This paper proposes an improved soft switched synchronous buck converter in a fixed load condition. The switching energy can be fully recovered during current commutation phase in the gate driver while the diode conduction losses in the low and high side switches can be substantially reduced by employing additional L and C resonant in the circuit. Using PSpice simulation, the optimization technique has been studied. From the predetermined pulse width of the generated signals, the optimized resonant inductor current is observed to generate less oscillation and hence lower the switching loss. In addition, an optimized dead time interval is inserted between high side and low side of the transistors in the synchronous buck converter to minimize their body diode conduction losses. The detailed operations of both circuits are analyzed.

The ubiquity of current Internet and future cyberspace facilitate creation of very effective and real-time collaborative environment supported with the Telepresence in 3D imaging. The ubiquity of current internet and future cyber-space facilitates creation of very effective and real-time collaborative environment supported with the 3D Telepresence and a new generation of Video Conferencing Technologies. Past decade will be remembered by dynamic developments and innovation in the field of information technologies (IT), communications and ubiquitous Internet technologies. Given the current economic climate, researchers and engineers worldwide are looking for new financially viable software/hardware solutions and platforms for the creation of virtual global corporations. Globalization of world trades open doors to mobility of workers as well as creation of virtual teams of experts and virtual companies bringing together experts from all over the world via 3D Telepresence combined with next generation of Holographic Image Technologies. Due to the ever increasing pressures to save oil and gas, the future transportation may break less air traffic across Atlantic and promote ocean travel bringing us back to glorious times of the Titanic. A trip from New York to London via air takes 7-8 hours. The same trip via Atlantic ferry may take 7-8 days. This would contribute to saving oil/gas and at the same time researchers, engineers, innovators, developers would have 7-8 days free time to dedicate to writing research proposals and work online with other colleagues as if they would never leave their own office and workplace. In support of telemarketing, CISCO has introduced new 3D Telepresense technologies that allow creation of virtual boardrooms where experts from all over the world would be able to conduct Round Table discussions in real-time, while seeing each other in 3D as if they would all be physically present in the same room at the same time. The author will discuss the current and future trends in the Future Cyberspace Collaborative Environments, as well as, his own vision on the Next Generation Collaborative Online Systems.

Since years, the using of telemedicine has increased although there are some technical issues related to standard and quality. In order to improve the telemedicine quality of service, a robust wireless connection between medical devices and telecommunication network is required. Unfortunately, many medical devices were developed without possibility to connect with telecommunication infrastructure. Due to this condition, a wireless medical interface has been developed. The interface has been implemented based on the advantages of ZigBee and Bluetooth technology. A new protocol has also been developed to enable robust communication between medical devices and telecommunication infrastructure. The interface has been tested to transfer the medical data from vital sign medical devices to a data processing system through wireless network. Measurement result shows that the interface is able to be used in transferring medical data from multi medical devices within range of 10 m with some interference sources.

Scheduling a parallel application on a set of processors is a well-known NP-Complete problem. The problem becomes more complex when the base system is composed of heterogeneous processors. In this paper, we present a low-complexity task scheduling algorithm for heterogeneous computing systems, which we call the Multiple Critical Path Dominator (MCPD) algorithm. This algorithm is based on task duplication and its complexity is. An application for scheduling is represented by a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG). The MCPD algorithm employs a novel list scheduling algorithm for prioritizing tasks. This list-scheduling algorithm considers the variation of the Critical Paths in the DAG statistically whereby the MCPD algorithm attempts to schedule tasks on the processor according to the importance of the parent. We base our decisions on mean values of computation and communication cost of nodes and edges in the unscheduled DAG.

ITIL is the most widely used IT framework in most organizations nowadays. Many public and private IT organizations have good impressions and attempt to adopt ITIL into their own businesses. However, the ITIL implementation faces some issues by the target organizations to accept this as a complete framework. In addition, there are several steps to implement this framework in the target organizations. This paper tries at first to clarify each of these major issues and then suggest a mature guideline on the implementation of ITIL in the target organizations.

This paper proposes a performance-enhancing fault-tolerant routing algorithm based on f-cube3 as a new solution for increasing the rate of switched and routed packets in NoCs. The f-cube3 algorithm is a wormhole-switched routing for 2-D mesh networks and has been used for block faults such as f-ring and f-chain. We have enhanced the use of virtual channels per each physical link without adding new extra virtual channel. It is proposed that when a message is not blocked by fault, all virtual channels could be used. We have simulated both f-cube3 and our algorithm for the same conditions; message length, network size, traffic etc. As the simulation results show, our algorithm has a higher saturation point than f-cube3 algorithm. The results also show that our algorithm has more utilization of links and less blocked messages rate than f-cube3.

The validity of the fundamental principles and methods of control and system theory with an abundance of applications not only remains unaffected but on the contrary, it is enriched with new tools and perspectives. Thus, in this paper, our main goal is to fill in the gap in teaching young mathematicians difficult and fundamental, mathematical concepts of control and system theory (descriptor systems). It is noted that our personal experience in various educational and research aspects is the starting point of motivation in the subsequent analysis. The proposed educational approach aims to address and overcome the difficulties that students are facing during the learning process of basic mathematical ideas using computational tools (Scilab). It is valid that Scilab seems to be a reasonable starting point to motivate students to become familiar with basic descriptor analysis concepts.

Routing in MANETs becomes a more sophisticated issue especially when a certain QoS requirement is to be satisfied. One of the most important QoS metrics is end-to-end reliability. Multi-path routing can be considered as an effective method to support end-to-end reliability. However, the path discovery in current multi-path routing algorithms considering reliability relies mostly on local link availability information at intermediate nodes to perform the route request message forwarding. Selecting a reliable link at an intermediate node solely based on local information may not necessarily lead to finding a satisfactory reliable end-to-end path. To mitigate this problem, in this paper we have proposed an Enhanced Multi-Path Dynamic Source Routing Algorithm (EMP-DSR) which is an enhanced version of MP-DSR. The proposed method uses an ant-colony optimization method to provide global information. The simulation results show that the EMP-DSR outperforms MP-DSR both in finding reliable paths and end-to-end delay with a little tolerable overhead.

BST dielectric loaded helical antenna designed here was found to be as good to operate on WLAN products. Characteristics of the new dielectric material Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) also known as Dielectric Resonator had helped maintained the antenna overall performance in terms of bandwidth, radiation pattern, gain and efficiency. Work done here was modeled and simulated using Computer Simulation technology Microwave Studio (CVST MW) software. The outcome shows good results after analyzing all of the fundamental scattering parameters. The gain obtained is around 6.745dB while attaining nearly 90 percent total efficiency. Its strongest signal is at the horizontal or azimuth position. This antenna could be deployed if another Wireless Local Area Network Access Point (AP) was radiating mostly at the elevation position and need to avoid signal loss when mounted on wall ceilings.
