Nigeria Electricity Grid and the Potentials of Renewable Energy Integration: A Concise Review 尼日利亚电网和可再生能源整合的潜力:简要回顾

Nigeria is a country that is heavily blessed with huge potentials for power generation. Unfortunately, more than half of the Nigerian population cannot access ten hours of electricity in a day. About one-quarter of the population doesn’t have access to any form of electricity. This is a disheartening situation that have huge effect on the economy of both the downtrodden and the elites in the society. More than three-quarter of primary energy generated in Nigeria is from fossil fuels, one should worry about this development given the negative effects carbon foot prints has on our environment and its contribution to the global emission rate. Nigeria has great renewable energy potentials that are yet to be tapped. Several individuals and corporate organization are being discouraged by the high initial cost of setting up renewable energy system and other evolving challenges of switching to renewable energy. In line with the agenda 2063 of the African Union to ensure that everyone in Africa have reasonable access to electricity, this study presents the current situation of the Nigeria electricity grid, challenges and the role that renewable energy can play to solve the challenges.

eBIM-GNN Fast and Scalable energy analysis through BIMs and Graph Neural Networks 基于bim和图神经网络的快速可扩展能量分析

Building Information Modeling has been used to analyze as well as increase the energy efficiency of the buildings. It has shown significant promise in existing buildings by deconstruction and retrofitting. Current cities which were built without the knowledge of energy savings are now demanding better Ways to become smart in energy utilization. However, the existing methods of generating BIMs work on building basis. Hence they are slow and expensive When we scale to a larger community or even entire towns or cities. In this paper, we propose a method to creation of prototype buildings that enable us to match and generate statistics very efficiently. Our method suggests better energy efficient prototypes for the existing buildings. The existing buildings are identified and located in the 3D point cloud. We perform experiments on synthetic dataset to demonstrate the working of our approach.

Demand Side Management of a Battery-Supported Manufacturing Process with On-Site Generation 现场发电的电池支持制造过程的需求侧管理

Due to the global competition in manufacturing, flexibility to provide for individually customized products is considered an important selling point. Constantly changing manufacturing processes face higher production costs than well known reoccurring schedules. To lower these costs in general, we propose a model predictive control concept to reduce manufacturing energy costs in particular, using an existing digital twin to estimate the load of the different manufacturing steps. Based on a mixed integer linear programming formulation of the battery-supported manufacturing process, the system makes optimum use of the on-site photovoltaic generation by production scheduling and adaptive battery control. A simulation study considering a time of use and a real-time pricing scenario provides a proof of concept.

Diagnostics of Tractor Transmissions by Vibration Levels 拖拉机传动系统的振动水平诊断

The task of developing universal methods with high reliability of quality assessment, design, and diagnostics of the technical state of a tractor requires taking into account the design features and conditions of its operation. Determining the causes of tractor gearbox malfunction and subsequent repair is a complex, lengthy, and expensive procedure. Therefore, the development of a method for diagnosing a tractor gearbox malfunction without disassembly is a complex and demanded task. The quality assessment of gearboxes was carried out based on the analysis of the scatter of the maximum and minimum vibration levels of the sample of gearboxes. The assessment of the possibilities of reducing vibration levels due to compliance with the technology of production of gearboxes was carried out with minimum vibration levels of the sample of gearboxes. Analysis of the results of experimental studies showed a spread of maximum and minimum vibration levels from 10 dB to 25 dB. This testifies to the high instability of the technology for manufacturing parts and assembling gearboxes. As you know, the transition of the mechanism to another class of a technical condition is 8 dB, and an increase in the vibration level from 16 dB to 20 dB is the limiting value of vibration. Therefore, we can conclude that tractors of the T-150K type, already at the production stage, produce different classes of technical condition from “good” to unacceptable for operation. Statistical processing of measurement results was carried out. The mean square deviations of the vibration of 17 gearboxes were determined for eight measurement points. The main reason for the accelerated malfunctions and decrease of the lifetime is the excess of the vibration in the gearboxes over the permitted level.

