Abstract Ranjbar, M. & N. Rahchamani (2022). Taxonomic revision of the broad-margined calyx species of Scrophularia (Scrophulariaceae) in Iran, with one new species. Candollea 77: 57–70. In English, English abstract. The species of Scrophularia L. (Scrophulariaceae) with broad-margined calyx are taxonomically revised. The studied group includes S. haematantha Boiss. & Heldr., S. kollakii S.A. Ahmad, S. mesopotamica Boiss., S. pruinosa Boiss., S. rosulata Stiefelh., S. sanguinea Grau, S. sulaimanica S.A. Ahmad and S. valida Grau, all of them characterized by having a farinaceous indumentum, a broad-margined calyx and a gland-dotted staminode. One new species from Iran belonging to this group is here described, i.e., S. sardashtensis Ranjbar & Rahch. Scrophularia kollakii and S. sulaimanica are also recorded in Iran for the first time. Macro and micro-morphological characters of this species are examined and compared with the related taxa. Detailed descriptions and distribution maps are provided for the nine species treated. Additionally, the names S. haematantha, S. pruinosa and S. rosulata are lectotypified. Received on May 5, 2018. Accepted on January 20, 2022. First published online on June 1, 2022.

Abstract Gautier, L., C.G. Boluda, R. Randrianaivo & Y. Naciri (2022). Two further new species in the highly-diverse Malagasy endemic genus Capurodendron (Sapotaceae). Candollea 77: 119–126. In English, English and French abstracts. During the course of a revision of the Malagasy species of the family Sapotaceae, two new species from the dry forest belonging to the highly-diverse endemic genus Capurodendron Aubrév. were discovered. The first one, C. mikearum L. Gaut. & Boluda, earlier hypothesised to be a hybrid, emerged as a valid species without any hybrid signal, based on a combination of genetic and morphological analyses of a species complex from the southwestern region. The second species, C. namorokense L. Gaut. & Boluda, occupies a basal position in the same species clade. It is clearly morphologically distinct and geographically distant, so far only being known from northwestern Madagascar. Both species are described and illustrated by line drawings and field photographs. Preliminary conservation assessments using the IUCN Red List criteria indicate that both species are threatened (EN and CR, respectively). Received on January 6, 2022. Accepted on April 27, 2022. First published online on June 1, 2022.

Abstract Plunkett, G.M., T.A. Ranker, C. Sam & M.J. Balick (2022). Towards a checklist of the Vascular Flora of Vanuatu. Candollea 77: 105–118. In English, English and French abstracts. Vanuatu is an archipelago in the southwest Pacific that, to date, has no modern checklist of its flora, despite the fact that it sits in the midst of several other archipelagos of known species richness (New Caledonia, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands, among others). The present study describes our effort to establish a checklist of accepted species names that apply to taxa known or thought to occur in Vanuatu. In collating data from the Vanuatu National Herbarium (PVNH) and online databases (including virtual herbaria and database compilations), we have developed a checklist of 1,631 species of vascular plants, of which 1,262 (77.4 %) are putatively native, and 360 (22.1 %) introduced (the distributional status of the remaining 0.5 % are uncertain). Endemics represent 10.1 % of all species (native plus introduced), but 13.1 % when considering native species only. This article is linked to a dynamic checklist available online that will be continually updated, and we encourage members of the global botanical community, especially those with expertise in the taxa listed or the general floristics of the Pacific Islands, to provide corrections and additions. Received on May 11, 2021. Accepted on April 29, 2022. First published online on June 1, 2022.
[摘要]Plunkett, g.m., T.A. Ranker, C. Sam和M.J. Abstract Applequist, W.L. (2022). Recognition of a second species in the Homalium involucratum complex (Salicaceae). Candollea 77: 53–56. In English, English and French abstracts. The most recent published treatment of Homalium involucratum (DC.) Hoffm. (Salicaceae) in Madagascar treats three regional variants at the rank of forma. The southeastern forma lucidum (Scott Elliot) H. Perrier is very well distinguished and should be recognized at the species level. The new combination H. viride (H. Perrier) Appleq. is published for this taxon, and its distinguishing morphological features are summarized. A risk of extinction assessment indicates that H. viride is “Vulnerable”. Abstract Calvo, J., G. Benítez, A. Granda & H. Beltrán (2022). On the identity and typification of Raimondi's names Culcitium discolor and Cryptochaete andicola (Compositae). Candollea 77: 1–8. In English, English abstract. The invaluable labor of Antonio Raimondi (1824–1890) to study and record the natural history of Peru is well known, however, his contribution to the plant taxonomy has not been so well documented. Raimondi described five new species, which mostly were wrongly ascribed to other botanists or just overlooked. A recent contribution has been addressed to bring into light this issue, however, the adopted taxonomic decisions regarding the Compositae names require some amendments. Herein, we discuss the taxonomic identity of the names Cryptochaete andicola Raimondi and Culcitium discolor Raimondi. Both names are neotypified in order to remove any uncertainty surrounding their application. Culcitium discolor is proposed as a new synonym for Senecio rhizomatus Rusby. Received on April 15, 2021. Accepted on December 10, 2021. First published online on February 22, 2022.

Abstract Jongkind, C.C.H. & O. Lachenaud (2022). Novelties in African Apocynaceae. Candollea 77: 17–51. In English, English and French abstracts. In preparing the treatment of the Apocynaceae for the Flore du Gabon, a number of taxonomic novelties were discovered. Ten new species are here described and illustrated, nine of which occur in Gabon: Baissea atrobrunnea O. Lachenaud, Hunteria maasiorum Jongkind & E. Bidault, Landolphia anthonii Jongkind, L. obovata O. Lachenaud & Jongkind, L. persooniana O. Lachenaud & Jongkind, L. verrucosa Jongkind & O. Lachenaud, Oncinotis gabonica O. Lachenaud, Pleiocarpa robusta O. Lachenaud and Voacanga cornuta Jongkind. Seven of these species are endemic to the country, while Landolphia anthonii and L. obovata are also found in Cameroon. The remaining new species is Tabernaemontana fragrans Jongkind, which occurs from Guinea to Ghana and includes the West African material previously referred to T. psorocarpa (Pierre ex Stapf) Pichon. Additionally, five taxa are resurrected from synonymy, two of which are new combinations: Baissea congensis (R.D. Good) Jongkind and Voacanga lanceolata (Stapf) Jongkind. Finally, a lectotype is designated for the name Baissea concinna. Conservation status assessments are presented for the new species. Received on April 27, 2021. Accepted on December 10, 2021.
