Five species of the Lathrobium nomurai group are (re)described: Lathrobium nomurai Nakane, 1955, L. fujimotoi Y. Watanabe, 2001, L. hikosanense Y. Watanabe, 1998, L. yufuense sp. nov., and L. denchu sp. nov. All species inhabit the upper hypogean zone or are found under stones in the northern Kyushu, Japan. Their distribution patterns are discussed and compared to other members of this species group.

A new, putatively semisubterranean, Rhithrodytes diving beetle from southwestern Sardinia (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae) 一种来自撒丁岛西南部的新的、被认为是半亚类的Rhithrodytes潜水甲虫(鞘翅目:双翅目)

The diving beetle genus Rhithrodytes Bameul, 1989 is endemic to areas surrounding the Western Mediterranean Basin, and currently includes six lotic species; three each in Europe and North Africa. Here we describe a striking new species, Rhithrodytes pantaleonii sp. nov., discovered during recent fieldwork in southwestern Sardinia. The new species differs markedly from the only previously known Rhithrodytes from the Tyrrhenian Islands, R. sexguttatus (Aubé, 1838). The pale, flattened appearance of R. pantaleonii sp. nov., together with its small eyes and scarcity during collecting, all point to it being semisubterranean. A combination of mitochondrial and nuclear DNA sequences, obtained non-destructively from the holotype, allow us to reconstruct the evolutionary history and historical biogeography of this taxon and take the opportunity to publish the mitogenome of the new species. Rhithrodytes pantaleonii sp. nov. is shown to be sister to R. sexguttatus, these taxa apparently having diverged during the Miocene, when the Sulcis-Iglesiente region of southwestern Sardinia was separated from the rest of Corsico-Sardinia by the Sardinian Seaway. Our discovery adds to our understanding of the biogeography of the Tyrrhenian Islands, and further highlights the importance of the Sulcis-Iglesiente region as an area of endemism in its own right.

Despite much recent progress, knowledge of Afrotropical Hydraenidae remains limited, particularly in areas experiencing tropical climates, where large numbers of species likely remain undetected. Here, three new species are described from material recently col­lected from two Malawian mountains: Coelometopon dedzae sp. nov. from Mount Dedza and Hydraena (Hydraenopsis) mulanje sp. nov. and Ochthebius (Asiobates) erinaceus sp. nov. from Mount Mulanje. All specimens were sampled by sifting, and Hydraena mulanje sp. nov. and Ochthebius erinaceus sp. nov. appear to be terrestrial, in forest litter. Specimens of Decarthrocerus Orchymont, 1948 from Mount Dedza are apparently referable to D. jeanneli Orchymont, 1948, described from Mount Elgon, Kenya, as is a specimen examined from Mount Hanang in Tanzania. These represent new country records for this species, which appears to be widespread in East African Mountains.

Seven new species of the genus Platynectes Régimbart, 1879 from the Solomon Islands are described: Platynectes barana sp. nov., P. mbaole sp. nov., P. popomanaseu sp. nov. (all from Guadalcanal), P. lunga sp. nov. (Guadalcanal and Savo), P. malaita sp. nov. (Malaita), P. makira sp. nov. (Makira) and P. owaraha sp. nov. (Makira and Owaraha). Platynectes insularis J. Balfour-Browne, 1939, described from Vanuatu and the Solomons, currently considered a junior subjective synonym of P. semperi Régimbart, 1899, is reinstituted as a valid species based on its morphology and a molecular analysis by Toussaint et al. (2017). The paratypes of P. insularis from the Solomons are shown to belong to a new species – P. owaraha sp. nov., and, thus, the distribution of P. insularis is restricted to Vanuatu. Habitus and male genitalia are illustrated for all seven new species and P. insularis. A checklist of Dytiscidae so far recorded from the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu is appended.

