Electron beam-wave interaction using FDTD and Lorentz force equation is used to analyze interaction between electron beam and propagation modes of a slow wave structure supported inside an air-core cylindrical waveguide. Based on this model a THz signal generator at frequency ≈ 400GHz is proposed.

Leaky fields from damaged shields 从损坏的护盾漏场

Initial simulations and lab measurements were presented in this paper regarding leaky fields from small holes. Computer simulations provided motivation that external fields could be sensed by a rudimentary coil sensor. Lab experiments provided initial data that these external signals are detectable. The work going forward will focus on quantifying the effect of shield damage size and shape to leaky fields, the strength of the fields as the coil moves away, and optimal coil sensor design.

Dual band dielectric resonator antenna mounted on a defected ground plane 安装在缺陷地平面上的双频介质谐振器天线

A new dual band dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) for WLAN band is presented. The DRA is excited by a vertical strip attached to the DRA, which is connected to a 50 Ω microstrip line on a defected ground plane. The deformed ground plane has a conducting strip under the DRA that cause the first resonance at 2.4 GHz. The second band is wide with 44% bandwidth between 5 to 8 GHz due to the dielectric resonator and the vertical strip excitation.

Comparison of numerical approaches to the evaluation of Veselago Lens' Green's function Veselago Lens’s Green函数评价数值方法的比较

Three approaches to numerical evaluation of two-dimensional Green's function under TMz polarization are studied for the Veselago Lens of finite and infinite extent. The first approach formulates the Green's function of the infinite lens in terms of Fourier integral which is subsequently evaluated numerically via direct integration along a modified path. The second approach extracts the dominant field contribution near focus analytically with subsequent numerical treatment of the remaining faster converging Fourier integral term. The third approach is based on the method of moments solution of the integral equation formulated for the finite size lens. The methods are compared to each other for levels of resolution ranging from 0.077 down to 0.0312 wavelength.

Design and fabrication of low-cost PUMA arrays 低成本PUMA阵列的设计与制造

Measurements and simulations for various Planar Ultrawideband Modular Antenna (PUMA) arrays are presented. The arrays are based on tightly-coupled printed dipoles above a ground plane and are fully planar, where both the radiating aperture and feed lines are fabricated using low-cost multilayer PCB technology. The dipoles are fed with a novel feeding scheme that suppresses a catastrophic common-mode resonance, thus eliminating the use of feed organizers and external baluns. A product of this novel feeding is the modularity of the aperture (tiled assembly). A proof of concept 16×16×2 dual-polarized array prototype operating over 7-21.5GHz (3∶1 bandwidth) was fabricated and measured. The results are in very good agreement with simulations, exhibiting a broadside VSWR = 2.1 and low (−15dB) cross-polarization in the diagonal plane out to 45°. Additionally, an infinite 5∶1 PUMA design with broadside VSWR = 2.1, better than 2.9 VSWR at 45° in the H-plane, and cross-pol less than −15dB out to θ = 45° in the D-plane is presented.

A wideband antenna is designed and implemented by using air filled stacked structure on thin PTFE substrate for millimeter wave personal network area (WPNA) application. The optimized antenna achieves more than 22% impedance bandwidth and more than 9 dBi gain over the frequency band 57 – 66 GHz.

Semi doughnut pattern Square Loop Antenna for vehicular and wireless applications 用于车辆和无线应用的半甜甜圈图案方形环形天线

Recently, a planar Square Loop Antenna (SLA) with four ports over a Hybrid High Impedance (HHIS) surface was reported which can steer its beam in four different quadrants in front of antenna. This is achieved by exciting one of the four input ports of the antenna and open circuiting the other three. In this work it is shown that the same SLA can be used to generate a semi-doughnut radiation pattern if all of its four ports are excited simultaneously with a signal of the same phase and amplitude. The SLA over HHIS is designed to operate at a frequency of 5.2 GHz and has an impedance bandwidth of 780 MHz for 50 Ω input impedance. The semi doughnut pattern has a maximum directivity of 4.3 dBi over a wide radiation pattern bandwidth of 1 GHz, covering the frequency range from 4.4 GHz to 5.4 GHz.

Design of a high gain hybrid dielectric resonator antenna for millimeter-waves underground applications 一种用于地下毫米波应用的高增益混合介质谐振器天线设计

This paper presents a new broadband and high gain dielectric resonator antenna for millimeter-wave underground communications systems. The proposed antenna is composed of a microstrip feed, a cylindrical dielectric resonator, and multiple metallic strips stacked to a superstrate. This antenna is dedicated for the 60 GHz frequency band. Results show that the antenna has great performances especially in terms of bandwidth and gain. A bandwidth of 12.69 % at the centered frequency of 59.55 GHz and a gain of 15.40 dBi over the entire band (57 GHz to 64 GHz) are obtained. A maximum gain of 16.71 dBi has been achieved at 58 GHz. This antenna provides an improvement of 10.71 dBi compared to the conventional single DRA. With these performances, this antenna is suitable for wireless underground communication systems.

Radiation characteristics of a flexible bow-tie antenna 柔性领结天线的辐射特性

This paper presents simulation and measurement of a flexible bow-tie which is fabricated at the Flexible Display Center (FDC) of Arizona State University (ASU). The substrate is heat stabilized polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) which allows the antenna to be flexible. The antenna is flexed in the form of a cylinder and its radiation properties are obtained for different radii of curvature. The return loss, radiation patterns and realized gain of the flexed antenna were compared with those of the flat antenna.

Measuring the transition switching speed of a semiconductor-based photoconductive switch using RF techniques 利用射频技术测量半导体光导开关的转换开关速度

This paper presents a new technique for measuring the switching speed of reconfigurable antenna systems driven by semiconductor-based photoconductive switches. Laser diodes are integrated within a stripline transmission line in order to efficiently illuminate the incorporated photoconductive switches. An experimental setup and measurement technique for estimating the ON←→OFF transition speed of the photoconductive switches, driven by a pulsed laser source, are presented.
