This article examines the forms of social evaluation of writers' work in modern Russia. As a methodological basis, the theory of the “literary field” developed by Pierre Bourdieu and his followers is used, on the basis of which a conceptual and empirical reconstruction of the concepts of social status and reputation was carried out. Based on an empirical thematic analysis of public interviews with leading Russian experts in the field of literary process, a set of topics regarding the social status of the writer and his literary reputation in the Russian literary field has been identified. A discrepancy in the opinions of various groups of experts was found, which may indicate the presence of antagonism in the modern literary field. This circumstance, coupled with the dependent state of the literary field on the political one, confirms the hypothesis of the marginalization of these concepts and, accordingly, related social practices in modern Russia.

The review of the HSE Youth Research Center conference demonstrates the actualization of youth research in the context of intergenerational transfers in modern Russia. The following issues have become particularly relevant: how young people comprehend reality, how their identity is formed; what are the new forms of youth activity and specific lifestyles. The focus is on the issues of patriotism, attitude to the state, trust in government institutions, youth migration, as well as employment. A diverse palette of studies using mainly qualitative methodology is demonstrated.

M. Kotelnikov
The main purpose of the article is to track and analyze the correlation of technical and semantic aspects of anonymous interaction on the web. The initial phase of communication between two interlocutors in the “Anonymous VKontakte chat” is empirically investigated. Combining the conceptual and methodological resources of conversational analysis and membership categorization analysis, as well as the theory of affordances adapted to technical objects (in this case, anonymous chat), the author defends the concept of the order of statements of anonymous interlocutors for successful interaction. Most visitors use the chat to search for short-term romantic and/or sexual communication, therefore, at the beginning of the correspondence, the interlocutors often seek to identify each other's gender identity using typical statements. The importance of having the first row is noted, since it is he who, with a high degree of probability, gives the priority right to ask a question about the gender identity of the interlocutor. However, this right does not negate the fact that sooner or later (rather sooner) the owner of the first turn will have to answer the questions of the interlocutor, so the anonymous interaction under consideration, through the communicative efforts of actors organized in the next order, tends to information symmetry.

The article is devoted to the study of the memory of the 1990s in Russia. The main purpose is to determine the significance of television documentary films, namely the television project “Namedni”, in the process of shaping the memory of Russians about the initial stage of post-Soviet Russia. The episodes of the program “Namedni”, devoted to the period from 1990 to 1999, have been analyzed. The qualitative content analysis of the series was conducted on the basis of the thematic categories: politics, social sphere, economy, culture (sports) and the subject criteria: story title, content, timing, personalities and key details, as well as the organization of the story. The predominantly negative perception of the period of the “nineties” in Russia is not confirmed in the episodes of the program “Namedni”. Political and economic themes predominate in most of the episodes, and the 1990s are presented as an optimistic “era of change”, symbolizing a fleeting transition from the old to a potentially positive and bright new. The ambiguity of the positive image of the 1990s is determined by the low attention of the authors of the program to the events of the regional scale, most of the subjects refer to either global or the capital city events of the past.

The article provides a brief overview on interview as a method for studying the opinions of children, their life experience, and emotional experiences. The analysis of the method is based on the principles of the new sociology of childhood: equal communication, agency of children, involvement in decision-making concerning the lives of children. A definition of methodological inclusion is given as a mechanism for adapting a method to the characteristics of a social group. The following aspects of the children’ interviewing are identified and described: in-depth study of the interview script, taking into account the characteristics of age and the inclusion of elements of gamification and projective techniques in the interview script, selection of the best interview venue, selection of interviewers and more thorough briefing due to their age, dynamic interviewing with switching activities, flexibility in conducting interviews in accordance with the individual characteristics and development of the child, contact with a parent or other responsible person before and after the interview.

The author challenges the widely held belief that qualitative surveys (in-depth interviews and focus groups) will never be considered as a representative study. The origins of this erroneous, according to the author, point of view is an incorrect transfer of criteria for the representativeness of quantitative studies to qualitative ones. The article formulates a mathematical statement the task of determining a representative sample of qualitative surveys. The article provides the solution of the task taking into account relevant constraints. It is shown that under certain conditions representative sample of qualitatively study may be 15–40 respondents, which corresponds to research practice based on empirical criteria for sufficiency.