Review of the genus Cybister in China, with description of a new species from Guangdong (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae) 中国蟹蟹属研究进展及广东一新种记述(鞘翅目:蟹蟹科)

The genus Cybister Curtis, 1827 is reviewed with respect to the fauna of China. A new species, Cybister (Melanectes) danxiaensis sp. nov. is described and illustrated. Altogether, 16 Cybister species are recorded from China, although the status of two of them remains in question. All species are diagnosed, with their habitus and male genitalia illustrated. Additional faunistic data from China are provided for the following species: C. guerini Aubé, 1838 from Hainan; C. lewisianus Sharp, 1873 from Guangdong and Hainan; C. limbatus (Fabricius, 1775) from Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan; C. rugosus (W. S. Macleay, 1825) from Chongqing, Guangdong, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Yunnan, Zhejiang; C. tripunctatus lateralis (Fabricius, 1798) from Chongqing, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Shanghai; C. brevis Aubé, 1838 from Guizhou, Hunan, Zhejiang; and C. sugillatus Erichson, 1834 from Guangxi and Yunnan. An updated identification key and distribution maps for all species are provided. Cybister lateralimarginalis torquatus (Fischer von Waldheim, 1829) is recorded for the first time from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Revision of the plant bug genus Diognetus, with descriptions of thirteen new species from the Oriental and Eastern Palearctic Regions (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae) 东、东古北区植物蝽属修订及13新种记述(半翅目:异翅目:蝽科)

The mirine plant bug genus Diognetus Distant, 1904 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae: Mirinae: Mirini) is revised. Eighteen Oriental and Eastern Palearctic species are properly assigned to the genus. Diplotrichiella Poppius, 1915, syn. nov. and Yamatolygus Yasunaga, 1994, syn. nov. are synonymized with Diognetus; accordingly the following two new combinations, one substitute name and one new synonymy are proposed: Diognetus flavigenis (Horváth, 1905) comb. nov. and D. insulanus (Yasunaga, 1994) comb. nov. (transferred from Yamatolygus); D. yamato Yasunaga nom. nov. for Yamatolygus pilosus Yasunaga, 1994, junior secondary homonym of D. pilosus (Poppius, 1914); and Diplotrichiella rufescens Poppius, 1914, syn. nov. = Diognetus intonsus Distant, 1904 (valid name). Thirteen species are described as new: Diognetus bagmaticus sp. nov. (from Nepal), D. cheimon sp. nov. (Japan), D. dhampus sp. nov. (Nepal), D. duwalorum sp. nov. (Nepal), D. giganteus sp. nov. (Malaysia), D. gotohi sp. nov. (Malaysia), D. laureus sp. nov. (Japan), D. magnificus sp. nov. (Indonesia), D. minusculus sp. nov. (Malaysia), D. puspae sp. nov. (Nepal), D. schuhorum sp. nov. (Indonesia), D. styrax sp. nov. (Taiwan) and D. vernus sp. nov. (Japan). The generic characters are reassessed and discussed, on the basis of detailed observation of external structures using scanning electron microscopy as well as male and female genitalia.

Eighteen Oriental and Eastern Palearctic species are properly assigned to the genus. Diplotrichiella Poppius, 1915, syn. nov. and Yamatolygus Yasunaga, 1994, syn. nov. are synonymized with Diognetus; accordingly the following two new combinations, one substitute name and one new synonymy are proposed: Diognetus flavigenis (Horváth, 1905) comb. nov. and D. insulanus (Yasunaga, 1994) comb. nov. (transferred from Yamatolygus); D. yamato Yasunaga nom. nov. for Yamatolygus pilosus Yasunaga, 1994, junior secondary homonym of D. pilosus (Poppius, 1914); and Diplotrichiella rufescens Poppius, 1914, syn. nov. = Diognetus intonsus Distant, 1904 (valid name). Thirteen species are described as new: Diognetus bagmaticus sp. nov. (from Nepal), D. cheimon sp. nov. (Japan), D. dhampus sp. nov. (Nepal), D. duwalorum sp. nov. (Nepal), D. giganteus sp. nov. The present study revises the taxonomy of the lace bug genus Perissonemia Drake & Poor, 1937 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Tingidae: Tinginae) from Japan. Three species are recognized and (re)described: P. occasa Drake, 1942 from Honshu, P. okinawensis sp. nov. from the central part of the Ryukyu Islands, and P. yaeyamensis sp. nov. from the southern part of the Ryukyu Islands. Previous records of P. occasa from the central and southern parts of the Ryukyu Islands are confirmed as misidentifications of P. okinawensis sp. nov. and P. yaeyamensis sp. nov., respectively. The host plant relationships are discussed for P. occasa and P. yaeyamensis sp. nov. Photographs of living individuals of P. occasa and P. yaeyamensis sp. nov. are presented. A key is provided to facilitate the identification of the three species of Perissonemia distributed in Japan.

