ABSTRACT A new species of Gymnosiphon Blume (Burmanniaceae), G. mayottensis Cheek, sp. nov. is formally described from Mount Bénara and Mount Mtsapéré on the island of Mayotte in the Comores. This is the first named species of the genus published from the Comoro Islands. The new species resembles G. longistylus (Benth.) Hutch. in the six long, filamentous, stigma appendages, two arising from each of the three styles, also in the absence of an underground tuber or thickened rhizome; it differs in that the bracts are appressed to the rhachises, and about equal in length to them (not patent, and < ¼ as long), the outer tepals turn rapidly from white to translucent at anthesis (not remaining white), the inner perianth lobes are absent (not present and conspicuous), the stigmas are broader than long, held horizontally and are united along their lateral margins (not longer than broad, pendulous, free from each other along their lateral margins). The new species is known from two forest sites, both with threats, and less than 50 individuals are known. Accordingly, it is assessed as Critically Endangered (B1ab(i-iv), B2ab(i-iv), D) using the IUCN 2012 standard. The new species is illustrated by colour photos and line drawings, and mapped.

ABSTRACT Gossia N. Snow & Guymer from New Caledonia as revised here comprises 30 taxa. Nine new species are proposed, including: Gossia angustifolia sp. nov., G. bourailensis N. Snow, sp. nov., G. conduplicata sp. nov., G. kaalaensis sp. nov., G. katepahiensis sp. nov., G. mandjeliaensis sp. nov., G. ngaensis sp. nov., G. ouazangouensis, and G. ramiflora sp. nov. Ten new subspecies are proposed: two in Gossia aphthosa (Vieill. ex Brongn. & Gris) (G. a. subsp. longipedunculata N. Snow & Munzinger, subsp. nov. and subsp. austro-orientalis N. Snow & K. Gandhi, subsp. nov.), and eight in Gossia clusioides (Brongn. & Gris) N. Snow (G. c. subsp. avanguiensis subsp. nov., G. c. subsp. bleuensis subsp. nov., G. c. subsp. callmanderiana subsp. nov., G. c. subsp. maoyana subsp. nov., G. c. subsp. ploumensis N. Snow, comb. et stat. nov., G. c. subsp. rembaiensis subsp. nov., G. c. subsp. taomensis subsp. nov., and G. c. subsp. tiebaghiensis subsp. nov. The new combination Gossia conspicua (Vieill. ex Guillaumin) N. Snow, comb. nov. is made; a second-stage lectotype and epitype are selected for Gossia diversifolia (basionym Eugenia diversifolia Brongn. & Gris); a lectotype is selected for Eugenia heckelii Pancher & Sebert, which here is reduced to synonymy under G. vieillardii (Brongn. & Gris) N. Snow; and a lectotype is selected for Eugenia cataractarum Guillaumin, which here is reduced to synonymy under G. kuakuensis (Baker f.) N. Snow. Myrtus pulchrefolius Guillaumin is reduced to synonymy under Gossia alaternoides. The Australian species Gossia byrnesii N. Snow & Guymer is synonymized under Eugenia reinwardtiana DC. The treatment provides a key to and descriptions of all known New Caledonian taxa and includes comments on distributions, distribution maps, ecology and phenology. Illustrations are provided for nearly all taxa and digital images of living material are presented for several. With this revision, Gossia now comprises 45 species and ten subspecies.

niauensis sp. nov.

ABSTRACT Cinnadenia Kosterm. (Lauraceae) consists of three species, namely, C. paniculata (Hook.f.) Kosterm. which occurs in India and Bhutan, C. liyuyingii (H.Liu) de Kok & Sengun, comb. nov. from Northern Vietnam and South China and C. malayana Kosterm. which is endemic to Peninsular Malaysia. All species are rarely collected and consequently Cinnadenia is a poorly known genus. The genus is revised here with a summary of its taxonomic history, key, full descriptions, distribution map, conservation assessments, ecological data, and a delineation of its key morphology. Cinnadenia liyuyingii, comb. nov. which was previously placed in Litsea or as a synonym of C. paniculata, is moved here to Cinnadenia for the first time.

ABSTRACT The occurrence of Echinops siculus Strobl, previously considered endemic to Italy, is for the first time reported from the Balkan Peninsula based on plants collected in Corfu (Greece). Morphological similarities with other taxa of Echinops L. recorded in Greece are briefly discussed. Presence of Echinops albidus Boiss. & Spruner is excluded from Italy, E. spinosissimus Turra subsp. neumayeri (Vis.) Kožuharov is confirmed for Albania. Further notes concerning the occurrence of these three species on the Ionian Islands are provided. The names of the three taxa are lectotypified.

