We report the clinical and computed tomography findings in two patients with small mesencephalic hematomas. Both patients presented with unilateral oculomotor paralysis and minor associated neurological symptoms. One patient had pupillary involvement suggestive o f a peripheral third nerve lesion. Computed tomography evaluation disclosed small unilateral anterior mesencephalic hematomas involving the oculomotor fascicle. Angiography in both cases and surgery in the first case disclosed no evidence of an arteriovenous malformation or neoplasm. Both patients showed significant clinical improvement within 3 months.

Primary squamous cell carcinoma is a rare form of carcinoma of the breast. This article reports on two such lesions with their appearance in magnetic resonance imaging and reviews the scant English literature of the past 10 years. Most of these tumors are circumscribed and have areas of necrosis. The prognosis in patients with this disease is the same as that of adenocarcinoma of the same size and stage.

Three cases of pulmonary sequestration evaluated by bolus dynamic computed tomography are described. The computed tomography appearance and the differential diagnosis are discussed. It is important to recognize the advantages of the bolus dynamic technique in the evaluation of pulmonary sequestration as it may eliminate the need for further studies.

Merkel cell carcinoma is a rare malignant neoplasm of the skin which is locally invasive and frequently metastasizes to lymph nodes, liver, lungs, bone, and brain. Computed tomographic and pathologic findings in an elderly woman with Merkel cell carcinoma of the buttock and regional nodal metastasis are reported. The presence of calcitonin and neuron-specific enolase within the tumor supports the theory that Merkel cell carcinoma is a neuroendocrine tumor derived from the APUD (amine precursor uptake and decarboxylase) system.

Since 1955, urinary tract opacification secondary to absorption of orally or rectally administered iodinated contrast material has been recognized. Previously reported cases have involved relatively large volumes of full strength contrast necessary for fluoroscopic examination of the gastrointestinal tract. Our purpose is to report a case of urinary tract opacification in a patient who received a small amount of oral contrast in a dilute solution as preparation for computed tomography examination.