Phylogeny, diversity and biogeography of flightless amphi-Pacific lymantine weevils (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Molytinae) 无飞行的两太平洋野象甲的系统发育、多样性和生物地理学(鞘翅目:野象科:野象科)

We use DNA sequence data to generate the first phylogenetic hypothesis for the weevil tribe Lymantini. These are leaf litter inhabiting beetles generally regarded as restricted to the New World and taxonomically arranged in two subtribes, 11 genera and some 150 named species. An additional genus of questionable affinities to the tribe, Devernodes Grebennikov, 2018, has five described species in Southeastern Asia. All these beetles are flightless and some have eyes reduced in size or absent, traits normally associated with limited dispersal capacity. We performed a phylogenetic analysis of 153 terminals (50 of them belong to Lymantini representing Devernodes and all but three named genera) based on 4,174 bp alignment of one mitochondrial (cox1) and two nuclear fragments (ITS2 and 28S). We find that both Lymantini subtribes Lymantina and Caecossonina are monophyletic, the latter sister to the amphi-Atlantic tribe Anchonini. The Asian genus Devernodes is deeply nested among American Lymantina. The clade of Anchonini plus Lymantini is consistently recovered outside of the CCCMS clade of “higher” weevils (Curculioninae, Conoderinae, Cossoninae, Molytinae and Scolytinae). We hypothesize that the polished head capsule of adult beetles is an apomorphy of Anchonini and Lymantini, the 8-segmented antennal funicle is an apomorphy of Anchonini plus Caecossonina. We attribute the origin of the currently observed amphi-Pacific distribution of Lymantina to normal ecological dispersal facilitated by the warmer periods of the Cenozoic such as the Eocene, and by presently submerged Arctic land bridges. Using parsimony we hypothesize a North American origin for the Anchonini plus Lymantini crown group, as well as that of Lymantina. We argue that Bronchotibia adunatus Poinar & Legalov, 2021, a Dominican amber adult weevil fossil, is not a member of Lymantini and re-classify it as Curculionidae incertae sedis. We present an image gallery of 28 Lymantini specimens to document the morphological diversity of the tribe. We hypothesize the existence of unnamed American genera of Lymantina and make public the DNA-barcode dataset of 89 Lymantini specimens.

Type specimens from the collection of Hymenoptera deposited in the Department of Entomology, National Museum, Prague are currently being catalogued. In this part of the catalogue dealing with the family Braconidae, we present precise information about 27 taxa belonging to the subfamilies Brachistinae (1 species), Cheloninae (1 species), Doryctinae (1 species), Euphorinae (2 species), Gnamptodontinae (1 species), Lysiterminae (1 species), Microgastrinae (2 species), Opiinae (15 species) and Orgilinae (3 species), including holotypes of 20 species. Current status, distribution, and photos are given for each taxon. Additionally, one missing type and one historically important specimen are mentioned in the catalogue with detailed information about them.

This contribution is the first part of a series designed to summarize the present knowledge on the fauna of true bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) of the Socotra Archipelago. A review of aquatic, semiaquatic and shore bugs of the infraorders Nepomorpha, Gerromorpha, and Leptopodomorpha of Socotra is provided. Nine families and 19 species are recorded from the Socotra Island (including two marine off-shore species). The following new species and new records are given: Micronecta eupompe Hutchinson, 1930 (Micronectidae), Sigara hoggarica Poisson, 1929 (Corixidae), Hebrus kanyukovae sp. nov., Hebrus sp. (Hebridae), Microvelia gracillima Reuter, 1882, M. macani Brown, 1953 (Veliidae), Limnogonus cereiventris (Signoret, 1862) (Gerridae), Micracanthia ornatula (Reuter, 1881), and Saldula niveolimbata (Reuter, 1900) (Saldidae).
