'Boswellia serrata' resin isolates: Chemical composition and pharmacological activities “锯齿波士韦利亚”树脂分离物:化学成分和药理活性

Frankincense is an aromatic resin obtained from a tree of various species of the genus Boswellia, family Burseraceae. Boswellia serrata, which is characteristic for the Indian subcontinent and whose pharmacological effects have been proven in numerous studies, has the greatest medical importance. The aim of this paper is a detailed literature review of the chemical composition and biological activity of Indian frankincense resin isolates (B. serrata). In vitro studies and numerous clinical trials have shown promising beneficial effects in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease (ileitis), Crohn's disease and asthma, as well as in the reduction of peritumoral edema. The resin obtained from B. serrata which has both religious and medical significance is today widely used in the cosmetics industry due to its high content of essential oil.

The present study aimed to determine the chemical composition and antioxidant activity of immortelle (Helichrysum italicum (Roth) G. Don) and yarrow (Achillea millefolium L.) essential oils isolated from the aerial plant parts on a semi-industrial scale by steam and water-steam distillation, respectively. The qualitative composition of the essential oils obtained was determined by GC/MS and their quantitative composition by GC/FID method. Their antioxidant activity was estimated by using DPPH, ABTS and FRAP assays. The most abundant components in the immortelle essential oil were a-pinene (22.4%), g-curcumene (13.2%), neryl acetate (9.8%) and b-selinene (8.7%), while yarrow essential oil contained 1,8-cin-eole (25.5%), CIS-thujone (10.8%), camphor (7.3%) and artemisia ketone (6.9%) in the highest percentage. According to the EC 50 values yarrow essential oil showed better radical (DPPH and ABTS) scavenging activity than immortelle essential oil (7.71 mg/cm 3 vs. 8.94 mg/cm 3 after 20 minutes of incubation with DPPH radical ; and 26.03 mg/cm 3 vs. 88.52 mg/cm 3 after 24 minutes incubation with ABTS radical, respectively). On the other hand, immortelle essential oil showed better ferric ion reducing power (7.16 mgEFe2+/g vs. 5.72 mgEFe2+/g essential oil) in comparison to yarrow essential oil. However, the results obtained indicated a low antioxidant activity of both essential oils studied.

Grinding of Serbian peppermint ('Mentha' × 'piperita L.') leaves: Variations regarding yield, composition and antimicrobial activity of isolated essential oil 塞尔维亚薄荷('Mentha' × 'piperita L.')叶子的研磨:分离精油的产量、成分和抗菌活性的变化

This paper aimed to estimate the influence of peppermint (Mentha × piperita L.) leaves grinding on the essential oil (PEO) yield, composition, antibacterial and antifungal activities. Besides positively affecting the yield, grinding provided PEO with 44 compounds, compared to 33 compounds isolated from non-ground leaves. The most abundant compounds in both PEOs were menthol and menthone. PEO isolated from the ground leaves expressed higher antibacterial and antifungal activities , with S. aureus and C. albicans being the most susceptible microorganisms. According to these results, PEO from ground leaves has the potential to be used in food industry and packaging, production of nutraceuticals, natural pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

There is a growing interest in the world for environmental protection, climate change mitigation, energy security, and sustainability of production and energy capacities of innovative renewable energy sources Increasing industrial activity has caused air pollution due to projected particles of pollutants. There are global concerns about the increased CO2 emissions and risks to human health and sustainable development. The paper aims to apply technologies that reduce the use of fossil fuels and CO2 emissions as much as possible. Green environmental technology is relevant worldwide because it contributes to the decarbonization and development of new technologies in the energy sector and enterprises. The purpose of the paper is to point out to decision-makers an innovative approach to the use of new technologies, which would indicate the future directions of green sustainable development. By applying different methods in the paper, it is concluded that all countries have to introduce modern technologies and innovative energy development, not only improve the quality of life of all citizens of Serbia but also of all inhabitants of the planet.

Analysis of the influence of pre-treatment with liquid hot water (LHW) on the chemical composition of wooden chips 液体热水预处理对木屑化学成分的影响分析

The goal of this paper is to analyze the chemical composition of untreated and treated wooden chips from the native narrow-leaved ash (Fraxinus angustifolia Vahl. ssp. Pannonica Soó & Simon). In order to determine the effect of pretreatment with liquid hot water (LHW) on changes in chemical composition, the content of moisture, cellulose, lignin, minerals (ash), extractives soluble in hot water, extractives soluble in organic solvents, for treated and for untreated wooden chips was determined. This was done in accordance with TAPPI and ASTM standard methods. The properties of wooden chips, treated for 30 min and 60 min at a temperature of 100 °C, are compared to untreated wooden chips and changes in the chemical composition that occurred are defined as a result of the applied treatments. The research was performed under controlled conditions in a laboratory, and the results of treatments were the subject of comparative analysis. Applied treatments had a statistically significant effect on decreasing the content of extractives. The content of cellulose and hemicellulose increased in the treated wooden chips compared to untreated wooden chips, while the lignin content did not significantly change.

