Patient safety, which is both an overarching principle and a key factor in determining the quality of healthcare, continues to be a priority in healthcare systems on a global scale. A cross-sectional study in accredited Indian hospitals aimed to evaluate the HSOPSC V-2 (Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture). 1,603 healthcare professionals participated, assessing psychometric features using confirmatory factor analysis in SMART PLS 4. The average composite positive response rate was 64.8%. High positive responses (79%) were seen in ‘teamwork’, ‘communication about error’, and ‘hospital management support for patient safety’. However, ‘staffing and work pace’ (30%), ‘response to error’ (50%), ‘communication openness’, and ‘reporting patient safety events’ (both 59%) had lower positive responses, indicating room for improvement. Findings suggest I-HOSPSC 2.0’s content validity, reliability, and construct validity in measuring patient safety culture in Indian hospitals. It can aid administrators in assessing safety culture and improving patient safety and treatment efficacy. Notably, this is the inaugural HSOPSC V-2 validation research in the Indian healthcare context. Future research should explore the tool’s psychometric properties based on care setting levels due to substantial differences between public and private healthcare setups in India.

The child mortality rate is an important indicator presenting crucial information about the health status of a country. In the current study, we examined whether health care utilisation reduced the under-5 mortality rates, an important health status indicator, in Turkey. We employed an autoregressive distributed lag bounds test. We used doctor consultation and health expenditure as the independent variables. We found out that both doctor consultation and health expenditure had negative impacts on the under-5 mortality rates in the short run; however, the effects of both variables were not statistically significant ( p > .05). Also, we showed that while the effect of doctor consultation on the under-5 mortality rates was negatively and statistically significant ( p < .05) in the long run, the effect of health expenditure was not statistically significant ( p > .05). Turkey should allocate more to health care services specifically targeting infant and child health to reduce its infant and child mortality rates.

The study is an attempt to find out vital areas related to doctors’ attitude towards generic medicines limiting its mass use. Attitude of medical practitioners, one factor amongst several, was chosen to evaluate doctors’ behaviour towards generic medicines. Most of the countries in the world, rich or poor, are taking more interest in generic medicines due to rising healthcare costs. In India, out of pocket expenses towards healthcare costs are one of the highest in the world besides affordability issue due to its demographics. Generic medicines offer as an alternative to expensive medicines. Government is promoting use of generic medicines; doctors are being advised to write prescription in generic names; however, there are several challenges in its mass use. The study is of national importance as it addresses the issue of low generic prescriptions despite unaffordable access to expensive branded medicines. A questionnaire constructed descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted in North India in 2020 amongst 228 medical practitioners at primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare centres. Spearman’s rank correlation computed to assess the association between attitude and prescription of generic medicines was found to be positively correlated between the two variables indicating a significant moderate association between them. Attitude of doctors towards generic medicines has been found to be playing a significant role in influencing doctors in prescribing generic medicines which explains limited use of generic drugs.

The adolescent period is a time of many upswings and downsides which requires constant support and guidance from parents, guardians and society. Moreover, adolescent girls face more psychosocial problems in contrast to boys, especially in India due to its different social and cultural environment. The psychosocial problems can have an adverse effect on the health of adolescent girls. Thus, social investment in adolescents is important not only for their well-being but also for society as a whole. The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) is one of the social investment programmes in India which seeks to address such problems in girls. The present research study has been carried out to explore the psychosocial issues of adolescent girl beneficiaries’ of the ICDS programme in Central Kashmir. Furthermore, the role of demographic and socio-economic factors in relation to psychosocial issues has also been examined. The research was both explorative and descriptive, and the data were analysed with quantitative techniques involving ANOVA in SPSS. The results obtained provide interesting insights into the research problems which can be beneficial for many stakeholders. The study results revealed that most of the beneficiaries had psychosocial issues such as somatic complications, adjustment problems, sleep problems, attention problems and sleep problems. However, these problems varied in relation to different demographic variables such as age, gender, education, district, economic status, etc. The research also provides interesting and valuable suggestions to different stakeholders regarding their role in solving the problems of adolescent girls.

International comparison of health systems performance provides evidence to countries, policymakers and decision-makers. This study was conducted in order to rank and compare the health systems performance levels of the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) countries according to the determined health performance indicators. In the study, the data of the countries between the years of 2000–2017 were used and evaluated. The study consists of 36 member countries of the OECD. The data was analysed with the MOORA (Multi-Objective Optimization on the basis of Ratio Analysis) method, which is one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods, allowing the comparison of the performance of health systems across countries is compared. As a result of the health system performance evaluations of OECD countries. As a result of the health system performance evaluations of OECD countries, it has been concluded that countries such as Switzerland, Germany and Sweden have a high level of health systems performance, and Mexico, Colombia and Turkey have a lower performance compared to other countries. It is expected that countries with lower health system performance levels due to health system structures, demographic characteristics, education levels and technological development levels can still develop by selecting alternative countries suitable for their purpose and adopting the policies and strategies of such countries to their own systems.

