Electronic and Optical Properties of Sn Doped Hexagonal BN Monolayer: A First-principles Study 锡掺杂六方氮化硼单层的电子和光学性质:第一性原理研究

In this paper, first-principles based density functional theory (DFT) calculation is applied for studying the electronic and optical properties of Tin (Sn) doped hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) monolayer. Two configurations were used for doping Sn atom in hBN monolayer. In the first structure, Boron atom (B) was replaced with Sn atom (sample 1) and in the second structure, Nitrogen (N) atom was replaced by Sn atom (sample 2). Formation energy calculation has been done on both samples and they are energetically favorable. It is observed that Sn atom substitution in hBN layer develops impurity states due to the valance bands pushing up at the Fermi energy (EF) level which results in a semi-metallic hBN monolayer. Some inter-band transitions caused by the impurity states initiate some anomalous trends in the optical properties of hBN monolayer. All the optical properties precisely, absorption coefficient, reflectivity, refractive index, dielectric function and loss function for Sn atom doped hBN structures were investigated using DFT. Pure hBN monolayer has insignificant absorption from 400 to 700 nm visible spectrum. When Sn atom is substituted, a significant value of absorption coefficient is attained in the visible wavelength range plus in the whole solar spectra in both samples. Relatively low static reflectivity is achieved in the visible spectrum because of Sn atom replacement in hBN monolayer. Other optical properties explicitly dielectric functions, refractive index and loss function show comparatively high-values in the visible spectrum.

A Single Phase to Single Phase Step-Down Cycloconverter for Variable Speed Drive Applications 用于变速驱动应用的单相到单相降压环变换器

In industrial community, there is a growing interest of using single-phase cycloconverters for variable speed drive applications. To employ cycloconverter in variable speed drive applications, the harmonic components of cycloconverter output voltage which is always expressed in terms of total harmonic distortion (THD) should be low to ensure good power quality. Different type of switching pulse width modulation techniques is available to compensate the THD, but the complex modulation techniques increase the complexity of gate drive circuit and hardware implementation process. In this paper, a modified single-phase to single-phase mid-point type cycloconverter topology is proposed which significantly reduces the THD of output voltage for one-third and one-four of 50 Hz frequency conversion without using any type of pulse width modulation techniques for switching. The proposed topology offers promising performances in terms of THD and it also lowers the complexity of gate drive circuit compared to existing solutions. To verify the feasibility of the proposed converter, a laboratory prototype is developed besides MATLAB/Simulink simulation.

An Unsupervised Approach for Road Surface Crack Detection 路面裂纹检测的一种无监督方法

Road surface distress is one of the major concerns for safety in transportation management. Surface crack is the initial stage for the structural breakdown of the asphalt pavement which may gradually deteriorate to potholes resulting in huge reforming cost in the later stage. So, detection of road surface cracks needs a good extent of attention for avoiding these inconsistency of transportation sector. Traditional manual inspection usually performed through human visualization which requires huge amount of time. So, in order to automate this inspection, an unsupervised approach has been proposed in order to detect the pavement cracks. Therefore, a method has been proposed to detect the road surface domain on the basis of color histogram analysis of pavement surfaces. K-means clustering algorithm followed by Otsu thresholding has been done for segmentation purpose in order to detect cracks on 2D road surface image. The presented algorithm provides a satisfactory result in case of detecting and localizing the crack of an image. It can effectively remove the noise and preserve edges which is very useful to attain an accuracy of good extent.

Identification of Epileptic Seizure in EEG Signals Using DWT and ANN 应用小波变换和神经网络识别脑电图信号中的癫痫发作

Epileptic seizure is the abnormal electrical activity of EEG signal. As EEG signal is a non-stationary signal, DWT is a powerful tool to interpret such kind of signals both in time and frequency domains. In this study, DWT is performed using the number of mother wavelets to measure their classification performance. Characteristic features extraction from the sub-bands, as a consequence of DWT, plays the key role to classify the signal accurately. A new feature set, consists of four nonlinear statistical features obtained from each subbands, has been fed to the input of ANN. To evaluate the performance of our study a famous publicly available dataset is used. This study is conducted on four classification problems mixture of normal and seizure segments. 100%, 99.33%, 97.33% and 98.4% classification accuracy are achieved for Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4 classification problems, respectively.