The latest trend in textile industry promotes products with added value that provide additional comfort to users and have a focus on health in terms of use. In that sense, biofunctional and intelligent textile products with different types of applications for improving the lifestyle of the modern consumer stand out. Cosmetic textile is a high-performance textile which represents a fusion of textile material with cosmetics. The main challenges in the manufacture of such products are the selection of products with a cosmetic effect for a particular purpose, storage of agents in the structure of the textile, the rate of release of the agent on the skin and the stability of the agent to the maintenance procedures of textiles and clothing. This paper provides an overview of cosmetic agents for application on textiles, methods of their storage and release and the techniques applicable on textile. Finally, a range of commercially available cosmetic textile products is presented.

Triple quadrupole vs ion trap sensitivity in a multiresidue pesticides analysis in selected fruit and vegetables 三联四极杆与离子阱在果蔬多残留农药分析中的敏感性比较

Mass spectrometry stands for highly selective and sensitive instrumental technique ; therefore, it has many applications in various scientific fields. Sensitivity is usually defined as the change in measured signal per unit change in analyte concentration. Several factors such as the effective sample preparation, mobile phase composition, chromatographic column parameters and mass spectrometer features can affect this parameter. By keeping rest of the parameters the same, the effect of mass spectrometer features on the sensitivity of multi-residue pesticides analysis was investigated. Linear ion trap and triple quadrupole, as the two most exploited mass analyzers, were compared. The comparison of sensitivity for solvent-based and QuEChERS treated fruit-and vegetable-based pesticides standards demonstrated triple quadrupole as a highly sensitive instrument. The analysis of solvent-based standards on the triple quadrupole was from 4 to 71 times more sensitive than the analysis on the linear ion trap. Sensitivity enhancement for lemon-based standards ranged from 15 to 138 times, and for vegetable-based standards (tomato, lettuce, cucumber) it ranged from about 5 to about 70 times, when shifting from linear ion trap to triple quadrupole. Sensitivity comparison for solvent-and sample-based standards majorly evidenced the presence of a strong matrix effect, thus reflecting the need to perform analytes quantification against sample-based standards in an actual sample analysis.

Thermography is a widely used method of measuring surface temperature and its distribution. It is based on the measurement of the radiation intensity in the infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Infrared thermography is applicable in all spheres of human activity because it broadens the world's view and irreversibly changes the notion of space that surrounds us. One of the important issues in professional sports is maintaining the optimal level of comfort during intense sports activities. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the possibilities of the application of thermography for testing the properties related to the comfort of athletes focusing on the transfer of liquid (sweat) through the materials intended for making sportswear. Moreover, the accent is given to the comparison of non-aged materials, and materials aged applying different protocols characteristic for football sportswear.

Composites are multiphase materials consisting of two or more different materials with different properties that are firmly bound to each other on the surface. As new nanomaterials, graphene and graphene oxide are particularly interesting due to their ability to form composites and nanocomposites with hydrogels. Graphene has attracted a lot of attention. Hydrogels are materials that have a three-dimensional structure, capable of absorbing a large amount of surrounding fluid without dissolving. Stimuli-sensitive hydrogels can change a physical property in response to external stimuli. Hydrogels based on monomers such as N, N-diethylacrylamide, and N-(2-hydroxyethyl) acrylamide exhibit great scientific and technological importance. They have found application in the paint and varnish industry, the pharmaceutical , cosmetic, food industry, agro-industry, and textile industries. Previous research has proven that graphene significantly boosts the electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties of hydrogels. Hydrogelcomposites with graphene have a porous structure. The paper represents a literature overview of methods for the synthesis and characterization of synthesized hydrogels and hydrogel composites with graphene and graphene oxide.

The valorization of plum seed oil for the development of topical formulation 李子油在外用制剂开发中的应用价值

The object of this paper was to utilize the plum seed oil for the preparation of the topical formulation for skin care since it can improve elasticity and prevent accelerated skin aging. Soxhlet extraction of plum seed oil was performed using n-hep-tane. The spectrophotometric methods were applied to estimate the photoprotec-tive effect and antioxidant activity of the samples. The warm-warm emulsification process was used for the preparation of topical formulation based on plum seed oil. The antioxidant activity of the plum seed oil was estimated based on the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (9.39 mg/mL). After the incorporation of the oil in the topical formulation, the IC 50 value of 9.33 mg/mL was not significantly changed. The viscosities of the topical formulation and plum seed oil were 1.56×10 6 mPa·s (at the shear rate of 5 s-1) and 60.48 mPa·s (at the shear rate of 50 s-1), respectively. Rheological analysis showed that the plum seed oil and topical formulation were Newtonian and non-Newtonian pseudoplastic fluids, respectively. The formulation adsorbed the light in the UV-Vis range so that it can be used as a w/o emulsion photoprotective cream. The cream with adequate pH value was stable and micro-biologically safe for application to the skin. Due to the use of cheaper ingredients, the formulation is acceptable and suitable for manufacturing.
