Particle image velocimetry (PIV) was applied to characterize the morphological changes of flocs and to acquired velocity field data in the coagulation process in Taylor-Couette reactor. By use of PIV,the morphological of the flocs in the coagulation process can be characterized and described with good performance. It was shown that the flocculation efficiencies reached the maximum values and the size of the generated flocs in the coagulation process was the biggest when the roating speed was in the range between 20~60 rpm. It was demonstrated that PIV can be exploited as a useful tool in the in-situ observation flocs during coagulation processes.

The ecological environment of Qinghai-Tibet plateau is fragile. The sewage, produced by passenger trains and the stations along Ge'ermu-Lhasa section of Qinghai-Tibet railway, has seriously threatened the water environment along the railway. In this paper, the status of the sewage treatment along Qinghai-Tibet railway has been well monitored and analyzed, and corresponding solutions were proposed on this basis.

The temporal and spatial evolution of temperature and precipitation (TAP) were analyzed at annual and seasonal scale in Jilin Province from 1953 to 2009 in this study. Firstly, based on monthly TAP of 16 stations, Thiessen polygon method was used to obtain seasonal and annual temperature (mean, minimum and maximum) and precipitation of Jilin Province. Then Mann-Kendall test and power spectral analysis were applied to analyze the abrupt change point, trend and periodicity of time series. At last the spatial distribution of TAP changes rate was studied in the platform of ArcGIS. The results showed that: 1) A significant increasing trend was shown in annual mean temperature and minimum temperature of Jilin Province, which had two significant periods of 64/16 years. However, the trend of annual maximum temperature was fluctuated and insignificant, and it had an obvious period of 2-4 years. Annual precipitation showed a significant decreasing trend, of which, abrupt changes occurred in 1960s and had two periods of 32/4 years. 2) The trend of seasonal TAP was consistent with annual TAP. And the occurrence of abrupt change and periodicity of annual TAP were also consistent with those in summer. However, there was some difference in the other seasons. 3) The increasing rate of temperature in the west was higher than that in the east of Jilin Province. And the changes rate of temperature in spring and winter were higher than that in summer and autumn. However, the distribution of precipitation changes rate was opposite to that of the temperature, and it was higher in summer and autumn and lower in spring and winter.

An algorithm is proposed in this paper to realize the spatial queries based on direction relations. This includes two procedures: first, the algorithm searches the objects whose MBRs meet the given directions by using the cone-based model and improved quad-tree to construct the candidate set; second, the result set will be got by removing the objects that can not meet the given directions in the candidate set. Types of vector rivers data have been selected to test the correctness and efficiency of the algorithm, and the experiments show that the algorithm can greatly improve the query efficiency and can be directly used in spatial database retrieval.

Solar energy is a clean and conventional energy sources playing a vital role in today's society in which the energy source is depleting. Taking solar power as the main power in the system, the good effect can be achieved. Through the combination treatment of circular tower biological filter (CTBF) and subsurface flow type constructed wetland (SFCW), CODcr in the effluence was less than 100mg/L stably and NH3-N was less than 30mg/L. It suggests that solar power can substitute for traditional energy to sewage treatment is feasible. However, it is still a real long way to take the solar power to replace the traditional energy in the actual project because of the poor economy.

General information gathering channels is hard to get effective information required for research of international rivers; it is necessary and critical to explore new method of information collection in order to investigate hydrological water resources in the area which lacks data. In the mass information of Internet, emergence of the platform- Google Earth (GE) provides a “scene” mode of remote information retrieval for environmental resources, traffic planning and many other fields. This article probes into the application framework and assessment method used for water resources development and utilization in the area with lack of needful data based on the GE platform, and demonstrates the application research of the middle-lower reaches of Balkhash basin as an example. The results show that the GE platform can be used as an effective information gathering means for water resources development and utilization in area with lack of needful data. The proposed framework, application flow chart and assessment method have preferable maneuverability in this disquisition; the basic pattern of the investigation area that was formed in early 1990, is composed of the middle-lower reaches of Ili River as the main body, Junggar region and northern small rivers of Balkhash as the important water system area; with the drastic fluctuation in economic and social development in the investigation area, local water consumption has undergone the evolution pattern of “growth-peak-acute reduction-restorative growth”. Now it is estimated that the water consumption may have resumed to the level in the mid 1980's, namely about 6.5 billion m3.

China's independent satellite industry has developed rapidly in recent years. With the increasing quantities and types of independent satellites in orbit, the data is booming as well. So applications and researches on it get deeper and deeper. The data preprocessing, a key part of these applications and researches, is required to be more convenient and more streamlined as the emergence of massive independent data. In response to these requests, after analyzing the characteristics and preprocessing methods of data from three kinds of satellites, China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS), Beijing-1 Micro-satellite and Huanjing-1 Satellites (HJ-1), this paper develops the China's Independent Satellite Data Preprocessing System based on ArcGIS Engine (ArcEngine) & Interactive Data Language (IDL).

Rapid transmission of vector map data over the Internet has become a hot issue in the field of spatial data delivery in web-based environment because of the conflict between huge quantity of map data amount and limited network bandwidth. A method of organizing and transmitting vector river data via the Internet is put forward in this paper. This approach considers two levels of importance of river data, i.e. the importance of river branches and the importance of the points belonging to each river branch, and forms data packages according to the two levels of importance. Our experiments have shown that the proposed approach can reduce 90% of original data as well as preserve the river structure well.

For the image characteristics of more serious damage to vegetation, geological characteristics and mechanism of remote sensing, the paper put forward some remote sensing indices based on background value of remote sensing images, such as vegetation index, soil brightness index, PC1 of principal components transformation and terrain data, which could reflect background information of landslides and collapses. Meanwhile, integrated calculation method of remote sensing index was proposed, which could effectively increase spectral differences of bare land with vegetation, terrain shadows, rivers and other surface features. Gray value of bare land was the lowest in the image so as to obtain segmenting value to accurately extract polygons of bare land based on automatic selection algorithm of threshold.
