Abstract Hanes, M.M., B. Mashburn & M.W. Callmander (2022). Transfer of the endemic Malagasy species of Kosteletzkya to Hibiscus and Perrierophytum (Malvaceae). Candollea 77: 161–171. In English, English and French abstracts. Madagascar is home to eight species that are currently assigned to the pantropical genus Kosteletzkya C. Presl. (Malvaceae). Phylogenetic studies have revealed that these species are not monophyletic and, instead, fall into three distinct clades that are each currently recognized at generic rank. The widespread African species K. adoensis (Hochst. ex A. Rich.) Mast. is the only species of the genus Kosteletzkya still recognized on Madagascar while the seven endemic Malagasy Kosteletzkya species are transferred to either Hibiscus L. or Perrierophytum Hochr., in accordance with their morphology, phylogenetic understanding, and generic delimitation. In so doing, we propose seven new combinations: Hibiscus retrobracteatus (Hochr.) M.M. Hanes & Callm., Perrierophytum macranthum (Hochr.) M.M. Hanes & Callm., P. madagascariense (Baker) M.M. Hanes & Callm., P. malvocoeruleum (Hochr.) M.M. Hanes & Callm., P. reflexiflorum (Hochr.) M.M. Hanes & Callm., P. thouarsianum (Baill.) M.M. Hanes & Callm., and P. velutinum (Garcke) M.M. Hanes & Callm. Four new synonyms are also proposed and five lectotypes are designated. Risk of extinction assessments of these seven species indicate that two species should be classified as “Least Concern”, one as “Endangered”, and four as “Critically Endangered”. Abstract Chautems, A., D.B.O.S. Cardoso & M. Perret (2022). Two new species of Sinningia (Gesneriaceae) endemic to Bahia, Brazil. Candollea 77: 137–144. In English, English abstract. Two new species of Sinningia Nees (Gesneriaceae) occurring in the state of Bahia in northeastern Brazil are described and illustrated, i.e., S. ganevii Chautems & Mat. Perret and S. sulphurea Chautems & D.B.O.S. Cardoso. Sinningia ganevii is unique within the genus by its tubular-campanulate and light purple corollas borne in the upper axils of erect stems 20–60 cm long. Sinningia sulphurea is characterized by pale yellow corollas borne on short axillary pedicels arising from an erect stem. Both species are illustrated, featured with photographs and distribution map, and their IUCN conservation status assessed. Morphological features and pollination syndromes are discussed based on recent phylogenetic studies on the subtribe Ligeriinae. Received on February 2, 2022. Accepted on July 17, 2022. Abstract Gautier, L., C.G. Boluda, R. Randrianaivo & Y. Naciri (2022). Two further new species in the highly-diverse Malagasy endemic genus Capurodendron (Sapotaceae). Candollea 77: 119–126. In English, English and French abstracts. During the course of a revision of the Malagasy species of the family Sapotaceae, two new species from the dry forest belonging to the highly-diverse endemic genus Capurodendron Aubrév. were discovered. The first one, C. mikearum L. Gaut. & Boluda, earlier hypothesised to be a hybrid, emerged as a valid species without any hybrid signal, based on a combination of genetic and morphological analyses of a species complex from the southwestern region. The second species, C. namorokense L. Gaut. & Boluda, occupies a basal position in the same species clade. It is clearly morphologically distinct and geographically distant, so far only being known from northwestern Madagascar. Both species are described and illustrated by line drawings and field photographs. Preliminary conservation assessments using the IUCN Red List criteria indicate that both species are threatened (EN and CR, respectively). Received on January 6, 2022. Accepted on April 27, 2022. First published online on June 1, 2022.

Abstract Plunkett, G.M., T.A. Ranker, C. Sam & M.J. Balick (2022). Towards a checklist of the Vascular Flora of Vanuatu. Candollea 77: 105–118. In English, English and French abstracts. Vanuatu is an archipelago in the southwest Pacific that, to date, has no modern checklist of its flora, despite the fact that it sits in the midst of several other archipelagos of known species richness (New Caledonia, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands, among others). The present study describes our effort to establish a checklist of accepted species names that apply to taxa known or thought to occur in Vanuatu. In collating data from the Vanuatu National Herbarium (PVNH) and online databases (including virtual herbaria and database compilations), we have developed a checklist of 1,631 species of vascular plants, of which 1,262 (77.4 %) are putatively native, and 360 (22.1 %) introduced (the distributional status of the remaining 0.5 % are uncertain). Endemics represent 10.1 % of all species (native plus introduced), but 13.1 % when considering native species only. This article is linked to a dynamic checklist available online that will be continually updated, and we encourage members of the global botanical community, especially those with expertise in the taxa listed or the general floristics of the Pacific Islands, to provide corrections and additions. [摘要]Plunkett, g.m., T.A. Ranker, C. Sam和M.J. Balick(2022)。
