The article joins the debate on food waste, to promote a reflection on current policies’ ef-fectiveness and on possible future actions. Specifically, the analysis focusses on the actions promoted by Milan local administration, particularly active on these issues, and on their impact in the perceptions and behaviours of relevant groups of citizens. The data confirm the tendency to underestimate the impact of food waste and highlight the important role that institutions can play in correcting the perception of the potential of food waste reduction practices.

The article aims at articulating insights from Italian Theory and World-Ecology. Its goal is to show that, although such perspectives relate to the issue of (ecological) crisis in very differ-ent terms, they can effectively integrate each other if transposed on another theoretical level - that of a labour-based genealogy of the question concerning the environment. From such con-vergence a new interpretation of the ecological crisis of contemporary capitalism can emerge.

The paper proposes a critical reading of the portrayal of environmental issues within the international development narrative. The author argues that in the practices of cooperation in-spired by the concept of "sustainable development" it is possible to see the emergence of a ne-oliberal government rationality, which, by reorganizing nature and restructuring the field of action of individuals, aims to provide concrete responses to specific needs of capital accumula-tion

From the experience of a Committee for the defence of the territory, in southern Italy, the author interprets ecological conflicts from an ecological-world perspective and environmental justice view. Looking at the peripheries as the current frontiers of a cheap nature reserve, the popular struggles in opposition to the dynamics of capitalist dispossession, are active in de-fence of the conservation of nature and its territorial heritage.

The aim of this article is to highlight how the link between the accumulation by appropria-tion and the geographical changes determined by investments or disinvestments of capital, na-med processes of spatialization of capital, has been central in the movement of capitalism. This link has continuously redefined the space of Earth planet, transforming it in a homogeneous reality despite of its constitutive heterogeneity, disciplining its diversity and subordinating it to the logic of exchange value and abstract labour through the construction of global commodities chains and global unpaid activities chains.

Jason W. Moore replies to Gennaro Avallone’s questions and succeeds in simultaneously providing an introductory presentation of world-ecology’s fundamental concepts and a critical discussion of some problematic issues recently emerged within the political ecology interna-tional debate. Amongst these latter are his relationship with the theorists of "metabolic rift" and the historical novelty represented by negative-value.

Inspired by neighborhood studies and neighborhood effect theories, this work investigates the possible relationship between collective social isolation and local resources. The paper re-traces the history of a district strongly characterized by public housing in Bologna through a contextualist paradigm and a conditional approach. The analysis, carried out through different research tools, aims at examining how socio-spatial isolation developed over time and can still influence inhabitants
