In the field of Sociolinguistics, phenomenons of language use such as code-switching and code-mixing are often found in our daily lives. BanG Dream is a multimedia project that focuses on music-themed media products that include manga, anime series, game, musical CD’s and live concerts. In the anime series, BanG Dream, a certain character named Chu2 has interesting background that allow her to have the tendency to perform use of code-switching and code-mixing. This paper aims to find out the types of code-switching and code-mixing found in the utterances of Chu2 in the BanG Dream anime series season 2 episode 3, 8, and 9 and analyze factors affecting doing code switching and code mixing. The research was conducted using a qualitative method through observation to find out the types and the reason for every code-switching and code-mixing found in Chu2’s utterances. The findings showed that there were a total of 23 data, including 13 data of code-switching and 10 data of code-mixing. Three types of code-switching used by Chu2 were tag switching, inter-sentential switching and intra-sentential switching. Meanwhile, there can only be found one type of code-mixing used by Chu2 in her utterances which was insertion. The findings showed that the reason Chu2 performs the phenomenon of code-switching and code-mixing was because of her preferred language to speak English instead of her mother language Japanese, and her social identity as an international high school student which acts as a background to her tendency to constantly switch and mix between Japanese and English because she used to speak English in her school.

REBECCA AS A SOCIAL CRIMINAL IN THACKERAY’S VANITY FAIR 在萨克雷的《名利场》中,丽贝卡是一个社会罪犯

The scheming and calculating anti-heroine, Rebecca Crawley, Rebecca Sharp with her former name, is one of the female protagonists portrayed by William Makepeace Thackeray in his novel, Vanity Fair (1848). As an amoral woman of disadvantageous origins, she has the desire to become a respectful and influential person. However, on the way to achieving her ambition, her love of money and desire for a higher social status lead her to commit several crimes such as disregarding her son, cheating on her husband, and manipulating people. The views about Becky differ. It is still disputed if she is a person of guilt or an innocent and sympathetic individual who does what she must to gain higher status and affluence in a society in which a woman does not have many choices or possibilities to have what she desires. If she does not act the way she does, she will not be able to get by, or worse, she will have to do jobs degrading for women under the social conditions of the first half of the nineteenth century during the Regency period. This study aims to briefly dwell on the titles and the subtitles of Vanity Fair and treat Becky as a person who comes from humble origins and struggles to climb the social ladder by resorting to any kind of misdeed to help her way up, which would normally make her a social criminal, yet it is disputed because she is found relatable due to the conditions of the time.

DEIXIS TYPES IN MARRYING (MADURESE CULINARY WRITING) 婚姻中的指示语类型(马杜洛斯烹饪写作)

. Every speaker should comprehend deixis to enhance the quality of communication with the interlocutor. This study investigates kinds of deixis and their references found in Madurese Culinary Writings. The data source of the study is the students’ Madurese Culinary Writings. It utilizes a qualitative research design. The data are gathered through observation and document review. During the data collection process, field notes are also used. The data are analyzed using an interactive model of data analysis, which includes data reduction, data display, and data verification/claim. The study's findings demonstrate that all types of deixes are found in Madurese Culinary Writings.  Person deixis becomes the most frequent type of deixis including all data found, it has 70 data. The next position provides that place deixis is in the second position having 31 data. Then, discourse deixis has 21 data and time deixis has 13 data, and the lowest frequent type of deixis is social deixis having 6 data. Besides, the references found in this research: person deixes found are  “I”, “we”, “us”, “my” as first person deixes; “You” as second person deixis; “They”, “it” as third person deixes which belong to person deixes; Place deixes found are “Serpang”, “Bangkalan”, “Arosbaya”; Time deixes found are “then”, “after”, “for 3-4 hours” ; discourse deixes found were “this”, “that”; and the last, social deixes found are “the seller”, ”my parents”.

