Influence of the base of support widths on postural control and feet loading symmetry during squat – preliminary study 深蹲时支撑底宽度对姿势控制和足部负荷对称性影响的初步研究

Purpose: The symmetry of feet loading and adequate postural control are crucial aspects of proper squat performance. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of various stance widths during squat on postural control and symmetry of feet loading. Methods: Thirty healthy individuals participated in this study. Each participant performed one type of squat with a narrow stance (NS), hip stance (HS) and wide stance (WS). Results: A significantly higher value of CoP path length, the velocity of sways and Area95 were obtained for the WS squat compared to NS and HS. In addition, the wide feet setting significantly affected not only the feet loading symmetry but also the strategy (high LyE), the amount of irregularities (high SampEn) and the CoP time-series roughness complexity (high FD). It has been shown that as the base of support grew, the asymmetry index grew. Conclusions: The wide squat is less stable, requiring more complex postural control behavior and more flexibility. Performing this squat significantly shifts the pressure to the dominant limb.

Influence of cross-linking time on physico-chemical and mechanical properties of bulk poly(glycerol sebacate). 交联时间对散装聚癸二酸甘油物理化学和力学性能的影响。

In the presented study, a PGS prepolymer (pPGS) was synthesized utilizing polycondensation technique (equimolar sebacic acid:glycerol ratio, 130 °C, 24 h). Subsequently, the pPGS was thermally cross-linked in vacuum oven in 130 °C for 84 and 168 h. The cylindrical and dumbbell-shaped samples were subjected for physico-chemical and thorough mechanical analysis including tensile and compressive strength evaluation as well as dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA). The study allowed for the investigation of alteration of PGS properties during cross-linking and decay of elastomeric properties over prolonged cross-linking time. Moreover, a deconvolution in FTIR analysis allowed to glimpse into the hydrogen bonding structure of the materials which weakens during the cross-linking. The obtained results can be utilized during designing PGS-based bulk materials for biomedical application where bearing mechanical loads and tuned chemical character is of vital importance.

Mechanical properties of the porcine pericardium extracellular matrix cross-linked with glutaraldehyde and tannic acid 戊二醛与单宁酸交联的猪心包细胞外基质的力学性能

Purpose The aim of study was to determine the influence of factors such as temperature and glutaraldehyde (GA) concentration on the mechanical properties of porcine pericardia, and to propose the recommended optimal conditions for a cross-linking process. It was also to verify whether tannic acid (TA), a natural cross-linking agent that stabilizes collagenous tissues by different mechanism than GA, may positively influence the strength of pericardium. Methods The samples were incubated at various temperatures (4, 22, and 37°C) and GA concentration solutions (0.6%, 1.5%, 3%) for 7 days. Three series were selected and additionally cross-linked with 0.3% TA for another 7 days. Mechanical properties of cross-linked pericardium samples, i.e. ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and elastic modulus (E), were measured in uniaxial tensile testing. The hyperelastic model for incompressible materials – isotropic by Ogden and anisotropic by Fung was utilized to describe the mechanical behaviour of treated pericardium. Results The temperature has influence on cross-linking effects; the lowest values of UTS were reported for specimens cross-linked at 22°C, while the mechanical properties of series treated at 4°C or 37°C were comparable. At a particular temperature of incubation, the GA concentrations have not affected the mechanical properties of tissues. The dependence between mechanical parameters and agent concentration was only observed for specimens treated with GA at 37°C. Conclusions The conditions of the cross-linking process affect the mechanical properties of the porcine pericardium. Room temperature (22°C) and the concentration of 1.5% GA were ineffective. The mechanical properties of GA-treated pericardium were improved by an additional TA cross-linking.

Effects of age and gender on spatiotemporal and kinematic gait parameters in older adults. 年龄和性别对老年人时空和运动学步态参数的影响。

