoretical implications, less direction is provided regarding how these principles are actualized in various methodological approaches. This article presents our experiences as a large team of researchers working with a variety of marginalized populations in living out intersectionality in nursing research. We explore a variety of different methods and analysis approaches and how intersectionality is integrated in an authentic and meaningful way.