USING PICTURE MEDIA TO ENHANCE WRITING ABILITY IN PROCEDURE TEXT 运用图片媒体提高程序文本的写作能力

The objective of this research was to find out whether or not there is any significant difference between the tenth grade students of SMA Sriguna Palembang in learning writing procedure text using picture media technique and those who are not. This research was done through Quasi-Experimental (Quantitative). The sample was chosen by using cluster random sampling and students of X MIPA 3 selected as the sample. The pre-test and post-test were conducted from July to August 2022. The pre-test and post-test were conducted to gain the quantitative data that were in the form of students’ writing scores. The students average score of the experimental group in the post-test was 75, while the students’ average score in the control group was 66. Meanwhile the critical value was 0.05 significance level for one-tailed test with 69 (df) was 1.667 since the obtained was 3.028, it was higher than t-table. The result showed that there is a significant difference of writing scores of the tenth grade students taught through picture media and those ones taught a conventional technique at Sriguna Senior High School of Palembang.
本研究的目的是了解巨港小学小学十年级学生在使用图片媒体技术学习写作程序文本方面与未使用图片媒体技术的学生是否有显著差异。本研究采用准实验(定量)方法。样本采用整群随机抽样的方法选取,以X MIPA 3的学生为样本。预试和后试分别于2022年7月至8月进行。通过前测和后测获得定量数据,即学生的写作成绩。实验组学生后测平均分为75分,对照组学生后测平均分为66分。同时,单侧检验的临界值为0.05,显著性水平为69 (df)为1.667,因为得到的结果为3.028,高于t表。结果显示,在巨港市Sriguna高中,通过图片媒体教学的十年级学生的写作成绩与传统技术教学的学生有显著差异。

Currently the importance of Intercultural understanding has no doubted. People can not resist the existence of world Englishes or English as international language which require not only the ability to use English language but also to use English language respectfully across culture. To achieve those goals, the intercultural understanding is highly needed. One of the ways that can be done to gain intercultural understanding is through reading fairy tales. The aim of this study is to investigate and analyze the possibility to use fairy tales for fostering young learners’ intercultural understanding. It employed qualitative descriptive method and comparative literature to analyze the data. The data used Celtic, Japanese, Indian, and Indonesian fairy tales that have the same theme then it compared to pointing out the cultural aspects. The finding revealed that despite the similarities in the plots, the fairy tales from various countries depicted the differences in cultural aspect. Thus, can be inferred that the fairy tales can be an option as a vehicle to build young learners’ intercultural understanding

COMMISSIVE ACTS TYPES OF UTTERANCES IN “SENIOR YEAR” MOVIE “高三”电影中言语的行为类型

Movie becomes one of the increasingly popular media that has pragmatics phenomena. The existence of the phenomena is influenced by the involvement of speaker, interlocutor, and context as pragmatics elements. Through a pragmatic perspective, this descriptive qualitative research revealed the types of commissive acts in movie. This research took a 2022 movie entitled “Senior Year” as the data source. Data were all collected from commissive acts utterances uttered by all characters in the movie. The researcher collected data by implementing observational method with non-participatory technique. For the data analysis, the researcher analyzed by taking pragmatic identity method and pragmatic competence- in equalizing technique. Commissive acts theory discovered Searle and Vanderveken was used as the main theory to analyze data. As a result, this research confirmed that five commissive acts types were realized by the movie characters and there had 62 commissive utterances in total. 17 data were identified as accept, threaten and promise had nine data for each type, 16 data were found in offer, and refuse got 11 data. Dominant type belonged to accept as the characters frequently committed themselves to accept the offer of future action from other characters.

The existence of the phenomena is influenced by the involvement of speaker, interlocutor, and context as pragmatics elements. Through a pragmatic perspective, this descriptive qualitative research revealed the types of commissive acts in movie. This research took a 2022 movie entitled “Senior Year” as the data source. Data were all collected from commissive acts utterances uttered by all characters in the movie. The researcher collected data by implementing observational method with non-participatory technique. For the data analysis, the researcher analyzed by taking pragmatic identity method and pragmatic competence- in equalizing technique. Commissive acts theory discovered Searle and Vanderveken was used as the main theory to analyze data. As a result, this research confirmed that five commissive acts types were realized by the movie characters and there had 62 commissive utterances in total. 17 data were identified as accept, threaten and promise had nine data for each type, 16 data were found in offer, and refuse got 11 data. REDEFINITION OF POWER BY RAHIMA IN NADIA HASHIMI: “THE PEARL THAT BROKE ITS SHELL” 拉希马在《纳迪亚·哈希米》中对权力的重新定义:“破壳的珍珠”

Women as victims of sexist oppression is a global issue that needs attention from women around the world. This study covers three issues that relate to women as victims of sexist oppression. Those three issues are sexist oppression experienced by Rahima, solidarity gained by Rahima, and power exercised by Rahima in the novel entitled The Pearl That Broke Its Shell by Nadia Hashimi. Through qualitative methods, the researcher analyzes and describes character’s utterances and narrations from the narrator that indicate the existence of sexist oppression, women's solidarity, and women's power. The results showed that Rahima was successful in exercising her power to end the sexist oppression she experienced.