PURPOSE Gait changes are more prominently observed in older adults than in young adults, especially in kinematics of lower extremities and trunk. These changes can result in incidental falls during gait, possibly leading to inability to perform activities of daily living independently. This study aimed to investigate the effect of gender and age on gait changes, such as spatiotemporal parameters and peak joint angles in lower extremities and trunk during gait. METHODS A total of 387 participants (223 women) were included. The Microsoft Kinect V2 sensor was used to obtain the coordinate data of lower extremities and trunk during gait. The coordinate data obtained were processed using the software. Walking speed, stride length, stride time and cadence were calculated as spatiotemporal variables of walking. Forward trunk tilt angle (FTT), hip flexion and extension, and knee flexion and extension were measured as peak angles during one-gait cycle. Participants were categorized into five groups according to age by five years. Multivariate analysis of variance was performed to compare the spatiotemporal and kinematical data among groups. RESULTS Significant differences among age groups were noted in terms of the walking speed and stride length. Significant differences were also observed in the FTT and hip extension angle. CONCLUSIONS Increased gait changes, increased peak FTT and decreased peak hip extension angle were observed with an increase of age. These altered symptoms may contribute to the screening of older adults at risk of declined physical function at an early stage.

Some aspects related to the indentation-based viscoelastic modelling of trabecular bone tissue 与基于压痕的骨小梁组织粘弹性模型有关的一些方面

Purpose The research aims to verify to what extent the shape of an indenter tip influences the final form of the constitutive equation for the trabecular bone. Methods Trabecular bone was formulated as a non-linear viscoelastic material with Mooney-Rivlin hyperelastic model to describe the purely elastic response of the bone tissue. Tests of the mechanical properties of the trabecular bone, resected from the femoral head of a 56-year-old patient, were carried out with two types of indenter: the spherical tip of a diameter of 200 µm and pyramid Vickers tip with 136º between plane faces. Tests with both indenters included loading and unloading phases with no hold at peak force and with hold time t=20 s and were conducted with a maximum load P_max = 500 mN and loading/unloading rate V = 500 mN/min. Results The formulated constitutive model describes the trabecula behaviour very well. The model curves match the experimental results in the loading phase, holding period and most of the unloading ramp. The purely viscoelastic material constants are very close in value for both considered tips, but purely elastic constants differ. Conclusions The results indicate that the constitutive model based on the indentation with the Vickers tip does not cover the plastic residual deformation. When a viscoelastic response of bone is expected, a model with constants calibrated for the spherical tip should be used, and the other set of parameters values (Vickers tip) when trabeculae may undergo plastic deformation.

Differential evolution and cost-maps for needle path planning in Baker's cyst aspiration. 贝克囊肿抽吸中针路规划的差异进化和成本图。

PURPOSE The Baker's cysts appear within the popliteal fossa along with the progression of degenerative changes. Removal of its contents through aspiration is often a necessary complement to treatment at various stages of the development of gonarthritis. METHODS The paper presented a procedure for needle automatic needle path planning in cyst aspiration in transverse plane. The method was based on optimization and used a custom objective function, which utilized cost maps obtained from preprocessed, segmented images of the knee. The optimization was carried out with Differential Evolution. Furthermore, a preliminary sensitivity analysis was carried out. The obtained paths were compared to the reference paths proposed by an experienced surgeon. RESULTS The procedure was tested on 165 numerical simulations. In all of the obtained paths, the needle successfully avoided crucial objects, such as veins, arteries and nerves. Furthermore, the overall travel distance in the joint was also minimized. When compared to the reference from the surgeon, 90% of the paths were almost the same or only slightly different. Furthermore, the remaining 10% of the generated paths were viable but different. CONCLUSION Based on the obtained results, the proposed solution could be a viable solution for planning the aspiration of Baker's cyst.

METHODS The paper presented a procedure for needle automatic needle path planning in cyst aspiration in transverse plane. The method was based on optimization and used a custom objective function, which utilized cost maps obtained from preprocessed, segmented images of the knee. The optimization was carried out with Differential Evolution. Furthermore, a preliminary sensitivity analysis was carried out. The obtained paths were compared to the reference paths proposed by an experienced surgeon. RESULTS The procedure was tested on 165 numerical simulations. In all of the obtained paths, the needle successfully avoided crucial objects, such as veins, arteries and nerves. Furthermore, the overall travel distance in the joint was also minimized. When compared to the reference from the surgeon, 90% of the paths were almost the same or only slightly different. Furthermore, the remaining 10% of the generated paths were viable but different. Characteristic research of lower extremity injuries in elderly pedestrians during collisions. 碰撞中老年行人下肢损伤的特征研究。

Purpose: The aim of this research is to study the trend of pedestrian lower extremity injuries during vehicle-pedestrian collisions.

Methods: In this study, pedestrian's age, collision angle and pedestrian's position are considered influencing factors. Nine experiments using a novel lower extremity mechanical model are designed with the orthogonal experiment method.