This study examines whether belief in just world manages to reduce the negative impacts of conspiracy theories belief on social distancing intention and vaccination attitude. We also examine the mediating effect of perceived COVID-19 threat in these relations. Using a sample of 262 adult participants from Indonesia, results suggest that when people have high belief in just world, they have a more positive attitude towards vaccination and willingness to practice social distancing even though when they believe in conspiracy theories and feel less threatened by COVID-19. Theoretical and practical contributions are discussed in this article.

Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is the Philippine version of the conditional cash transfer (CCT) program that measures human development through the provision of conditional cash grants to the poorest of the poor. This research determines the health expenditure and utilisation of the poor families in a low-income community under the CCT program. A cross-sectional research design was adopted using mixed methods of data collection from 177 households between May and June 2017. Results reveal that most families under CCT devote the largest portion of household health expenditure for inpatient health seeking. About 40% of the total expenditure is covered by the National Health Insurance Program and the cost for hospitalisation mostly comes from the out-of-pocket source. Moreover, the common problems encountered during health utilisation and spending are poor customer service of healthcare facilities and uncompensated hospital bill by health insurance.

The healthcare industry is always susceptible to diverse changes and technology advancements. This mandates that the sector updates its skill set that can help in complying with compliance and regulatory requirements. COVID-19 has added to the complexity by bringing in changes in the working environment, healthcare professionals’ perceptions and patients’ expectations. It has clearly shown that digital technologies are rapidly revolutionising healthcare and also having an impact on human resources. Talent management in the changing scenario is a must for all organisations looking towards resilience, sustainability and gaining a competitive advantage over others. The purpose of the current study is to explore the factors that have influenced healthcare talent management during the pandemic, identify the challenges and put forth a strategy for post-pandemic talent management. A literature-based search for identifying articles related to talent management in healthcare during the pandemic, the challenges and lessons learned has been carried out. Based on the findings, it is suggested that while traditional ways of human resource planning are still applicable, it is imperative that digital tools be utilised for all activities especially talent management. Digital tools such as electronic medical records, telemedicine, computerised physician order entry systems are becoming an inbuilt culture in healthcare. So, while selecting, developing and retaining talent, the existence of digital skill set, capability to work with the tools or learn and adopt should be considered as a mandatory requirement.

This paper attempts to measure and report the extent and magnitude of tax evasion in the medical sector and to be compared with other selected human-to-human (Η2Η) life services in the Greek economy. Specific household expenditures for human (Η2Η) services for the period 2011–2017 were analysed, using data from the annual ‘Household Budget Survey (HBS)’ of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) and were compared with the financial administrative data from the ‘Statistical Business Register (SBR)’, which is updated on an annual basis with data provided by the tax authority, depending on the case-specific characteristics of each sector under study that have been taken into account in the calculations. The research showed that the participation of doctors in the phenomenon of tax evasion as a whole has been declining in recent years while other human economic activities are responsible many times over for the perpetuation and exacerbation of the phenomenon. The annual tax evasion on average for the period 2011–2017, for the medical sector, is estimated to amount to €565.6 million (0.31% of the Greek GDP – mean value of the same period), while for the ‘accommodation services (hotels)’ sector, it is estimated to €3.3 billion (1.84% of GDP), to €6.8 billion for the catering sector (3.76% of GDP), to €2.1 billion for the education sector (1.18% of GDP), to €87.3 million for the hairdressing/other beauty treatment services of the personal service sector and finally to €50.3 million for the funeral and related services sector.

The purpose of this study is to know how students in school and parents perceive social networks. A random sample of 50 adolescents aged 17–21 and 50 parents aged 45–48 irrespective of gender were selected randomly from students in the eleventh and twelfth grades with their parents in Ambala, Haryana, India. A self-developed questionnaire consisting of 60 items about social networking was used, of which half of the items were in favour and half not in favour of social networking. The scoring of the questionnaire was done using scores 1 to 7 correlating to the options from ‘strongly disagree’ to ‘strongly agree’. Descriptive analysis and part–whole correlations and t-ratios were used to analyse the obtained data. The difference in opinion between parents and adolescents about social networking is more evident when one considers the generation gap, income group and rural and urban groups. The attitude of parents, teachers and adolescents towards social networking sites is neutral. Social networking sites are both a boon and a curse, depending upon the level of awareness pertaining to the different aspects such as privacy, accessibility and the purpose for which they are being used..
