Canine cutaneous histiocytoma. A light and electron microscopic study. 犬皮肤组织细胞瘤。光镜和电子显微镜研究

Cutaneous histiocytomas from 4 dogs were examined by light and electron microscopy. A large (up to 10μ in diameter) mononuclear cell with prominent filiform processes of the plasma membrane predominated. Its cytoplasm contained relatively small amounts of endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria, only occasional lysosomes, fibrils, most obvious in the perinuclear region, and small amounts of cytoplasmic debris. Acid phosphatase was not detected. Fibroblasts and collagen formed a small part of the lesion, except at the junction with surrounding dermis, where fibers were plentiful. The morphologic features of the lesion are compatible with the suggestion that the predominant cell is of histiocytic type.

A neuropathy in goats caused by experimental coyotillo (Karwinskia humboldtiana) poisoning. 3. Distribution of lesions in peripheral nerves. 山羊的一种神经病变,由实验性郊狼(Karwinskia humboldtiana)中毒引起。3.周围神经病变的分布。

Seven goats were poisoned with daily oral doses of coyotillo fruits and killed at various times after day 12. The distribution of lesions was studied in a sensory nerve, in short and long motor nerves, and at proximal and distal sites of a long motor nerve. Fibers with Schwann-cell lesions (swollen Schwann cells or segmental demyelination) were widespread and outnumbered fibers with Wallerian degeneration in most sites. The percentage of fibers that were undergoing Wallerian degeneration was much greater in long motor nerves than in short ones and was much greater at a distal site of a long motor nerve than at a proximal site. The results were compatible with axonal injury being secondary to Schwann-cell injury and cumulative throughout the lengths of affected fibers, resulting in distal axonal degeneration.

Twenty-two goats were poisoned with daily oral doses of ground coyotillo fruits and were killed at various times after the first day of dosing. The morphologic features and distribution of lesions in the central nervous system were studied by light microscopy. An axonal dystrophy occurred in several of the goats given high daily doses. Swellings occurred along axons of Purkinje cells in the cerebellum and in the white matter of the spinal cord. There was a fairly close correlation between the occurrence of clinical signs suggestive of the neocerebellar syndrome and the occurrence and distribution of lesions in the cerebellum.

Origin of the aorta and pulmonary trunk from the right ventricle in a horse. 马的主动脉和肺动脉干起源于右心室。

A Vitums
A malformation of the heart and great vessels, in which the aorta and the pulmonary trunk originated from the right ventricle, has been reported in a 1 1/2 year-old horse. It is suggested that the oxygenated blood from the left ventricle was ejected through a large septal defect into the right ventricle where partial mixture of the blood took place. The function of the right ventricle was to pump the blood into the aorta and the pulmonary trunk. The muscular ridge, which was interposed between the aorta and the pulmonary trunk, might have directed a portion of the predominately oxygenated blood into the aorta and a portion of the predominately venous blood into the pulmonary trunk.

Ultrastructural nature of canine distemper inclusions in the urinary bladder. 膀胱犬瘟热包涵体的超微结构性质。
Pub Date : 1970-01-01 DOI: 10.1177/030098587000700404
W R Richter, S M Moize
The ultrastructural nature of canine distemper inclusions was studied in the bladder epithelium of 4 dogs. These tissues were compared to 5 control animals. The classical intracytoplasmic inclusion consists of filaments or tubules which are helices of ribonuclcoprotein of the virus. A second type of inclusion is described and occurs in control and infected dogs. The heterogeneous dense body is not related to canine distemper infection.

Histological examinations of the Lnn. cervicales superficiales and subilici in red deer infested with subcutaneous filariae (Wehrdikmansia cervipedis and Onchocerca flexuosa) revealed microfilariae in several of these nodes. These were located in the sinuses (mainly the marginal), septa, trabeculae, and frequently close to blood vessels or in their wall. These microfilariae evoked a chronic sclerosing lymphadenitis; in one instance there was thrombo-lymphadenitis of an afferent lymphatic vessel. No significant difference was found in the reaction of the nodes to infection by W. cervipedis and to a mixed invasion of W. cervipedis and O. flexuosa.

Nephropathy and edema syndrome induced in miniature swine by corn cultures of Penicillium viridicatum. 玉米青霉菌培养引起的小型猪肾病和水肿综合征。

Nephropathy and a syndrome of edema were produced in miniature swine by cultures of Penicillium viridicatum grown on autoclaved corn. The dried and ground cultures were mixed at a 50% concentration with a commercial pig feed. After a few days of feeding, the pigs became depressed, developed anorexia, posterior paresis, elevated blood urea nitrogen levels, proteinuria, and glycosuria. Gross lesions included subcutaneous edema, ascites, hydrothorax, hydropericardium, and mesenteric edema. Perirenal edema with accumulation of variable amounts of bloody fluid between renal capsule and parenchyma was a remarkable feature of the toxicosis. Microscopic lesions included edema of various tissues and degenerative changes in the kidney.