Results: Under the same collision angle, collisions in the left and right positions caused more serious tibia injuries than the middle position. As for the collision angle, the tibial injury at +45° is more significant than the tibial injury at -45°, and the injury of oblique collisions is slightly greater than that at 0°. Moreover, tibial injury is more sensitive to research variables than femoral injury. When the collision angle and position are changed, the difference ratio of tibia stress is by 483.2% higher than that of femur stress. The axial force and bending moment of the quadriceps tendon in the left-position collision reach peak values, which are 3.83 kN and 165.98 Nm, respectively. The peak quadriceps tendon axial force is captured with the collision angle of -45°, and the peak quadriceps tendon bending moment is obtained with a collision angle of +45°.

Conclusions: The effects of differences in impact position and angle on lower extremity injury in the elderly were analyzed, and the results of this study can be used as a reference for research on lower extremity protection.

Purpose: The flexible properties of the bone are essential for the movement and protection of vital organs. The ability of a bone to resist fractures under the influence of large muscles and physical activity depends on its established mechanical properties. This article discusses how exercise such as treadmill running and taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as diclofenac, affect the musculoskeletal system by modifying the elastic and thermal properties of the left femur of a mouse. Methods: The research was conducted using 9-week-old C57BL/6J female mice. In order to investigate the elastic and thermal properties of bones, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were performed. Results: The study of elastic properties, followed by in-depth statistical analysis, shows that taking diclofenac slightly reduces the elastic parameters of the bones under study. These changes are more pronounced in DSC studies, the shift of the observed endothermic peaks is on the order of several degrees with a simultaneous increase in the enthalpy of this process. Conclusions: The opposite effect of the applied factors – diclofenac and running – on the elastic properties of the bones of the examined mice was found. The external factors – running and diclofenac – modify the basic parameters of the endothermic process associated with the release of water.

Compensatory action of the index and middle finger in the kinematic chain of a basketball shot. 篮球投篮运动链中食指和中指的补偿动作。

Performing effective actions requires the basketball player to balance factors such as motor variability, error minimalization and a complex sequence of coordination to determine the best action.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to differentiate the strength of the muscles of the index and middle fingers when performing a basketball shot.

Materials and methods: Study group consisted of 122 male college basketball league students. The study included psychophysiological tests to determine indices of individual and typological characterictics s of higher nervous activity, proprioceptive sensitivity tests of the fingers of the leading hand and field tests to assess participants' shooting skills. The touch-based finger pressure sensing system measured the different levels of pressure exerted by the participants' main index and middle finger during grasping.

Results: For both the middle and index finger, the highest correlation with shot efficiency was found for a 120 g load g (p < 0.01 for 2PS; 2PS40 suc; FT; 3PSO and 3.5 mS). Furthermore, high reproducibility of proprioceptive sensitivity of the index and middle finger of the leading hand was found in basketball players.

Conclusions: The research indicates that it is possible to organize compensatory behavior between joints on the basis of proprioception, with the last compensatory movements of the kinematic chain being performed by the fingers of the hand. The demonstrated high proprioceptive sensitivity of the index and middle finger of the leading hand in basketball players at a weekly interval may indicate ability to maintain high repeatability of movements controlled by these fingers.

Investigation of lower limb injury under different contact stiffness for drivers during frontal crash. 正面碰撞时不同接触刚度对驾驶员下肢伤害的调查。

Lower extremity injuries in AIS2+ were the most costly injuries through the statistic analysis of traffic accidents. This study aimed to investigate the response characteristics of the lower limb with different contact stiffness, in which knee cushion and foot cushion were applied. First, a model with a human body and a car was established, and the muscle function was activated in lower extremity of human model. Second, the deceleration pulse with a peak of 186 m/s2 was applied to the car to simulate the frontal crash. Then, four sets of simulations with different contact stiffness are conducted to obtain the lower limb responses. Results indicate that the maximum loading of the left and right legs during the impact wes 1.29 and 1.22 kN, respectively. Meanwhile, the maximum moment were 28.82 and 52.17 Nm, respectively. The maximum stress of lower extremity was 87.35 MPa, and the maximum tibia index was 0.230. It was demonstrated that the injury risk of the femur in the groups with equipment of knee cushion and foot cushion was low, but the injury risk of the tibia increased at the same time. This study could provide a reference to the study of lower limb injury in a frontal impact.