ABSTRACT Scilla hakkariensis, sp. nov. (Asparagaceae), described herein as a new species to science, is endemic to the eastern Anatolian region of Turkey. It is related to S. libanotica Speta and S. mischtschenkoana Grossh., but clearly differs from them based on the morphological differences presented in the species description. Specifically, it is easily distinguished from both of them by its seeds without elaiosome. In addition, the conservation status, a distribution map, and notes on the biogeography and ecology of the new species are given.

ABSTRACT We recognize 30 species of the pantropical genus Xylopia L. from Madagascar and an additional three species from the Mascarene Islands. Of the six sections of the genus, three are represented in the region: sect. Xylopia, sect. Verdcourtia, and sect. Stenoxylopia. All species are endemic, and many are microendemics of conservation concern. The greatest species richness occurs in humid forests below 1000 m. Taxonomic review supports the hypothesis that the genus dispersed to Madagascar from continental Africa five times. Ten new species are described: Xylopia anomala D.M.Johnson & N.A.Murray, sp. nov., X. australis D.M.Johnson & N.A.Murray, sp. nov., X. carinata D.M.Johnson & N.A.Murray, sp. nov., X. galokothamna D.M.Johnson & N.A.Murray, sp. nov., X. lokobensis D.M.Johnson & N.A.Murray, sp. nov., X. longirostra D.M.Johnson & N.A.Murray, sp. nov., X. marojejyana D.M.Johnson & N.A.Murray, sp. nov., X. ravelonarivoi D.M.Johnson & N.A.Murray, sp. nov., X. retusa D.M.Johnson & N.A.Murray, sp. nov., and X. sclerophylla D.M.Johnson & N.A.Murray, sp. nov. An identification key, technical descriptions, illustrations, and distribution maps are provided.
描述了10个新种:异常木藻d.m.j onson&n.a.m urry,十一月,x.x carinata d.m.j onson&n.a.m urry,十一月,x.x galokothamna d.m.j onson&n.a.m urry,十一月,x.x marojejyana d.m.j onson&n.a.m urry,十一月,x.x ravelonarivoi d.m.j onson&n.a.m urry,十一月,x.x retusa d.m.j onson&n.a.m urry,十一月,和x.x硬藻d.m.j onson&n.a.m urry,十一月。

A large colony of duckweeds (Araceae: Lemnoideae) grows on the constantly wet, vertical wall of the rock shelter behind the Llanos de Cortes waterfall of the Potrero River, Guanacaste province, Costa Rica, the first such case ever documented. Its unique hygropetric environment is described. The colony covers several square meters distributed in several different patches, and consists almost entirely of Wolffiella oblonga (Phil.) Hegelm., with much fewer individuals of Lemna valdiviana Phil. and L. aequinoctialis Welw. This also constitutes the first case of the genus Wolffiella Hegelm. growing in a hygropetric manner (an extremely rare condition for duckweeds) and the first record of W. oblonga in Costa Rica.

The names Arctotis staticifolia Poir. and Arctotis tenuifolia Poir. were validly published by Jean Louis Marie Poiret based on material collected from “Cap de Bonne-Esperance” and stated to be lodged in the Herbier Desfontaines. No original material for Arctotis staticifolia has been traced. The protologue is inconsistent with any known Arctotis L. species and previous treatment of A. staticifolia as a synonym of Gazania linearis (Thunb.) Druce var. linearis is not supported. The protologue for Arctotis staticifolia is most consistent with a narrow-leaved taxon of Dimorphotheca Vaill. ex Moench and specifically D. nudicaulis (L.) DC. var. graminifolia (L.) Harv. A neotype for Arctotis staticifolia is designated consistent with our interpretation and the name is formally placed in the synonymy of Dimorphotheca nudicaulis var. graminifolia. Arctotis tenuifolia Poir. has previously been treated as a synonym of Dimorphotheca nudicaulis var. graminifolia. Original material was located and the name Arctotis tenuifolia Poir. is here lectotypified and is placed in the synonymy of Ursinia tenuifolia (L.) Poir. subsp. tenuifolia. Arctotis tenuifolia Poir. is a later heterotypic homonym of Arctotis tenuifolia L. and is therefore nomenclaturally illegitimate. A lectotype is designated for Sphenogyne tenuifolia (L.) DC. var. heterochroma Harv., a synonym of Ursinia tenuifolia subsp. tenuifolia.
Poir。 tenuifolia。 tenuifolia。
