This paper presents a methodology that combines radar polarization selection and recognition techniques for navigating objects in atmospheric formations, with a special focus on unmanned surface vehicles (ASVs). The proposed technique utilizes the concept of an energy dissipation matrix to represent these objects as characteristic “shiny dots”. By strategically changing the polarization of the emitted and received electromagnetic waves, the resulting echo energy dissipation matrix is determined. This approach allows the formation of an intensity-based repository of atmospheric formations, which gives SRPC a complete set of tools to account for atmospheric conditions in radar identification of remote objects, including ASVs. The practical application of this technique extends to the improvement of a distinct class of shipborne radar systems optimized for ASVs and their specific navigation requirements. Ultimately, this technology bridges the gap between advanced radar technology and the emerging field of unmanned ground vehicles, providing safer and more proficient navigation in challenging weather conditions.

Today, traffic accidents are still a difficult and urgent problem for many countries around the world. Traffic accidents on highways are often more serious than accidents on urban roads. Therefore, disseminating emergency information and creating immediate connections with road users is key to rescuing passengers and reducing congestion. Thus, this study applies data fusion and data mining techniques to analyze travel time and valuable information about traffic accidents based on the real-time data collected from On-Board Unit installed in vehicles. The results show that this important information is the vital database to analyze traffic conditions and safety factors, thereby developing a smart traffic information platform. This result enables traffic managers to provide real-time traffic information or forecasts of congestion and traffic accidents to road users. This helps limit congestion and serious accidents on the Highway.

Scraper chains are the main transport cables of scraper conveyors. Problems related to the processes of destruction of link chains used in these conveyors are described. Design of scraper chains and their division into different types for use in scraper conveyors are presented. The most common damages to chains used in scraper conveyors are presented and the reasons of their wear are discussed.

This article discusses the possibilities of reducing noise pollution in the vicinity of a selected airport, with an emphasis on practical measures. The proposed procedures, which are routinely employed at commercial airports, would be ineffective or financially unsustainable under the circumstances of the military airports. The objective at military airports is not to maximise capacity, as at civil airports, where the desire to increase capacity is primarily related to profit. The primary objective for military airports is to perform defined tasks, which may include pilot training, search and rescue exercises and combat training. The main measures proposed to reduce noise pollution in the vicinity of the villages are changes in departure and arrival routes, the splitting of night operations into two parts and the introduction of a new article in the AIP and Airport Regulations prohibiting air operations over and in close proximity to the villages nearby. Finally, it is stressed that a significant reduction in noise will only be possible with the support of changes in legislation or above-standard financial investment by the airport operator.

Innovative technologies that use artificial intelligence in transport solutions recently emerging around the world include, among others issues of autonomous vehicle driving. The use of autonomous vehicle technology affects the issues of civil liability (liability and insurance), road safety, natural environment (energy efficiency, renewable energy sources), data (access, exchange, protection, privacy), IT infrastructure (effective and reliable communication), employment (creation and loss of jobs, training of truck drivers in the use of automated vehicles). The development of new technologies related to artificial intelligence, including autonomous vehicles, generates inevitable changes in law, economy and society. It is inevitable due to the fact that autonomy is undoubtedly a means to achieve the goal of improving the efficiency sought in every area of life. The article presents arguments confirming the thesis that the basic factor inhibiting the implementation of autonomous vehicle technology is the problem of artificial intelligence, including its definition and legal regulation.

With the widespread use of the Internet in everyday life, new businesses have emerged, causing significant changes in the market, while some traditional businesses were marginalized. One of the emerging businesses is taxi-hailing, which has gained popularity among the public. This study examines ten attributes of taxi-hailing and asks individuals about their preferences for these attributes through a questionnaire. Unlike the traditional approach of dealing with discrete choice models, which focuses on choosing the best (most important) alternative only, the role of the worst (least important) alternative is also considered in this type of modelling. The present study utilizes case 1 (out of the three available cases) of this scaling method, called “best-worst”, which focuses on attributes. Each questionnaire includes 12 questions about taxi-hailing attributes, where respondents have to state their preference in selecting the best and the worst ones. The results indicate that security and reassurance are the most crucial attributes when deciding this transportation mode, followed by accessibility. Compliance with health issues and social distancing ranked as the least significant attribute.

The article presents the problem of the cargo transport with the example of a selected mode of transport in Poland. The volume of goods transported by air transport in 2010-2021 was analysed. Cargo transport in air transport is very popular. From year to year, there is an increase in the volume of transported goods. The coronavirus pandemic, and the related economic crisis did not significantly affect cargo transport, as was the case with passenger transport, the number of which decreased significantly during the pandemic.

The authors have developed algorithms and a simulation model of the production process in the selected enterprise, and proposed variants of emergency conduct. An aggregated simulation model as well as simulation results will allow for the implementation of appropriate procedures for dealing with emergencies. Through employing these measures, audits conducted in the company will reveal how the company is prepared for various failures and what their impact is on the efficiency indicators of the process.

The article describes the problem of excessive traffic concentration at signalized pedestrian crossings. The main drawback of such crossings is the inappropriate duration of green signals for vehicles. Too long green times for vehicular traffic significantly increase time lost by pedestrians, while too short ones cause short-term congestion, resulting in long queues of vehicles and a deteriorated level of service. The negative effects of both of these situations also include dangerous behavior of road users, such as red light running or crossing. Recent (June 2021) changes in the road traffic law in Poland have privileged unprotected road users at pedestrian crossings. New models and technical and design standards proposed in this country (March 2021) recommend the installation of pedestrian priority crossings at particularly dangerous spots and in urban areas with a high proportion of pedestrian traffic. All this is done mainly for traffic-calming purposes. However, previously these measures were not a common practice in Poland. Therefore, the objective of this article was to develop a simple method of green signal timing, ensuring, firstly, priority to pedestrian traffic at such places, and, secondly, sustained capacity of vehicular traffic lanes. The developed models are practical, universal and easy to adapt in other countries. They ensure a very good or good quality of vehicle traffic service, with average lost time not exceeding 25 s in a vast majority of analyzed traffic level cases. The article also describes a traffic control algorithm dependent on traffic detection.

Reinforcement of plates with rod systems is widely used in engineering, especially in aircraft construction. For example, An-178 aircraft. Removable panels on the lower surface of the wing half, located between the rear spar and the flaps. The method of calculating stresses and deformations in composite plates reinforced with rods is developed in the work. It is assumed that the rod is elastic, attached with rivets. Rivets were considered as rigid inclusions to which unknown forces were applied. These forces were determined from the condition of compatibility of plate and rod deformations. The singular integral equations' method was used to determine stresses and strains in the plate. Integral equations were solved numerically and reduced to a system of algebraic equations. To obtain the forces and moments acting on the rivets, the equations of equilibrium of the rivets and the conditions that ensure the same displacements between the rivets in the plate and in the rods are added to these equations. Examples of calculating stresses near circular and elliptical rivets, magnitudes of forces acting on rivets depending on the rigidity of the rods are given. The reduction of the stress concentration near the elliptical hole, which is placed between two rods, was studied.
