Haber estudiado en el programa de Condicionamiento en Queens College de City University of New York (1972-1981) me coloca en una posicion unica para celebrar el cumpleanos numero 70 de Principles of Psychology. A diferencia de mi contacto esporadico con Fred Keller, estuve en contacto continuo con Nat Schoenfeld. Durante este periodo lei por primera vez este maravilloso libro. Dado que es imposible un analisis impersonal del texto, decidi compartir un par de recuerdos de esa epoca. Uno fue mi obsesion por entender las premisas del pensamiento de Nat. Conclui que casi invariablemente trataba de integrar las variables independientes de la conducta conocidas en continuos que permitieran una variacion cuantitativa para producir nuevo conocimiento. Mi segundo recuerdo se relaciona con el anterior y fue mi descubrimiento de su sistematizacion del conocimiento establecido. Esto es evidente en Principles of Psychology cuando enfatiza que el analisis de la conducta es una vision de toda la psicologia. El texto organiza el conocimiento establecido como variaciones del reforzamiento y la extincion, con cada capitulo anadiendo nuevo conocimiento al anterior. El poder de esta estrategia es evidente en los ultimos tres capitulos sobre motivacion, emocion y conducta social, que no son temas comunes en analisis de la conducta.
