Authors reviewed the results of healing of 41 patients, operated with herniated disc, in whom the herniated disc was removed with the help of microscope. The clinical results are analysed in details and compared with the literary data. The indication of microdiscectomy, its execution and the postoperative tasks are also discussed.

Effect of free and forced remobilization on the mineral content and distribution of the mineral content in the formerly immobilized bones of the extremities was examined. Authors performed after plaster immobilization free and forced (on production line) remobilization in rats. After the 3 weeks immobilization and the following 8 weeks remobilization the mineral content of the bones of the extremities, formerly in plaster, and the density of the mineral did not reach the parameters of the bones of the free extremities.

A rare case of familial slipped capital femoral epiphysis is discussed. Of total five siblings four were affected. All the cases, except one boy, were treated in the Orthopaedic Department of the Medical University Pécs. The fourth affected child was treated conservatively because of the consecutive osteoarthritis, the other three were treated operatively. The literature is reviewed. The possible etiological factors are discussed emphasizing the role of heredity and it can be concluded that the endocrine constitution predisposing to epiphyseolysis be hereditary.

Authors treated 34 patients from 1989 to 1992 with restricted knee movements in the Department of Sport Medicine. The average age of the patients was 32 years, the youngest was 16 and the eldest was 54 years old, and the female male ratio was 14/20. 71% of the patients had some kind of ligament surgery in the past. Arthrolysis was performed in 24 cases. 13 cases out of 24 was performed arthroscopically and the rest was done following arthrotomy. Manipulation under anaesthesia was satisfactory in 5 cases, 4 patients had combined treatment and 1 had extraarticular intervention only. The range of motion was 0-11-81 degrees to start with, and it has improved up to 0-2-124 degrees in average 13 month time following the arthrolysis. There was correlation between the restriction and between the time of primary ligament reconstruction, the sex and the age of the patients. To perform the arthrolysis in time is important and the physiotherapist and the constant passive motion is inevitable.

Cefuroxim treatment as antibiotic prophylaxis was used in the operative treatment of the scoliosis. It was found that this antibiotic was an effective drug. There was't any postoperative suppuration and no side effect of the Cefuroxim was registered.

Authors report on experiences gained with the treatment of 22 cases of osteomyelitis of the fibula in the 17 years material of their Department. It is stated that the fibula osteomyelitis has to be treated first of all with operation and the end results of the treatment are good. In this, the anatomical situation which enables the resection and removal of the proximal part of this bone without more ado has a role. The more frequent occurrence of the disease on the right fibula in their material is an accidental finding.

Authors report on the treatment of 20 chronic osteomyelitis patients in whom direct antibiotic therapy was performed using the preparation Péflacine. The infected area was exposed in every case, the bony focus was excised and the wound was drained. During the operation, as an induction 800 mg Péflacine in slow drop infusion was given. Oral preparation (2 x 400 mg/die) followed, and was continued for 30 days. The secretion of the wounds ceased in every case, after 3 weeks the latest. In 2 cases mild gastrointestinal symptoms as side effects were observed. Relapse the first time occurred 5-7 months after ending the treatment in 3 patients. These were again explored and after the excision more thorough than before the secretion ceased. According their experience and in conformity with the literature the Péflacine is held an effective medicament in the treatment of the acute exacerbation of chronic osteomyelitis, together with the excision of the focus.

Authors describe the results of the partial selective denervation from radio-volar exposure of the wrist, simultaneously with the osteosynthesis of the pseudoarthrosis of the scaphoid with Ender plates. After a 1-8 years follow up, 3/4 of the patients whose scaphoid pseudoarthrosis was 6.5 years old in average, and had at the operation middle or severe arthrosis of the wrist became symptomless or had only mild symptoms. It is stated that the denervation may be a good supplement of the scaphoid pseudoarthrosis operations and of sanative character performed in the arthrotic stage already.
