Mitos Eyang Sapu Jagad adalah sastra lisan milik masyarakat Dusun Ubalan dan Desa Maguan, Kabupaten Malang, Provinsi Jawa Timur. Kedudukan cerita ini sangat penting bagi kehidupan kedua daerah karena dianggap memberikan pengaruh terhadap tatanan kehidupan sosial masyarakat di kedua daerah hingga saat ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan fungsi dan dampak mitos bagi kehidupan masyarakat kedua daerah. Penelitian menggunakan desain deskriptif-kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Sumber data penelitian adalah informan dari kedua daerah, catatan observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik perekaman, observasi, dokumentasi, wawancara, dan pencatatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mitos Eyang Sapu Jagad memberikan pengaruh yang kuat terhadap kehidupan masyarakat. Bagi masyarakat Dusun Ubalan, mitos berfungsi sebagai alat penguat rasa solidaritas antaranggota masyarakat, alat kontrol sosial bagi kehidupan masyarakat, dan alat promosi wisata, sehingga berdampak pada kehidupan sosial dan spiritualnya yang tercermin dari tindakan menyakralkan petilasan, tradisi ritual doa, etika hidup bermasyarakat, dan memupuk ekonomi masyarakat. Bagi masyarakat Desa Maguan, mitos berfungsi sebagai alat penguat rasa solidaritas antaranggota masyarakat dan wahana pendidikan, sehingga berdampak terhadap kehidupan sosial dan spiritualnya yang terepresentasikan melalui tindakan kolektif menyakralkan petilasan, tradisi ritual doa, yasinan dan slametan pada hari Jumat Legi, serta menjadi pedoman ajaran dalam kehidupan masyarakat

Stylistics study provides a different way of approaching literary analysis to examine poetic expression, point of view, meaning, and themes. By using the linguistics approach, stylistics helps to objectively disclose literal meaning and poetic expression in the text. Thus, this research attempts a stylistic analysis of Earle Birney’s poem The Bear on the Delhi Road and examines how language features affect the poetic expression and literal meaning in the poem. Furthermore, this research is a content analysis approach that is analyzed through the stylistics analysis. Stylistics analysis in this research focuses on the three language levels, phonology, syntactic, and lexical. In the part of phonology levels, the researchers focus on the rhyme scheme, alliteration, assonance, and consonance. While syntactic levels focus on the transitivity patterns, affixes, and pronouns. Then, lexical levels focus on figurative language and imagery.

The distinctive traits of the conduct of the main character in the Forrest Gump movie, such as being both foolish and quick to understand, diligent, cranky, selfish, and subservient, have piqued the researchers’ curiosity in delving deeper into his character or personality by utilizing an archetypal approach. This research can educate and assist people to understand human character or personality. The purpose of this study is to explore more about the kinds of archetypes found in the main character of Forrest Gump movie. The researchers applied a qualitative descriptive method in which the exact procedure involved in the research process was known as research design: data gathering, classy, identifying, and analyzing some monologues and dialogues in this movie contextually and theoretically. The research subject was the main character of Forrest Gump movie. The result showed that from fifteen samples of data, there were five types of archetypes such as persona, ego, shadow, self, and anima. The most common archetype of the main character in this movie is persona. It shows that Forrest portrayed a different personality in public than he is. Anima is the least archetype in this movie and it indicated that Forrest has a feminine image which his submissive nature.

This study aims to describe the main character’s attitude to nature and it influences to his environmental stewardship in Carl Hiaasen’s novel Hoot. Deep Ecology theory by Bill Devall and George Sessions is applied in this study in studying the attitude of Roy Eberhardt to his environment and how it affects his environmental stewardship. This study used qualitative research as a method to analyze the data. The data of this study are Roy Eberhardt’s utterances, behavior, action and author’s narration in the novel. There are some conclusions based on the study; 1) Roy attitude’s toward nature are active and positive. It causes Roy to feel responsible to the preservation of environment around him like how he tries to save the owls. 2) Roy’s attitude that thought any creatures have the same right to life makes him to take non-violence action to save the nature. The attitude influences Roy to take peaceful actions to stop the owls’ nest destroyed by the industry.

