A conversation analytic approach to the prediction of leadership in two to six-party audio conferences 对话分析方法预测领导在二至六方音频会议

When evaluating the Quality of Experience (QoE) of audio conferences the participants talking behaviour is critical for their quality judgement. A dominant person, for instance, who talks and interacts a lot is likely to be more disturbed by conversation-related impairments than a less active person. Social interaction analysis provides reliable nonverbal audio features to predict dominance in face-to-face meetings. However, little is known about pure audio conferences. This is why this study investigates common dominance features for audio-only conferences. In the first part, we look at different group sizes and whether prediction models exist that predict the leader for two-to six-party audio-only conversations. In a second step, we apply the best model to an unknown audio conferencing dataset. Finally, we tested if dominance features are associated to the assigned caller or a particular person in each group and how the callers talking behaviour is related to perceived quality.

No-reference image visual quality assessment using nonlinear regression 基于非线性回归的无参考图像视觉质量评价

In this paper, a novel no-reference image visual quality metric is proposed based on fusion of statistical and human visual system based metrics using ε-Support Vector Regression. Different order polynomial regression was also examined as an approximation that has lower computational complexity. Compared to existing image quality assessment metrics, the proposed fused metric is able to better quantify the image quality regardless of the type of degradation. We furthermore improve the image quality assessment by training a separate regression model for each degradation type. The latter degradation specific approach yields near perfect correlation with subjective scores, however, it relies on prior knowledge of the degradation process.

Subjective characteristics for stereoscopic high definition video 立体高清视频的主观特征

Stereoscopic high definition video is one of the promising next-generation video services because 3D video can express more life-like visual experiences. 3D video quality of experience is affected by the employed codec and video format. Therefore, we conducted extensive subjective assessments for side-by-side and frame-sequential video sequences using different codecs. In this paper, we first show that the quality and depth perception of the frame-sequential video sequence are higher than those of the side-by-side video sequence for uncompressed video sequences. Then, using the encoded video sequences, we show that the quality and depth perception depend on the amount of spatio-temporal information and that a high-quality 3D video sequence with a MOS-Q (mean opinion score for quality with a five-grade scales) > 3.5, is required to achieve better depth perception than 2D video. Finally, we show that the naturalness of the encoded 3D video sequences correlates highly with the quality.

How the task of evaluating image quality influences viewing behavior 评估图像质量的任务如何影响观看行为

Image quality scores collected in subjective experiments are widely used in image quality research, particularly in the design of objective quality assessment algorithms. It is therefore of vital importance to make sure that the collected scores reflect viewers' opinions in real-life situations. However, just by giving the viewers the task of assessing quality, there is a risk that their behavior has changed from what it would be in a natural viewing condition. We here investigate this difference in behavior by examining the gaze response in both conditions, i.e. free looking and scoring quality, with the help of eye-tracking equipment. Even though the observed behavior shows similarities between the two conditions, there are also significant differences which should be taken in consideration in future image quality research.
