Phylloporia is a widespread genus of Hymenochaetales (Basidiomycota) with polyporoid basidiomata found mainly in the tropics. Species of Phylloporia are predominantly parasitic of woody plant hosts, while some species grow as saprotrophs. Data on the genus is still scarce for tropical Africa, where we expect a high diversity given the high plant diversity in this area. Two specimens of this genus were collected in Benin (West Africa) and analysed morphologically and phylogenetically based on a multigene dataset (ITS, LSU, EF1α). Strong support for a species new to science was found, described here as Phylloporia mutabilis. It differs from other Phylloporia species by stipitate, coriaceous basidiomata, earth coloured to dark brown when fresh and changing upon drying from golden to yellowish brown, the margin being large in young specimens, becoming narrower with maturity. Basidiomata of Phylloporia mutabilis grow on the soil under angiosperm trees in a dense dry forest, so its lifestyle (saprotrophic, parasitic or mycorrhizal) is not evident, and future ecological studies will be required to elucidate this aspect. Olou BA, Krah F-S, Piepenbring M, Yorou NS (2023).Phylloporia mutabilis sp.Doi: 10.3114/fuse.2023.12.06.

TAT rhodopsin extracted from the marine bacterium SAR11 HIMB114 has a characteristic Thr-Ala-Thr motif and contains both protonated and deprotonated states of Schiff base at physiological pH conditions due to the low pKa. Here, using solid-state NMR spectroscopy, we investigated the 13C and 15N NMR signals of retinal in only the protonated state of TAT in the 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine/1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho (1'-rac-glycerol) (POPE/POPG) membrane at weakly acidic conditions. In the 13C NMR spectrum of 13C retinal-labeled TAT rhodopsin, the isolated 14-13C signals of 13-trans/15-anti and 13-cis/15-syn isomers were observed at a ratio of 7:3. 15N retinal protonated Schiff base (RPSB) had a significantly higher magnetic field resonance at 160 ppm. In 15N RPSB/λmax analysis, the plot of TAT largely deviated from the trend based on the retinylidene-halide model compounds and microbial rhodopsins. Our findings indicate that the RPSB of TAT forms a very weak interaction with the counterion.

: In today's fast-paced world, we have had to learn that uncertainty is constant, and that we have to face it in unexpected situations. It is not only our income that is affected by uncertainty in the future, but also our jobs and our livelihoods, which, in many cases, depend on other factors. Global conflict situations only add to this sense of insecurity. In uncertain situations, the fundamental goal of individuals and organisations is to seek security through the means at their disposal. This is no different for our finances. Savings are a key element in the lives of individuals, households and businesses in managing such uncertainties. Savings have always been crucial at the level of the national economy as well, as they have been the source of investment according to classical economics. Nations with a high savings rate have always been able to invest more and have thus enjoyed greater economic growth. Savings, by their role as a store of wealth, help to deal with sudden and unexpected situations. Today, however, savings no longer have only a security function, but must be seen as a collateral for future consumption, a source of future consumption needs, a guarantee of maintaining the standard of living to which we have become accustomed. The current paper sets out to observe and examine the rationale behind savings accumulation from the point of view of households in the light of the pandemic. It is also an objective to identify the impact of the pandemic on the security function of savings formation, providing a picture of the motivations of different generations to save and make savings for the future, based on the results of a questionnaire survey conducted in Hungary.
