ÖZ Objective: Thymus have 341 species in the world and 46 species in Türkiye, 19 of them are endemic. Thymus species are used for stomachache, cold, shortness of breath, cough, bronchitis, diabetes in Aladağlar (Niğde). In this study, essential oil (EO) analysis of Thymus brachychilus , liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) analysis of ethanol extract, and its effects on the cell lines mentioned in the title were investigated for the first time. ÖZ Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate quality of life, functional status and pain in elderly patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods: The sample of this study consisted of 229 outpatients followed up in the rheumatology department of a hospital with a diagnosis of RA and those over 65 years old who were treated in the internal medicine clinic of the same hospital. Research data were collected using a Personal Introduction Form, the Disease Activity score 28 (DAS-28), the Numerical Pain Assessment Scale, the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) and the SF-36 Quality of Life scale. Results: The physical conditions of the non-RA elderly individuals were statistically worse compared to those with RA (p=0.01). There was a significant negative correlation between patient age and visual analog score, physical function, physical role limitations, emotional role limitations and social functionality subscale scores, and a significant positive correlation between age and HAQ scores (p<0.05). Conclusion: In the study, elderly patients with RA had fewer physical limitations in daily activities and their severity of pain was not different than that of adult patients with RA. The physical and social functionality of the elderly who had received treatment due to a chronic disease other than RA had lower physical and social functionality, but their quality of life was better.

ÖZ Objective: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is common among young female university students. Determining students’ PMS experience and coping levels with them can contribute to the development of effective strategies. This research was carried out to determine the premenstrual symptoms, coping experiences of the students with them and coping levels of the students experiencing PMS. Methods: This research is in a mixed method design that includes quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. The number of participants was 436 students. Quantitative data of the study were collected through an introductory information form, premenstrual coping measure (PCM), and qualitative data were collected through individual interviews using a semi-structured form. Results: The mean age of the participants was 20.65±1.68, mean age at menarche was 12.96±1.22. The rate of students experiencing PMS frequently was 41.1%, the rate of those who had regular menstruation was 73.9%, and the rate of those with dysmenorrhea was 90.3%. The most common symptoms were anxiety (73.4%), fatigue (72.3%), breast tenderness (71.1%), appetite changes (70.6%). The students' coping skills with PMS were at a good level. The highest PCM sub-dimension score was in the self-care (14.82±3.81) and awareness and acceptance of premenstrual change (34.49±7

ÖZ Objective: This study was performed to compare the effectiveness of anti-coagulation with ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) and citrate on mean platelet volume (MPV) measurement. Methods: EDTA and citrate-based anti-coagulant blood samples from the same patients were read in the auto-analyzer at 0, 30, 60, and 120 minutes after sampling and the results were compared. Results: A total of 54 patients, 29 of whom were women, over the age of 18 were included in the study. Baseline blood MPV values were found to be 0.524 fL greater in the EDTA-based group (p<0.001). When the difference between the time periods in the EDTA group was examined, it was observed that there was a significant increase in deltaMPV values in each 30-minute time period. When the difference between the time periods in the citrate-based group was examined, there was a significant difference at the 30 th and 60 th minutes (p<0.001), however the difference disappeared at the second hour (p>0.05). When the deltaMPV values of the EDTA and Citrate groups were compared, it was found that there was no difference at 30 and 60 minutes (p=0

ÖZ Objective: The differentiation between benign and non-benign thyroid nodules is a complex problem to solve in clinical practice. We aimed to observe and describe the role of shear-wave elastography (SWE) to distinct benign and non-benign thyroid nodules before a fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB). Methods: Ninety-seven patients were prospectively included in the study from March 2019 to January 2020. Patients with a history of thyroid infections, surgery or trauma of thyroid tissue, autoimmune diseases associated with thyroid gland, non-diagnostic histopathology (Bethesda I) were excluded from the study. Thyroid imaging reporting and data system (TI-RADS) based on the 2017 American College of Radiology (ACR) was used for the radiological classification of nodules. Patients’ age, number of thyroid nodules, SWE value of nodules, and TI-RADS categories were compared to pathological classification. Results: The mean age of patients was 49.80±11.42 years. Benign thyroid nodules were classified as “Group 1” (G1) (n=79) and non-benign thyroid
