Novel dual synergistic sealing ring design for a high-pressure pump – Part I 用于高压泵的新型双协同密封圈设计-第一部分

As simple, small, low-friction and low-cost sealing elements, O-rings are widely used in various types of pumps. When a pump's inner pressure increases, the risk of O-ring failure rises concurrently. The numerical calculations discussed in this article have been done to analyse the mode and root cause of the failure of an O-ring that is installed in a high-lift pump. A novel dual-sealing ring design is also described. The first part of this article, which appears here, mainly describes the computational approach and failure cause analysis based on numerical results. The second instalment will be published in Sealing Technology, Issue 8, Volume 2022.

Two diverse – but equally important – applications of sealing technology developed by Henkel Adhesive Technologies form the subject of this focus article. The first involves the important role select protection and thermal control materials are playing in the expansion of infrastructure dedicated to servicing electric vehicles (EVs), whilst in the second, low-pressure moulding materials are being used to protect and seal medical electronics. In both cases, ruggedness, safety and reliability are essential.

EagleBurgmann is using 3D printing to produce the containment can – the central component which separates the product space containing hazardous or corrosive media from the atmosphere – for magnetic couplings that can be used in equipment such as pumps.