State of Charge Estimation of Lithium Sulfur Batteries using Sliding Mode Observer 基于滑模观测器的锂硫电池充电状态估计

The lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are high energy storage systems that can be used for electric grid and solar power air vehicle applications. Such applications require an accurate state of charge (SOC) estimator to control and optimize battery performance. Modelling and estimation of discharging Li-S are highly challenging than other batteries as the discharge voltage of Li-S batteries has highly nonlinear and typical characteristics than the Lithium-Ion batteries. For Li-S battery SOC estimation, literature has proposed filters and machine learning techniques, but no literature on sliding mode observer (SMO). This paper presents the SMO for discharging Li-S SOC estimation and compares it to the extended Kalman filter (EKF). Both estimators use a first-order equivalent circuit network (ECN) model of Li-S cell parameters given in the literature. The performance of such ECN model based SOC estimators influenced by the Q- uncertainty, which is a perturbation in the form of process noise state-space model. Therefore, this work studies an optimal trade-off characteristic of SMO and EKF over the Q-uncertainty. With constant and mixed-amplitude pulse load current sequences, numerical simulation has performed. Simulation results illustrate that the SMO is optimal, converges to the true SOC than the EKF when the perturbation increased.

Autonomous Power Supply Development for Hydrometeorological Monitoring Station 水文气象监测站自主电源研制

This paper presents the results of the investigation of the power supply system of the autonomous monitoring system. In particular, calculations of the system’s daily balance of energy consumption were performed. Also, the question of the influence of the angle of inclination of solar converters on energy generation is considered and the necessity of collecting solar radiation during the whole daylight, not focusing on the maximum amount of energy, is substantiated. This research aimed to develop an algorithm for calculating the power supply system for autonomous monitoring systems. The proposed algorithm takes into account the coordination of diagrams of generation and consumption of energy within the autonomous monitoring station and statistical analysis of information from the NASA website. Experiments have shown the effectiveness of this method. It can be used in future design of power supply systems for autonomous monitoring stations.

A Review of IoT-Based Techniques for Smart Power Systems Architectures 基于物联网的智能电力系统架构技术综述

It is now very important to adopt and continue to improve on the technologies that support the ideas of smart management of energy and integration of renewable energy into the traditional power distribution systems. Smart energy management is one of the major ways to solve the numerous challenges associated with energy and power, especially in Nigeria and other African Countries. Introduction of smart embedded devices will avail power distribution systems the ability to be monitored and controlled for necessary protection, and also assist in making informed decisions on efficient management of energy resources, cost and future expansion. The implementation of IoT system requires various sensors and microcontrollers that will route captured data to a cloud-based platform. A limitation of this approach is the latency involved in the transfer and management of large amount of data from sensors to cloud. Another limitation is the high bandwidth requirement. The third limitation of an IoT enabled system is the issue of security and privacy of data. This study provides a breakdown of some recent IoT-based techniques with the view to highlight the prominent associated issues and offer relevant suggestions towards further improvement on the existing techniques.

Composite system reliability assessment to reduce the curtailment risk using the storage systems 综合系统可靠性评估,降低存储系统弃风风险

The rapidly changing demand requires more flexible power generation to meet the load. At this point, energy storage systems can play a critical role as a supply-demand balancer. This paper introduces a probabilistic and cost-effective storage integration assessment method to achieve a more reliable power system operation. For this purpose, probabilistic power flow values and the load levels, determined by Monte Carlo simulations, are used to calculate the load curtailments (LCs). After obtaining the riskiest load busses for individual and total LCs, the reliability analysis is performed, and the contingency cases are classified using the k-means clustering algorithm. At the final step of the study, the impacts of the storage system on the system reliability and cost-effectivity are compared to identify the best alternative. The proposed assessment is applied to the IEEERTS-96 test system, and the results are discussed.

Integration of Passenger Road Transport in a Fully Renewable Electric Power System Dominated by Variable Generation 以可变发电为主导的全可再生电力系统中客运道路运输的集成

In this paper we study the integration of passenger road transport in a hypothetical scenario with a 100% renewable electric power system dominated by variable generation, where only photovoltaic plants, wind farms and storage are installed. Direct and indirect electrification, respectively by means of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and electrolysers whose hydrogen production supplies fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), are compared in terms of installed generation costs. A short-term demand response is also simulated for BEVs, allowing to shift forward and/or backward BEV charging profiles for a certain number of hours. Results show that, in an electric power system without dispatchable generation, the impact of FCEVs on the generation system costs is minimal, whereas direct electrification via BEVs is much more expensive even if short term demand response is considered.
