ENHANCING ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS' SPEAKING SKILLS THROUGH ROLEPLAY IMPLEMENTATION 通过角色扮演提高十一年级学生的演讲能力

This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Tangerang Regency to investigate the impact of roleplay on enhancing the speaking skills of 11th-grade students. The study encompassed a population of 72 students from classes 11 MIPA 1 and 11 MIPA 2. Employing a quantitative approach and a quasi-experimental method, data was collected through classroom observations and assessments. The results of this study were analysed using SPSS 22, employing the Wilcoxon model. The analysis demonstrated that the two-tailed Wilcoxon test produced a statistically significant result, with the "assym.sig" value exceeding the Wilcoxon test criteria. As a result, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. This indicates that the implementation of roleplay as a teaching method had a significant positive influence on students' communication and speaking skills. This research contributes valuable insights into the effectiveness of roleplay in enhancing speaking skills, offering practical implications for educators seeking to improve language proficiency among 11th-grade students.

STUDENTS’ EXPERIENCES OF USING WHATSAPP VOICE NOTE IN ENGLISH SPEAKING LEARNING 学生在英语口语学习中使用 Whatsapp 语音笔记的体验

The government has implemented hybrid or blended learning, which combines face-to-face and online learning. IAIN Langsa has adopted this hybrid learning approach by utilizing various media tools in the learning process. One widely used media tool in hybrid learning is the WhatsApp Voice Note application. In this perspective, online learning media becomes an important aspect to be evaluated, with WhatsApp Voice Note as the focal media for online learning. This study aims to explore students' experiences in using WhatsApp Voice Note for learning speaking. The subjects of this study consisted of 12 English education students. A qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach is employed to achieve the research objectives. Three data collection instruments are utilized: questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The questionnaire employs an 8-item Likert scale, while the semi-structured interviews comprise 14 questions. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that almost all eighth-semester English education students at IAIN Langsa have provided positive feedback regarding WhatsApp Voice Note as an online learning medium that helps improve their English speaking skills and supports their learning process both on and off-campus.

AN ANALYSIS OF PRAGMATIC DEIXIS IN SOCIAL MEDIA 社交媒体中的语用修饰分析

The purpose of this research is to identify deixis types and meanings used in social media (Tik Tok and YouTube Channel). This study was applied descriptive qualitative. The findings indicate that the types of deixis found in social media (Tik Tok and YouTube channel). The researcher found 4 deixis, Personal deixis. In the first person there is I only, second person there are You, and We. In third person there is It only. Then for Spatial Deixis, there are there, that, this, and here. Temporal deixis, there are January, then, a minute, now, and early. Discourse deixis there is But only. The results of this study show that personal deixis is used 26 times, spatial deixis is used 6 times and temporal deixis is used 5 times, and the last is discourse deixis is used 2 times.

THE EFFECT OF DIGITALIZATION ON LANGUAGE AND CULTURE IN MANAGEMENT PRACTICE MODERN EDUCATION 数字化对现代教育管理实践中的语言和文化的影响

This research is motivated by the important role of digitalization in language and culture in modern management practices. This research aims to determine and analyze the influence of digitalization on language and culture in modern educational management practices. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research is the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model which consists of data reduction, data presentation or data display and drawing conclusions. The results of this research explain that 1) Digitalization is the process of changing various information or news from analog format to digital format so that it is easier to produce, manage, store or distribute to the general public, 2) Language is not only a communication tool, but also a cultural expression that reflects worldview, values, and identity of a group or society, 3) Modern educational management practices take steps to integrate technology, personalization, collaboration, and skill development in learning and 4) The influence of digitalization on language and culture in educational management practices modern is combining the use of technology with efforts to preserve and respect local language and culture, as well as the development of holistic communication skills in an increasingly connected era.

Online newspaper is one of the media in the present time that can convey modified information according to the ideology of the institution. It can create a public opinion amongst its readers depending on how the media represents the state of the world. In addition, Stuart Hall (1997) clarifies that no accurate representation exists because there are many different ways to represent them depending on the person. The news discourse within a media can represent a problem within a nation from the perspective of ordinary people in which it may portray more about its effect on their daily life, but can also represent the problem from a general point of view in which it may only portray the general scale of effects on the people. To understand the meaning or ideology behind the text, one would need to conduct a discourse analysis. It is noted that Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) is one of the more appropriate perspectives that can be used in analysing discourse in a news item. According to van Dijk (2008), CDA is a discourse investigation that investigates social power, dominance, and imbalance. There are many frameworks within the category of CDA. However, this essay only uses the framework proposed by Theo van Leeuwen, which is social actor analysis..   Keywords: newspaper, CDA

: This study aimed to fostering student vocabulary by utilizing Mr. D YouTube channel. This research The study was carried out in the SMA yatama academic year 2021/2022 to increase students' vocabulary skills through the use of the YouTube channel. This study's participants included 31 students. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). This study was conducted following Kurt Lewin model with the following procedures of the action research: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The study was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of three meetings. The data were gathered in this study through observation and test. The results of this research utilizing YouTube indicating that the students' vocabulary skills had improved. At the end of the cycle, getting high grades gradually. Criteria worth the minimum sharpness (KKM) value is 75. (seventy-five). The average student score on the Beginning exam is In the first cycle, the average student score is 70. In cycle two, the average student is 82. Furthermore, there is a reaction. Mr. D's YouTube channel has received great feedback from English students and teachers. This research The study was carried out in the SMA yatama academic year 2021/2022 to increase students' vocabulary skills through the use of the YouTube channel. This study's participants included 31 students. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). This study was conducted following Kurt Lewin model with the following procedures of the action research: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The study was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of three meetings. The data were gathered in this study through observation and test. The results of this research utilizing YouTube indicating that the students' vocabulary skills had improved. At the end of the cycle, getting high grades gradually. Criteria worth the minimum sharpness (KKM) value is 75. (seventy-five). The average student score on the Beginning exam is In the first cycle, the average student score is 70. In cycle two, the average student is 82. Furthermore, there is a reaction. Mr. D's YouTube channel has received great feedback from English students and teachers.
