For reliable operation of high power microwave sources such as high power gyrotron demands stringent vacuum conditions to be fulfilled. In this paper, the vacuum requirements of a 42 GHz, 200 kW CW/ long-pulse gyrotron has been presented and also includes requirement for its heat treatment and vacuum processing.

This paper describes the overall design of a Ku-band 19 beam klystron amplifier. The device is designed to operate near to 2.5 KV with the total beam current of 0.5A equally distributed among its various beamlets. Two new schemes of magnetic focusing arrangement have been analyzed and experimented A block window design has been incorporated for the RF input and output. First, in-house developed codes and 1D code AJ Disk is used for initial design, later commercially available 3D simulation codes like CST-studio and Ansoft HFSS have been used for final optimization of the design.

A number of helix mini traveling wave tubes (TWTs) operating over a multi-octave frequency band have been designed and developed during last ten years. In this paper, the critical areas of design and development of these devices are elaborated and supported by experimental results. Details about an ongoing development of 2 to 7 GHz, 100 W helix TWT are also presented.

The M-type Strontium Hexaferrite SrFe12O19 particles were prepared by a Self propagating High temperature Synthesis (SHS) route. Precursors were heated under two different conditions: microwave heating for 30 minutes and sintered at 950ºC for 4 hrs. The dielectric properties: dielectric constant (ε'), dielectric loss (tan δ) and ac conductivity (σac) were measured at room temperature in the frequency range from 100 Hz to 2 MHz. The samples present a non-linear behavior for the dielectric constant at 1 kHz, 100 kHz and 2 MHz. The dielectric properties of prepared Strontium Hexaferrite samples were discussed in view of applications as a material for microwave devices, permanent magnets and high density magnetic recording media.
