Objective To explore the effect of the combination of bandage contact lenses and artificial tears on corneal epithelial injury, due to correction of blepharoptosis in patients. Methods Thirty-five patients (56 eyes) were included in this randomized controlled trial during May 2013 to May 2018, and randomly divided into observation group (combination of bandage contact lenses and artificial tears) and control group (combination of erythromycin eye ointment and artificial tears), and followed up for 3 months. The corneal wound healing, corneal fluorescent staining (FL), Schirmer test (Slt), break-up time (BUT) and the severity of eye pain were documented and compared by statistical method. Results The scores of FL in the observation group were reduced (t=-3.211, P 0.05; the scores of eye pain, t=-1.800, P>0.05; the corneal wound healing, χ2=1.018, P>0.05; the BUT score, t=1.661, P>0.05). Conclusions The combination of bandage contact lenses and artificial tears is recommended for the early use after correction of blepharoptosis, to alleviate eye symptoms and promote corneal wound healing. Objective To introduce an excellent one-stage procedure for repairing defects of the middle and distal part of the nose: nasal dorsal glabellar flap. Methods According to the size, shape and location of nasal defect, homologous nasal dorsal glabellar flap was selected to cover the nasal defect in 17 cases. Among 17 cases, there were 7 men and 10 women, with age of 38 to 76 years. The locations were nasal tip in 9 cases and dorsum of nose in 8 cases, The area of the defect ranged from 15 mm×15 mm to 30 mm×26 mm. The nasal dorsal glabellar flap, which received a versatile axial blood supply from branches of the facial artery and ophthalmic artery, took tissue from the lax glabellar skin and might appear to be too aggressive for closure of a distal nasal or mid-nasal defect. However, because its design was primarily that of a rotation flap with a back-cut in the glabella region, it was greater than the primary defect in order to maximize tissue movement and decreased wound closure tension at the flap donor site. The secondary defect of donor site was directly sutured. Results The nasal defect was successfully repaired in all patients, and the all flaps survived. The patients were available for follow-up of 1 to 6 months, no tumor recurrence occurred, and the repaired tissue were good match with surrounding tissue in color, thickness and texture, good nasal contour was obtained and no secondary deformity occurred, and therefore the cosmetic results were satisfactory. Conclusions The nasal glabellar flap has evolved into a choice flap for nasal defects of cover since it provides local skin with an exact color, thickness, and texture match for the nasal skin. It allows large reconstructions for up to 30 mm defects leaving minimal scars. It represents an interesting alternative for the reconstruction of defects of the nasal tip or supra tip of the nose. Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of topical fat redistribution in combination with shortening of upper eyelid levator muscle in patients with excessively wide palpebral fissure after double-eyelid operation. Methods Twenty patients with excessively wide palpebral fissure after undergoing double-eyelid operation were selected. The double-eyelid line was aesthetically re-designed, the skin or incisional scar between the original and new double-eyelid lines was excised, and the scarring adhesion among different tissues was fully isolated. The fat tissues within the orbital septum, deep orbit and anterior orbital septum combined with ROOF reconstruction were performed to block the adhesion tissues, shortening of levator muscle of the upper eyelid was equally conducted to enhance the cosmetic effect. Results Seventeen patients were satisfied with the cosmetic appearance following once double-eyelid operation. Two cases underwent twice operations due to different height between bilateral papebral fissures. One patient was unsatisfied with the cosmetic appearance. Conclusions Fat redistribution in combination with shortening of levator muscle of the upper eyelid can not only repair excessively wide palpebral fissure complicated with ptosis and upper eyelid depression, but also enhance the exposure rate of the cornea and increase the cosmetic appearance, which is consistent with contemporary aesthetic perception. Objective To compare the efficacy of monochromatic excimer light and narrow-band ultraviolet in the treatment of facial vitiligo patients. Methods Seventy-nine patients with facial vitiligo were randomly divided into MEL group and NB-UVB group. The MEL and 311-nm NB-UVB were applied respectively. Both groups were treated twice a week, total 30 times. Results After ten times treatment, the effective rate of MEL group and NB-UVB group was 39.02% and 15.79%, respectively. There was significant difference between the two groups (P 0.05). The efficacy of both groups showed that disease duration was a negative factor. It seemed that shorter duration of facial vitiligo would obtain better clinical effect. MEL and NB-UVB were safe and effective for the progressive vitiligo. In both groups, few adverse effets in some patients were observed. Conclusions The clinical effect of MEL in treating facial vitiligo is more rapidly than NB-UVB, but as the treatment times increase, the efficacy becomes similar. Both methods are safe in treating facial vitiligo of different stages. Key words: Vitiligo; Face; 308 nm monochromatic excimer light; Ultraviolet B, narrow-band

Objective To study the cell morphology and differentiation efficiency when rabbit bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) were induced osteogenic differentiation as culturing by autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) instead of serum, and to explore a new method of inducing BMSCs osteogenic differentiation. Methods The PRP was prepared by arterial blood of rabbit. Punctured and The bone marrow was sampled from rabbit's iliac bone, and BMSCs were collected, which divided into PRP group, fetal calf serum (FBS) group and serum-free control group, and cultured in 10% autologous PRP, 10% FBS and serum-free respectively, combined with DMEM-F12 medium. The second generation cells were divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental groups' medium was added dexamethasone, β-sodium glycerophosphate and ascorbic acid, and the control groups went on. The cell morphological difference of each group was Observed between anterior and after inducing differentiation, and compared between each group. Results BMSCs of PRP and FBS groups grew quickly, presented like fusiform form before induction, and increasd in volume, became a triangle, polygonal and round form gradually after osteogenic induction. Cells of PRP and FBS groups aggregated spontaneously and multilayered, and formed calcium nodules and bone-like structure after induced 7 days averagely, which could be stained red by alizarin red S; cells of serum-free groups were induced 14 days averagely, only three samples showed osteogenesis performance. Cells of PRP and FBS groups differentiation efficiency was superior to serum-free groups when inducd 20 days, the difference was statistically significant (P 0.05). Conclusions Autologous PRP could be used to proliferate and induce osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs instead of serum. Objective To explore the treatment of unilateral blepharoptosis caused by oculomotor nerve paralysis with pseudo-Graefe phenomenon after craniocerebral trauma or operation. Methods Three patients suffered from blepharoptosis caused by oculomotor nerve paralysis with pseudo-Graefe phenomenon were collected in this study and the modified levator resection technique was applied to correct ptosis. The observation index after operation included the height of upper palpebral margin, the radian of double eyelid, the change of eye movement and the corresponding upper eyelid height, the eye closure function and the incidence of exposure keratitis. Results One case of oculomotor nerve palsy with moderate ptosis achieved an ideal height of upper eyelid after surgery, two cases of oculomotor nerve palsy with severe ptosis were undercorrection. All the three patients had smooth double eyelid radian, no obvious change of eye movement and corresponding upper eyelid height compared with preoperative. The two severe ptoses could close eyes well, but the moderate ptosis patient couldnot close eyes completely. Conclusions The technique of modified levator resection is an effective method to treat the moderate ptosis caused by oculomotor nerve paralysis with pseudo-Graefe phenomenon, but the results are unfavorable in the treatment of severe ptosis.