A Novel Design of A Dual-Powered Automatic Peltier Effect Cooler 一种新型双动力自动珀耳帖效应冷却器的设计

This paper presents the design of a dual powered automatic Peltier Effect cooler that uses the thermoelectric effect for heat transfer. This device minimizes energy consumption by automatically switching between two available sources, namely the solar source and grid power, based on the availability of the sources. As a result, this device can be used both in remote places where grid power is not available and in places where grid power is available. The switching between the sources is automatic without the need for any human intervention. An MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) charge controller is used to protect the battery from overdrive and to ensure efficient usage of solar power. Two Peltier elements are tactfully mounted in a heat-conductive copper chamber, so the minimum temperature is reached in the quickest possible time during start-up, but during normal operations usually one Peltier is used to maintain the low temperature. To avoid crossing the freezing point, a temperature threshold range has been implemented, below which all the power sources are automatically disconnected and reconnected again when necessary. The effective but simplistic design of this device makes it a good candidate for general usage and mass production.

Smart Glass for Awareness of Important Sound to People with Hearing Disability 智能眼镜让听障人士能够感知重要的声音

People with hearing disability find it difficult to establish a communication specially because most of the communication mediums that people naturally use are vocal. Hearing impaired people sometimes risk their life in cases like busy roads or run by high speed vehicles. Furthermore, they are unable to hear people calling them. Even if they understand that they are being called or they hear any sudden noise, they can't figure out the direction of the sound which is out of their regular vision. Recent technologies can be used to help them. In this paper we propose a smart glass that will enable them to understand any sudden sound by separating the noise using active noise cancellation and recognize the sound by speech recognition, notify that they are being called and provide them the direction of sound using binaural cue. This glass can also be used for old people or people with lower hearing ability. Which can be integrated with modern commercial smart glasses for better performance and lower price.

A micro-electronic system which deals with mixed signal circuits, requires both analog-to-digital converter (A/D) and digital-to-analog converter (D/A). In this project, we focus on wireless biomedical implantable devices where a highperformance ADC interfacing with bio-sensors, pacemaker or many other devices for health caring system is needed to communicate with human body. An extremely high speed is not necessary for such application, but power consumption is a seriously concerned issue. In this paper, we describe a low-power and medium-speed successive approximation register (SAR) ADC. The 6-bit ADC has been designed in 90nm CMOS process and is supplied with 1V. Load forecasting is an indispensable part of power system operation and maintenance. A reliable forecasting results in economically viable dispatch, unit commitment and energy security. Smart power management in generation, transmission and distribution network and corresponding need of energy can be realized with accurate forecasting methods. There are mainly two types of forecasting techniques i.e. statistical and intelligence method. It is not easy to find a suitable forecasting model for a particular power network. As a matter of fact, many developed forecasting methods cannot be fitted in all load demand sequences. In this paper, a short-term load forecasting (STLF) technique based on Artificial Intelligence for power network of Bangladesh has been applied and effect of changing a certain parameter called day lag of data processing is presented.

In these recent innovative advances give the chance to utilize a lot of sight information from video content. Hence, this process can be applied to the recognition and the need to guarantee a short reaction time to detect potential crime and follow the character. In this paper, we try to present an architecture and workflow that empowers multi-modular information accumulation and computerizes the discovery of crime-related activities. We have used the existing surveillance camera set up for the observation of criminal activity and follow the personality. The proposed system will suspects the crime activities in run time from the real-world data.

Efficient Triple Junction Organic Solar Cell 高效三结有机太阳能电池

Organic solar cell draws attention because of its low cost and constantly increasing efficiency. Though having many advantages, low power conversion efficiency hinders organic photovoltaic cells from their commercialization. Tandem solar cells combine two or more single junction cells of complementary absorption band undoubtedly provide an effective means to uplift the efficiency organic solar cells. In this paper, we analyze the performance of three individual single junction organic solar cells. Single junction PCDTBT:PCBM cell shows an efficiency of 6.02% whereas PMDPP3T:PCBM and pBBTDPP2:PCBM shows efficiency of 5.99% and 3.15% respectively. Tandem cell consists of PMDPP3T:PCBM and PCDTBT:PCBM shows 10% efficiency with open-circuit voltage 1.48V and short circuit current density of 10.38 mA/cm2, Using pBBTDPP2:PCBM as a middle layer between them form a triple junction structure that offers an open-circuit voltage of 2.1 V, short circuit current density of 9.4 mA/cm2and power conversion efficiency of 12.25%, which means improved performance over the double junction structure.
