Atypical Origin of the Saphenous Nerve and a Variation of the Right Iliacus Muscle: A Case Report. 隐神经的非典型起源和右侧髂骨肌的变异:一例报告。

During a routine cadaveric dissection of the posterior abdominal wall, variations of the bilateral lumbar plexus and a variant saphenous nerve originating in the lower abdomen were noted and documented. The description of a saphenous nerve originating at the level of the lumbar plexus is, to the best of our knowledge, the first of its kind. Further study revealed more variations at the root of the lumbar plexus and bilateral branching patterns. A variant iliacus muscle entrapping the superior portion of the femoral nerve was also observed on the right side within the abdominal cavity. These variations are discussed in the context of risk of clinical intervention in this anatomical region..

Clinical Application in the Repair of Defects Following Hypopharyngeal Carcinomare Section 下咽癌切除术后缺损修复的临床应用

We gathered wet examples of new cadaveric heads from the Han Chinese adult population for applied life systems of the submental island fold, and followed five patients with pyriform sinus carcinoma after recreation medical procedure utilizing submental island flaps. We tracked down that the normal length and width of the submental island folds were (65.2011.69) mm and (46.706.59) mm, individually. The skin fold in each of the five patients survived after medical procedure, and tracheal cylinders and gastric cylinders were taken out 7-36 days after sur-gery. Patients were followed up for 24 to 42 months, pharyngeal folds developed well, and speechand gulping capacities were good.

Anatomical variation of the brachial artery and its clinical implications 肱动脉的解剖变异及其临床意义

The body has an elaborate level of complicated vasculature, regarding location, branching & relations to vital structures, as these issues have great influences on clinical applications utilizing intervention radiology and surgical interference. The upper arm alone presents with vasculature that is frequently textbook, but also gives chances for further exploration in a cadaver study to learn more about the variation in vasculature. The brachial artery, which is the main arterial supply of the upper arm, is in question, and will be discussed in grave detail. By learning about its embryological growth, we hope to understand the variation of the artery. This presentation specifically discusses the higher division of the brachial artery, and its clinical importance. Understanding the development of the brachial artery will help to give medical providers who work on cases such as intervention radiology procedures a more precise framework to work effectively in so that no unneeded damage will come to the patient.

Clinical Impact of Rare Aortic Arch Variant 罕见主动脉弓变异的临床影响

This case report describes the clinical implications of peripheral arterial disease in a patient with a rare variant of the aortic arch branches. The patient was a 68-year old-female with an extensive cardiovascular history including multiple severe peripheral arterial stenoses, systemic and pulmonary hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, multiple myocardial infarctions, atrial fibrillation, and possible aortic valve disease. The focus of the case report will be how the patient’s anatomical variant played a large role in maintaining cerebral circulation in the presence of significant stenoses of the right vertebral artery, left subclavian artery, and left common carotid artery.

Accessory renal artery supplying suprarenal gland and gonad - its clinical importance and embryological basis 供应肾上腺和性腺的副肾动脉的临床意义和胚胎学基础

Renal transplantation is quiet impressive number as it is a treatment of choice for chronic kidney diseases so knowledge of variations in blood supply of kidney, suprarenal gland and gonad during surgical intervention, renal vascular imaging and understanding of medical problem related with kidney diseases. During routine cadaveric study we came across with multiple variations in blood supply to the kidney, suprarenal gland and gonad in a 65 years old male formaldehyde fixed embalmed body. The right kidney was supplied by an accessory renal artery along with main renal artery. Accessory renal artery, which was also supplying supra renal gland and gonad through inferior suprarenal and gonadal artery respectively. Variant blood supply to suprarenal gland, kidney and gonad is important during surgery, interventional radiography and anatomical point of view because it can affect the orientation of the surgeon during laparoscopic adrenalectomy, kidney transplantation, renal vascular imaging to prevent unwanted complications.

A Rare Case: Duplication of Lungs on Left Side in Human Cadaveric Study 一例罕见病例:人尸体研究发现左侧双肺

Knowledge of lung variation is essential to all medical professionals to exactly interpret radiographs, computed tomography scans, to diagnose, plan and modify a surgical procedure. In this case, a very rare variation has been studied, where three lungs were present in a cadaver. There was a duplication of lungs on left side, none of them had a fissure. Whereas, right lung had normal gross anatomical features. Such variation has not been reported till date. It should be taken into consideration while interpreting radiological variations and during surgeries like lobectomy, segmentectomies.

Xiphoid Size and Gender Differences: An Anatomical Study 剑突大小和性别差异:解剖学研究

Background: Several studies have documented anatomical variations of the sternum. Because of its central role as an anchor of various abdominal muscles we have investigated a possible correlation between xiphoid length and body habitus indices, in both males and females. Method: Measurements of sternal length were obtained prior to median sternotomy during cardiac surgery. Body Surface Area (BSA) was calculated from height and weight, using standard tables. A xiphoid 1cm or less in length was considered vestigial. Results: The xiphoid was significantly longer in males. There was a positive significant correlation between xiphoid length and patient height and BSA in males, but not in females. Vestigial xiphoid was significantly commoner in females. Conclusion: Our results demonstrate a marked gender difference in xiphoid morphology, with proportional scaling only exhibited in males. The absence of this scaling in females suggests an alternative mechanism behind vestigial xiphoid.

In the operating theater, it is of the upmost importance that the surgeon has a comprehensive knowledge of the anatomy within their surgical field. For the otolaryngologist, intimate knowledge of the neurovascular anatomy of the neck is required, especially during surgical procedures relating to the thyroid gland. Along with knowledge of the typical anatomy, the otolaryngologist should also be aware of specific anatomical variants. One such variant is the thyroid ima artery, commonly located inferior to the thyroid gland. In the study presented, 26 cadavers at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine were carefully dissected, and it was determined that two of 26 (further identified as donor 121 and 303) displayed the variant ima artery. For donor 303, the artery was located supplying a pyramidal lobe on the inferior portion of the thyroid gland, and originated from the brachiocephalic artery. It is the authors hope that this case study lends to further knowledge of the thyroid ima and its characteristics, and ultimately improved surgical awareness.

The plantar area of the foot is known as very complicated in terms of muscle layers. The first layer’s muscle, abductor digiti minimi and the third layer’s muscle, flexor digiti minimi brevis are so familiar and located closer to eachother. According to anatomical aspect; abductor digiti minimi muscle lies on the flexor digitimi minimi brevis but in the case that we work on, flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle lies on the abductor digiti minimi. The reasons may followed as; the function of the lateral plantar side, genetic and environmental conditions as well.
