This case study presents different strategies that were explored by the patient’s mother (who is a researcher in music and medicine) when her 17-year-old daughter was diagnosed with ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). ME is not widely recognized in the Global as well as the Swedish population at large, and within healthcare, there are no standardized recommended treatments, partly due to the lack of published evidence-based studies. This case study aims to provide insights into how the Swedish healthcare system works, how different clinics and hospitals within it operate and interconnect; and how these contribute to health outcomes after 15 months of treatment.

Checkpoint inhibitors, a subset of immunotherapies, are effective treatment modalities for cancers such as melanoma. However, they are not without possible adverse effects. Drug-induced reactions may present with similar symptoms of sarcoidosis. We present the case of a 73-year-old female with a recent diagnosis of anorectal melanoma treated with checkpoint inhibitors who developed subsequent episodes of hypercalcemia. Her clinical symptoms along with her surgical cytology and radiologic results are characteristic of a drug-induced sarcoidosis-like reaction. With the increasing usage of immunotherapies in cancer treatment, it is important for clinicians to be aware of which patient population they are ideal for and possible adverse effects.

Introduction: Fibromyomas are benign tumours of frequent uterine location, most often found in black women, whose diagnosis of certainty is histological. The extra uterine location is rare and the physio-pathogenesis is poorly understood. This location poses diagnostic problems on imaging. Management is based on tumour resection. Observation: The authors report a clinical case of a 31-year-old woman who was seen for non-febrile hypogastric pain with a large abdominopelvic mass on physical examination. There was no particular history. The biology did not show any abnormality. Ultrasound with Doppler found a mass that was difficult to characterize, and was completed by a CT scan and a pelvic MRI. The management was surgical with an evolution marked by complications. Conclusion: Ectopic leiomyoma is a rare condition. This location poses diagnostic problems on imaging. Management depends on the type of extra uterine presentation of the myoma.
