The authors present the transient behavior of a lossless transmission line by means of bounce or lattice charts. Resistive, capacitive, and inductive loads were considered and implemented using the C programming language to run on IBM PCs. The algorithm has been extended to be applied to lossy transmission lines where the effects of both attenuation and phase constants are considered.<>

Optimizing the performance of genetic algorithms for finding the optimal value of a given function 优化遗传算法的性能,以寻找给定函数的最优值

An approach for optimizing the performance of genetic algorithms (GAs) which is derived from the exhaustive examinations of some parameters of GAs is provided. The problems of finding the optimal values of some numerical functions are used as examples to illustrate the performance of GAs. GAs are shown to be effective for solving these problems. In addition, various parameters of the optimization algorithm are critically selected for efficiency. Experimental results suggest that while it is possible to optimize GA control parameters, excellent performances can be obtained with an appropriately selected range of GA control parameter settings, based mainly on the experience of the users.<>

A programmable switched-capacitor circuit for the generation of 1/f/sup y/ noise is reported. The circuit is described by a chaotic first-order piecewise-linear finite-difference equation which yields a hopping transition between regions of chaotic motions and hence produces 1/f/sup y/ noise. Experimental results illustrating the circuit performance are included.<>

A DC model for the high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) 高电子迁移率晶体管(HEMT)的直流模型

A novel analytical HEMT model is developed. The conduction mechanism due to the 2-DEG (two-dimensional electron gas) and the parallel AlGaAs is included. The numerical calculations of n/sub s/ and n/sub t/ were fitted to two closed-form analytical expressions that are easily integrable along the channel and are smooth to avert any discontinuity in the model parameters. The current contribution due to the parasitic MESFET in AlGaAs relative to the total current was determined. Second-order effects were included in the model. The theoretical predictions of the model are compared with experimental data and are found to be in good agreement over a wide range of bias conditions.<>

Simulation of computed torque controllers for flexible manipulators 柔性机械臂计算转矩控制器仿真

A finite element technique has been exploited to develop a general-purpose simulation model to test computed torque control algorithms for multilink, flexible manipulators with revolute joints. The methodology for using this simulation tool to test flexible robot joint controllers is presented along with specific simulation results showing the response of one- and two-link flexible manipulators to the computed torque control algorithms developed.<>

The authors describe the extension of the state space technique to analysis of nonlinear and time-variant lumped/distributed (L/D) networks. The topological formulation of state, output, and nonlinear equations for nonlinear and time-variant networks containing multiports and independent sources is used. These equations have been incorporated into a computer-aided procedure for the analysis of L/D networks. The procedure can be used for the simulation of any nonlinear microwave circuit and offers the facility of developing a multiport equivalent circuit for any linear or nonlinear device or subcircuit. Several examples are successfully analyzed using the developed general program. Practical microstrip circuits of the above-mentioned nonlinear circuit are given, and experimental and simulated results show very good agreement.<>

The authors describe the design of a systolic array processing element for use in multidimensional DFT (discrete Fourier transform) computation, using a suitable mapping technique, with a bit-serial approach, for implementation in VLSI, in a semicustom CAD (computer-aided design) tool environment. They investigate appropriate algorithms for computation of the DFT as well as VLSI architectures that the DFT algorithms may be mapped onto, and a mapping technique for multidimensional time systems onto VLSI architectures.<>

Efficient and reliable numerical algorithms for nonlinear microwave computer-aided design 高效可靠的非线性微波计算机辅助设计数值算法

The numerical solution issues that arise in the large-signal analysis of nonlinear microwave circuits are addressed at a fundamental level. The focus is on the nonlinear harmonic-balance equations (HBEs) arising from the application of the harmonic-balance (HB) method, the approach predominantly used in nonlinear microwave computer-aided design packages. Theoretical figures of merit are used to evaluate potential numerical methods for this application. Nonconvergence mechanisms that plague present HBE solvers are identified and discussed along with other previously neglected solution issues. Five novel so-called polyalgorithms have been developed for the HB method that bypass nonconvergence scenarios and possess an increased level of numerical efficiency and reliability.<>

Matrix filters can be implemented using block processing or recursive processing. Recursive processing is used to generate the output of time-invariant periodic and nonperiodic systems and time-varying memoryless systems for Class 1 and 2 filters. Simulations are presented to illustrate the relationships among signal characteristics, smoothing effects, and computational efficiency. It is noted that the types of estimation problems define the structure of the impulse response matrices: periodic time-invariant circulant filters estimate periodic signals; nonperiodic time-invariant Toeplitz filters estimate nonperiodic signals; and memoryless time-varying diagonal filters estimate wideband signals. The outputs obtained using Class 1 systems are in general better than those obtained using Class 2 systems.<>

Recursive processing is used to generate the output of time-invariant periodic and nonperiodic systems and time-varying memoryless systems for Class 1 and 2 filters. Simulations are presented to illustrate the relationships among signal characteristics, smoothing effects, and computational efficiency. It is noted that the types of estimation problems define the structure of the impulse response matrices: periodic time-invariant circulant filters estimate periodic signals; nonperiodic time-invariant Toeplitz filters estimate nonperiodic signals; and memoryless time-varying diagonal filters estimate wideband signals.
