Performance Study of W-CDMA Adaptive Array Antennas W-CDMA自适应阵列天线性能研究

The effect of the antenna geometry and the adaptive algorithm on the performance of a W-CDMA adaptive array antenna for mobile terminals is investigated experimentally. A W-CDMA receiving system for a 4-element array antenna is developed. The adaptive algorithm and the array antenna configuration are changed according to the requirement of the investigation. The performance of the system including synthesized pattern, adaptive weight and bit-error-rate (BER) characteristics are measured for the performance analysis. Results show that signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) can be greatly improved by 6 to 10 dB compared with the single antenna when BER is equal to 10-3. BER of the single monopole with a reflector is lower than that of the single monopole because the monopole with reflector has a higher gain in the direction of the desired wave. However, the SIR improvement of the monopole array is larger than that of the monopole array with a reflector because the array element gain of the monopole to the direction of the interference is larger. It seems that array elements which have homogeneous radiation pattern and high radiation efficiency are suitable to the adaptive array antennas

In this paper, the statistical property of the transmitting antenna reflection inside a reverberation chamber is studied. Furthermore, the normalization methods by using the forward and net power of the transmitting antenna in the chamber calibration are compared. The results show that the fwd-normalization method is accurate enough for the practical engineering application. Further comparison on the accuracy of field uniformity calibration by using the fwd-normalization and net-normalization methods are done

This paper introduces a suspended stripline over mushroom-like SMPs that has excellent band stop filter characteristics, and apply it to the conventional DFDP antenna in order to enhance isolation. Since the structure of the suspended stripline over the SMP provides strong coupling between the feedline and the SMP, a significant skirt rejection band and near 0 dB the insertion loss outside the rejection band can be achieved with only two SMP unit cells

This paper presents a circularly polarized (CP) broadband high efficiency active integrated antenna (AIA). To realize the broadband CP antenna, a circular patch is coupled by crossed slots in the ground plane, which are fed by an L-shaped microstrip feed line below the ground. The antenna is designed to serve as the harmonics-terminated load for class-E high-efficiency power amplifier (PA). The broadband CP active antenna is realized by directly integrating the broadband CP antenna with a broadband class-E PA

Using anisotropic high impedance surfaces for tuning antenna performance 利用各向异性高阻抗面调谐天线性能

More recently, structures capable of being produced inexpensively and operated in the more commercially viable bands have been proposed. Unfortunately, high impedance (high-Z) surfaces capable of operating at lower frequencies tend to be far more susceptible to fabrication errors because of complex surface patterns. In most cases, standard circuit board manufacturing tolerances are too loose to create such high-Z surfaces to the necessary accuracy. To circumvent these difficulties in fabrication, we propose that adding a small degree of anisotropy to high-Z surfaces can enable compensatory tunability for certain planar antennas located on the surface by simply rotating the antenna. Doing so allows fabrication tolerances to be loosened to those available for large scale, inexpensive fabrication

The frequency dependent alternating direction-implicit finite difference time domain (FD-ADI-FDTD) method is designed to handle FD materials and there is to date no study of the influence of FD materials on the complex frequency-shifted perfectly matched layer (CFS-PML) parameters. This paper studies the effects of the CFS-PML parameters on the reflection coefficient with regard to the FD media parameters

The present study discusses a new microstrip-based resonant device that is specifically intended for foam measurements at frequencies 1-10 GHz. It is based on a microstrip ring resonator. However, the ring and the feed network are physically located in separate planes, thus enabling the placement of an arbitrary sample of material to be measured in the substrate of the ring resonator. A transmission line method (TLM) is used to predict the frequency response. Preliminary experimental data in L- and S-bands are presented and compared with theory estimates for the foams
