In this paper a Threshold based Directional Weighted Median (TDWM) Filter for Removal of Random valued Impulse Noises (RVIN) from digital and Infrared Images, has been proposed. This filter works in two phases; at first it detects the impulses, and then replaces the pixels affected with impulses by an estimated value. This filter works efficiently in suppressing impulses from both digital images and infrared images highly corrupted with random valued impulses. Extensive simulations show that proposed filter provides better results than existing filters in suppressing impulses.

Rough set theory is a well established tool for dealing with inconsistent data. The dependencies among the attributes, their significance, and evaluation can easily be performed using intelligent data analysis tool viz., rough set theory. The objective of this article is to modify the existing stock market predictive model based on rough set approach by A.E Hassanien et al. and to construct a data model that would generate fewer number of decision rules. Moreover the results obtained from the proposed data model are compared with well-known software tool Rough set Exploration system 2.2 popularly known as RSES 2.2. It is shown that the proposed model has a higher overall accuracy rate and generates more compact and fewer rules than RSES 2.2. Rough confusion matrix is used to evaluate the predicted classification performances. The effectiveness of this data model is demonstrated on data set consisting of daily movements of a stock traded in Kuwait Stock Exchange spanning over a period of five years.

Handwritten signature is being used in various applications on daily basis. The problem arises when someone decides to imitate our signature and steal our identity. In different area these signature are verified by human being. But the outcomes depend on the ability of the person who performs this verification. Thus, there is a need for an automated system that can, with a great degree of certainty, identify the authorized person. This paper proposes a novel approach of signature verification. Firstly, the given signature is represented by a means of a graph, whose nodes and edges describe certain properties at sample points and relationship between points respectively. Then, graph matching techniques are introduced to compute the similarity of graph for the given signature with the graph information store in the database. This principle can be implemented off-line handwritten signature recognition systems. The system is compared with Global feature approach and gives satisfactory result.

Indian Urban Local Self Governments (ULSGs) are in the dire need to find out a mechanism for allocation of scare resources to fund different expenditures in the absence of proper budgetary and financial control. Grant from upper tiers should be expended as per direction of state or central governments and therefore it is required to find out how own income will be allocated. This study is an effort towards this direction along with a meaningful conclusion through a case study.

This paper examines the impact of eight firm - specific determinants of corporate capital structure or financial leverage - firm size, tangibility, growth opportunities, profitability, non - debt tax shields, operating risk, liquidity and firm age - over the entire conditional distribution of leverage through the application of quantile regression methodology on a balanced panel data related to a selected sample of 76 Indian pharmaceutical companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange over a period of 10 years from 2002-03 to 2011-12. The coefficients of the explanatory variables are estimated at five quantiles, namely, 5th, 25th, 50th, 75th and 95th. The empirical results indicate marked non-linearities in the relationships between leverage and its firm-specific determinants with the estimated regression coefficients of the explanatory variables changing magnitudes and statistical significance accompanied by change of signs (in some cases) at different quantiles. This study, though limited to a particular industry, is primarily an attempt to affirm the existence of non-linearities in capital structure determinants of corporate firms in the Indian scenario.

Xu and Yager (2006) proposed some geometric aggregation operators based on intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFS) and introduced the concept of sub-interval of membership values to define IFS. Based on the sub-interval, they defined various geometric aggregation operators such as intuitionistic fuzzy weighted geometric (IFWG) operator, intuitionistic fuzzy ordered weighted geometric (IFOWG) operator, and intuitionistic fuzzy hybrid geometric (IFHG) operator. In this paper, we propose these geometric aggregation operators (IFWG, IFOWG, and IFHG) based on IFS using the sub-interval of non-membership values. These operators can be used in an environment where the arguments are presented as intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the operators. We also present an algorithm to show the application of the IFHG operator to multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problems based on intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Finally the algorithm has also been illustrated through a numerical example.

The paper presents an application of a new method - Modified Fuzzy Programming Technique(MFTP) for the Fuzzy optimal solution to the Single Objective FuzzyTransportation Problem(SOFTP) with Fuzzy parameters in terms of Triangular Fuzzy Numbers without defuzzifying the problem. Numerical illustrations are solved to show the better results and comparisons are also provided to show the same. The problem is formulated where parameters of cost objective functions, supply and demand are taken as Triangular Fuzzy Numbers. The proposed method is applied for the first time to solve the SOFTP. First, the SOFTP is converted into a Multi-Objective Transportation Problem and then solved by the MFTP.

Most of the developed countries universities have understood the advantages and usage of mobile based learning (m-learning) and have put mobile based learning into practice not only in distance education, but also in regular class room learning process. Developing countries like India, having a huge students presence and a large number of universities, institutions, though gradually shifting towards Information Communication and Technology (ICT) enabled education system, practically has no mobile based learning. Recently Government of India has understood the need and as a part of the agenda has started thinking and encouraging m-learning as tool, an addendum to ICT enabled education system. Keeping in focus on the Government of India initiatives and the need of m-learning in higher education, the paper makes feasibility analysis by making market, technical and economical analysis of m-learning in universities, institutions in India running higher education like engineering and scientific research. The feasibility analysis is added with a survey on 301 students from an Engineering institute, for their acceptance, technical and usability issues of mobile based learning. The survey results shows a positive indication, but, with many issues, to be taken care of.

Employees are the most important factor in the success and failure of any organization. The catering industry is a service industry that sells foods and other things to its guest therefore employees' performance plays a very important role. The hospitality industry in India is running short of good employees and facing a serious threat from other sectors also. The reasons behind this are some of the motivational factors like good remuneration, a work-life balance, better working environment and faster professional growth are providing by other service sectors. Correlation and regression analysis are used for this analysis. This study investigated the role of motivation and its components e.g. compensation, performance evaluation, appraisal, training and development and promotion practices on employee performance in the catering industry under Hospitality organization in Kolkata.