This article examines the historical and social perspectives in children literature of three series of Blyton’s The Famous Five. The objective of this study is, to explain the historical context and social perspectives of the three series novel of The Famous Five. This study used qualitative method to collect, select and analyze the data. The data of this study is three series of novel The Famous Five by Enid Blyton. This study used document analysis as the process of collecting data in this research. The writer collected the data using some notes and online news as the instrument to get the data. The theory used in this study is historical and social approaches in children literature by Jack Zipes. The study found some historical aspects and social elements in the novel. The result of this study showed that (1) there are twelve historical aspects dealing with place, event, and artifact. (2) there are four social elements dealing with economic condition, gender equality, tradition, and culture. The historical aspects and social elements of Blyton’s The Famous Five are depicted in the form of conversation and paragraphs. Based on the result of this study, the writer concludes that Blyton’s background influences the process of the historical aspects and social elements which are depicted in the three series of Blyton’s The Famous Five.

Penggunaan bahasa tidak lepas dari motif ideologi salah satunya motif dominasi dan kekuasaan. Dominasi kekuasaan terjadi akibat adanya pihak yang kuat sebagai pihak yang dominan/penguasa dan pihak lemah sebagai pihak yang didominasi/dikuasai. Dominasi yang akhirnya berubah menjadi doktrin terhadap kelompok masyarakat tersebut dikenal sebagai hegemoni. Dominasi dapat direalisasikan melalui bentuk-bentuk bahasa yang digunakan dalam kejahatan berbahasa karena, bentuk-bentuk bahasa dalam kategori kejahatan berbasa memiliki daya/power. Melalui strategi dominasi, pihak dominan akan menanamkan pengaruh dan penguasaan terhadap yang didominasi. Praktik dominasi kekuasaan melalui bahasa, dapat dijumpai dalam teks wacana dialog film Better Days《少年的你》karya Derek Tsang. Melalui konsep teori bahasa dan kekuasaan simbolik Bourdieu, dikaji dan ditemukan praktik-praktik hegemoni kekuasan simbolik melalui kejahatan berbahasa yang berbentuk bahasa hukuman, bahasa intimidasi, bahasa larangan, bahasa tuduhan, dan bahasa perintah. Bentuk-bentuk bahasa tersebut digunakan sebagai realisasi dari bentuk serangan verbal dan digunakan sebagai strategi oleh pembicara sebagai bentuk-bentuk praktik dominasi kekuasaan terhadap lawan bicara.

Ranciere is a political thinker who wants to give a spirit of optimism in citizenship equality. This spirit sparks in his view of democracy which he emphasizes not in consensus but dissensus. This means that democracy focuces more on disagreement rather than agreement of the winner in electoral vote because for him democracy should instead focus on votes that were not won. This is an ethical question why those who are marginalized are not accomodated. Only by dissensus, appropriateness and distribution of socio-cultural roles always be transformative and dynamic. In literary works, marginalized voices are important because it is locus of conflict This means that there are undemocratic nuances in literary works which are also the main issue. On the other hand, this also proves that democracy is a struggle that is never final because there is no absolute victory, that is, it is impossible to win votes in total. Hence, there is always a reason why there are votes that are not won? As a result, the consensus of winners is constantly questioned through dissensus since there is disagreement, or reconsideration for the sake of conditions for equitable distribution of justice. Ranciere traces all the problems of democracy not only in the world of politics but also in culture and even literature, which is indeed is full of discrimination that perpetuates the social hierarchy. Thus, this paper wants to provide a conceptual framework for democratization practices in the literary and cultural space by referring to Ranciere's thoughts in order to prevent works not only good representations but also questioned majority-based truth.
