The authors described a case of viral stomatitis of the type of hand, foot and mouth disease with mucosal and skin manifestations in an adult with a significant rise of neutralizing antibodies against the Coxsackie B4 virus.

The development of the use of ceramic materials in stomatology has a long history. Their composition and processing should present in particular improve their strength and accuracy, while preserving excellent biocompatibility and satisfactory aesthetic appearance. Ceramic materials are increasingly used in fixed prosthetic appliances. The author summarizes hitherto assembled findings and outlines the trends of future development.

Based on data in the literature and their own experience the authors summarize eleven imaging systems using ionizing energy and fifteen non-X-ray techniques from the aspect of the dental surgeon. Perspective methods include CT, DSA, xeroradiography, electrography in addition to classical X-ray techniques incl. intervention radiodiagnosis. As to non-X-ray techniques sonography (echography, USG), thermography and magnetic resonance prove useful.

The author describes the social and medical situation in the Libyan Arab Peoples Socialist Djamahiriji. He presents an epidemialogical study of the prevalence of some malocclusions. The authors divide psychotherapeutis procedures and method influencing the patient's behavior during dental treatment into preventive methods and those facilitating treatment and making treatment possible. At the same time they evaluate their effectiveness in a group of 269 "untreatable patients" with a different intellectual level. They found that these methods were successful in almost half the patients when treating preschool and primary school children.

Water forms a substantial part of aerosol particles formed during preparation with turbin equipment. The authors assessed therefore before aerobiological examination of the atmosphere of the dental surgery which will be the subject of part III whether the water used for cooling of dental sets is contanined by pathogenic bacteria. Microbiological examination of water specimens of the cooling system of four dental sets of two types revealed only the presence of Baccilus subtilis and Gram-negative rods. The results of aerobic cultivation of all 48 water specimens were identical. The authors did not find a difference between water samples at the beginning and at the end of working hours nor between specimens collected on different days. The measurements were made as part of a student contest and the results were presented at a student conference at the Faculty of General Medicine, Charles University Prague and in a nation-wide contest in Kosice.

The quality of treatment of dental defects with amalgam is closely associated with the preparation of the cavity and its filling as well as with completion of the filling and its finish. Strict adherence of a correct working procedure improves markedly the standard of treatment and makes it possible to make use of the positive properties of amalgam from which the filling is prepared.

The author used as a basis Jarabak's classification class III. She assessed the skeletal parameters which are important for elaboration of the therapeutic plan, for assessment of therapeutic possibilities by means of a removable device or the necessity of treatment by means of a fixed device. During analysis of the teleroentgenogram she considers it most important for the treatment by means of removable devices to assess in addition to the extent of the defect the following parameters: 1. the angle of the sella 2. the length of the body of the lower jaw 3. the inclination of the upper incisors 4. the inclination of the lower incisors