The purpose of this study was to discover The Portrayal of Merrick Rocha’s Loneliness in “Taken” by Kellie Maine using Psychological Approach. The loneliness issue and its impacts were able to be perceived by discovering the reasons and the impacts of loneliness. Qualitative research was held in this study. The result of this study showed that the writer could find four reasons of Merrick Rocha’s loneliness and three positive ways to reduce his loneliness inside Taken by Kelli Maine. Those four reasons behind Merrick Rocha’s loneliness are (1) Being Unattached, (2) Alienation, (3) Being Alone, and (4) Dislocation. For the ways or impacts of loneliness, this study found three positive impacts such as (1) Active Solitude, (2) Distraction by Spending Money, (3) Active Solitude. The negative one (4) Sad Passivity does not exist in the novel because Merrick Rocha’s loneliness

VERBAL AND VISUAL SIGNS OF INTERACTIVE PARTICIPANTS IN SPIDER-MAN MOVIE POSTERS 蜘蛛侠电影海报中互动参与者的语言和视觉标志

Advertisements contain a variety of visual and verbal signs that have their own meaning. The study aims to investigate more about Multimodal Discourse Analysis related to Spider-Man movie posters. To this end, researchers conducted a review of the relation of visual and verbal signs with interactive participants (audiences) with nine (9) posters from the superhero movie "Spider-Man" which are taken from the Internet Movie Database (IMDb). Method of qualitative descriptive analysis are written in accordance with the Royce Intersemiotic Framework (2001). The findings show that in the "Spider-Man" movie poster there is a relationship which includes visual signs (visual contact, social distance, participation, power relation and modality) and verbal signs (mood and residue) to interactive participants. The conclusion that can be produced is that most of the posters with visual techniques and declarative modalities become a connector between images to the audiences. Such visual and verbal characterizations show that dramatic representations in posters easily touch the emotions of the audience. Eventually lead to the influence of actions on the audiences and imagining the character and storyline of the movies and attracts the audiences to watch it.

NILAI MORAL DALAM FABEL ANAK 儿童寓言的道德价值

Fabel menjadi media penyampaian nilai-nilai moral yang disampaikan dalam ceritanya. Nilai-nilai tersebut berguna sebagai pembentukan karakter anak dan dapat membiasakannya untuk memiliki keyakinan terhadap nilai kebaikan hingga anak tumbuh dewasa. Oleh karenanya, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengkaji nilai-nilai moral dalam fabel. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan etika. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah 18 cerita fabel yang diambil dari laman https://www.ebookanak.com/category/dongeng/kumpulan-dongeng-binatang-pilihan/. Delapan belas judul fabel tersebut di antaranya Gagak Ingin Jadi Angsa, Kaki yang Dibenci Rusa, Hadiah dari Burung Pipit, Tipu Daya Raja Biru, Harimau Bertopeng Rusa, Lolongan Si Guki Anjing, Suara Aneh dari Lapangan, Hewan Paling Beruntung, Jasa Lembu yang Terlupakan, Keberuntungan Katak Tuli, Mas Koki Tak Pernah Menyerah, Pulpen dan Kertas Ajaib Burung Merak, Hadiah Istimewa Serigala, Rubah Memperdaya Harimau, Tikus Penolong Gajah, Raja Bulan Penguasa Danau, dan Kilauan Emas di Danau. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah satuan cerita yang mengandung nilai moral cerita fabel. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis isi (content analysis), yaitu mencari nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam data berupa teks fabel dalam buku elektronik. Teknik analisis data meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan, dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa dari kedelapan belas fabel tersebut, beberapa nilai moral disampaikan secara implisit misalnya dari tindakan-tindakan buruk yang ditunjukkan dengan balasan apabila seseorang melakukan penyimpangan moral. Terdapat delapan bentuk nilai moral yang mengacu pada hubungan sosial maupun hubungan makhluk dengan Tuhan yang di antaranya adalah cinta kepada Tuhan dan lingkungan, jujur, mandiri, hormat dan santun dalam budi bahasa dan tingkah laku, percaya diri dan pekerja keras, serta dermawan dan murah hati, baik dan rendah hati, serta toleran dan rukun.
